It's just as sh*t as expected.

It's a Cyclone+1, appears to be aquired at skill lvl 290 (Or 292 anyway).
On EP spiders at 100TP it was doing 250ish unresisted vs cyclone's 150-180.
It's damage is the same-ish in TP gear, AGI gear and str/dex WS gear.
Like cyclone, doesn't stack with JAs.
Like cyclone, doesn't get offhand hit.


So yeah. Trash.

The funny thing is that SE tried to show off the new weapon skills.

Also, I skimmed through the trial of the Magians to see how we could beef up our current WS. It looks like we get a 10% dmg boost to evisceration if we use the corresponding weapon. The weapon isn't that bad as an off hand option. It's similar to a blau dolch when it comes to dmg and delay. I think it's a little higher base dmg than Blau.

I can't remember and I already logged off. Anyways, I don't even want to know what SE was thinking when they made the new Weapon skills.

It's D37 Dly186.
Higher Damage than Blau, but higher delay too (8delay amg!)

Not sure if I'm impressed or not.

Theres a trial along the same line of trials from that base weapon that ends up D37 Dly186 STP+8.

So do we know if the WS upgrade trials are permanent additions to the WS or retarded crap you have to actually use THAT weapon to get teh bonus on?

If you have to use the 'evisceration dagger' to get a boost do evis this is rerarded. Not to mention the previous trials for other weaponskills would be even more retarded.

Well i tested it at 300TP with +30INT in gear/food +5 MaB from moldavite earring...did 415
even without the INT gear it does like 20 or 30 less? hope it has other modifier tehn INT
and when it comes to MAB idk how much more MAB thf can get...

Aeolian edge isn't worth trying to improve. When S-E added Aeolian Edge they were just keeping true to their form of past releases.

In the process of leveling up from 1-80 there will be a lot of weaponskills that are weaker than others. Viper bite is our bread and butter from 33-60 for the same reason (only because we stack SATA with it and it chains well). The mana stealing weaponskills aren't practical for damage and viper bite is better than cyclone. I doubt s-e is done with new weaponskills yet though. With 19 more levels to go we'll have approximately 100 more skill points to acquire. Judging by the dagger skill necessary to obtain past weaponskills there will probably be one or two more. But as a general rule of thumb we shouldn't ever expect too much from magical weaponskills. S-E makes them all the same way.

I will admit though that aeolian edge LOOKS cool. Even though the damage sucks it's kinda fun to throw one out if the mob is at very low HP and is about to die anyway (provided of course it won't hit something else with its AoE status).

There's a thread in the BGLS forums that quotes some of the NPCs in Abyssea and one of the quotes mentions that some of the NMs have weaknesses to magical weaponskills...

But this weaponskill still sucks.

Might be fun for a rdm/thf to see how high they can push AE. Anyone with level 80 rdm and full dagger merits and/or love torque want to try this? Unfortunately I don't have rdm leveled.

As to the NPC mentioning weaknesses, it seems like the Abyssea NMs that drop the job specific gear only do so when you exploit their weaknesses. However, our job specific item sucks, so I still see no reason to use this WS. Especially since you can't farm with AoE.

How's resist rate on the WS?

If it's like guarantee 500 damage on any mob, it's not too bad.

There are (were?) mobs in this game has high vit and defense that we aren't event allowed to melee.

It's an AOE WS right?

Maybe use it in Dynamis or something when there are 20 mobs piled up on each other?

Doesn't seem to resist much, but it's been a hella long time since I've really used any other elemental WS in comparison...

Actually... hitting 20 mobs with an AOE will also guarantee death... and your sleepers will curse you to hell.

Back before people were high level, I used to do the rank 5? Mission with the skeletons and the lich with aoe ws. When everyone uses teem they do add up quick. Maybe when we hot 90 aoe ws and 3 dd will be the way to farm dynamis.
