Returned to play THF - Whats new?Follow

I recently reactivated my account after about 3 years. The rumors of relic upgrades and increased level cap was too much to not check it out.

I was around long enough to pillage the whitegate expansion events, but everything else will be new. A lot seems to have changed, so I'm looking for some pro tips on what gear I should go hunting for and what events have been added. Mainly just looking for fun things that can be done with solo THF, because my playtime is very limited. My linkshell, server, and friends are all gone anyway. Even my old Alla account is gone.

I got relocated to Slyph. Seems to be mainly asians who check me and laugh, which is what prompted me to seek your friendly advice. Its not like im running around in an Optical hat! I spend my time doing solo stuff up to VT targets in this gear to get the kills for relic upgrade. What can I change for a easy and significant improvement or just some mockery avoidance? Please be nice. :)

Well since you bought your account it's natural you would be a bit lost at first.
Get a crossbow and various bolts if you're soloing. Acid, sleep, blind, bloody should help a lot if you don't have anyone supporting you. For grouping with other people, use a fire bomblet for your ammo slot of course (bomb core for mercy stroke). You can use your skadi body for dancing edge. For SA/TA mercy stroke, if you have hecatomb harness that would be better. Skadi head is for sneak and trick attack. For DD'ing, use walahra turban. WS in heca cap if you have one. Could give other advice but I don't know what other gear you have. For TP gain use homam corazza if you have it.

Mini expansions are also good. Body from a crystalline prophecy is good for TP. Head can be good for dancing edge or TP gain, from moogle kupo d'etat.

This isn't even close to true.

Given that against "weak mobs" bloody proc is going to be 60+ (probably closer to 80 but whatever), that means that one bloody bolt makes up for over 3 minutes of 1HP regen. Yes, bloodies take time to fire (about 3.8 seconds per shot with Ziska's), but the flip side of that is that HP gained comes from the mob's life (whereas regen obviously does not).

You are very right. 'Outperforms' was a poor choice of wording. I agree that 60 HP every 4 seconds with bloody and ziska will be far more than 1hp/tick. It would also be far more than is required to keep my health capped. What I should have said that +1 regen from snakeye is all the healing performance I need when fighting weak mobs.


As far as the advice I was origionally looking for, here are a few direct questions.

Has SE added any new mobs to the new areas with items that are worth stealing?
Has SE added anything to the new zones that is worthwhile to lockpick?
Has SE added any new NM to hunt with items that can actually be sold as opposed to making everything EX?
Has SE added any new THF items to mobs I can solo as opposed to HNM that would require me to whore myself out to a linkshell for years to obtain?
Has SE added any new one man ENM, BCNM, mini-events... other than magian trials, which are either fun or rewarding?
Has SE added any new super THF items like a +TH ring, ect, ect...?

My brief time digging through wiki leads me to believe that the answer to all of these questions is NO. Of course anyone who had really played this game before would have known that even with 3 years to improve their game, SE would never be so kind to THF.

If I am wrong and there is a YES answer to any of the above questions, please let me know.
