Well, after finishing up the Cure Pot staff, i've started trials for both the Dagger and polearm, but I wanted to start a thread for people to give advice/suggestions for best spots to kill mobs with weather etc...

Currently I'm doing trial 16 which involves killing Rabbits with any weather. Without levelsync, I'm not seeing a whole lot of good options for this? Any advice?

And I think Crabs are next.

rabbits in u. range are your best bet for the first trial. crabs in vunkerl inlet are good for the 2nd and 3rd trial.

This is pretty much how I've done it up to this point

16: Ulegurand range
17: Vunkerl S
18: Ulegurand range again (while DW another 16)
19: Vunkerl again
20: same as 18
21: Not there yet but will probably try Halvung
30: you guessed it..Vunkerl again
31: I did mandies in Boyahda tree
32: Ro'Maeve
33: Arrapago reef (at the time of this writing im 5 away from finishing this but stupid day just changed ><)
24: Bhaflau with colibri
25: not exactly sure about this one...not there yet
26: Bhaflau colibri again
27: Bhaflau ameretats

That covers the ones you should be going after (dex, str, eva).

The Boyahda Tree might be a suitable alternative for Trial 16 since Moss Eaters are generally EP and Lightning/Rain is frequent enough to not get bored.

That is a very good guide, Kalisa. Although I'm doing my Marlboros in Wajaom (might also try rolanberry level sync)

When I first started TotM I also thought this would be the optimal spot....but after 4 or 5 hrs of little spouts of weather here and there, I pretty much gave up on the place. Plus right now it seems that everyone and their dog go out to ulegurand for their 16s so its much easier to group there and do your bunny massacre.

Right now I'm having trouble with T21 (last trial for the STR/att dakini) There are only technically 2 groups of flans in the game...VT pudding camp in Mount Z, and...well somewhere in Halvung that I have yet to find lol...I of course couldn't convince the BLMs there at the time to let me leech just for firesday so I geared up my DNC and started soloing them. Only got through 4 before the day ended though...but it was fun to see the reactions of the BLMs XD. So yeah...gotta explore halvung a bit to find a good camp for the DC/EM flans...

For anyone looking for the Qutrub (I forget which dagger trial it is, I posted it for Dex/Acc sword), here's info to get to them that I posted in Blu forum.

Quote:
I didn't see this posted here, but maybe I just didn't look hard enough. Either way -
The last trial for the dex/acc Soulsaber is 200 qutrubs in thunder weather or lightning day. the mire idolaters suuuuuuck to kill, and while I knew there were DC in Arrapago, I didn't know where. Tonight I figured it out by asking a jp party their position and seeing which maps even had such a location (missing 12 hours of lightning day in the process ><), and now I pass that on to you so you don't have to waste time wandering around.

1) Take Dvucca Isle RP and enter Arrapago at #2 (G/H-8) on this map. There are VT qutrub and other nasties on the way, so sneak/vis and watch out for imps. Pretty easy to make it through without aggro.
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Caedarva_Mire/Maps#Map_2
2) Head east and exit through the iron gate (no key needed) marked H on this map. Lamia and Fallen soldiers here.
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Arrapago_Reef/Maps#Map_9
3) This leads you to the big map below. You want to take exit C to the east. Lamia, ghosts, jnun here
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Arrapago_Reef/Maps#Map_3
4) This brings you to this map
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Arrapago_Reef/Maps#Map_2
The DC qutrub are all along the southern edge - just head east along the coast from C. You'll find them from around F-10 to I-10. There are mirror guards on little island, but you don't have to go anywhere near them. On the coast there are Lamia, some DC imps with a very short aggro range (I ran around the bend into 4 of them and didn't aggro despite 2 of them being about 10 feet away looking right at me) and a T Sea Monk that wanders into Qutrub area now and then.

I'd imagine you could also get there from the Nashmau-Caedarva map, unless there is some obstruction not shown on the map, but that way has a lot more imps, at least if you come from the RP.

I met up with a party of 5 others there - ended up being Thf Thf Thf Dnc Rdm Rdm which worked pretty well with 1 rdm keeping a haste cycle and doing minor curing while the other (me) kept a constant stream of Qutrub coming already silenced and dispelled. In the ~12 hours of lightning day I was there for we killed 30 Qutrub. Dagger Dex/Acc has the same trial, and possibly some other weapons as well, so look for any 75 /seacom in the area. For as obnoxious as some of the trials are, I gotta hand it to SE - they sure as **** encourage grouping, and for the most part there's no "English No Thanks" going on.

Lol...or you could just go to Ilrusi atoll staging point and just walk to F-9 directly...probably a 20 or 30 second walk after you sneak past the imps at the SP XD

Edit: oh and I checked out that pudding camp zoning in from the bird camp...there are only 4 puddings there and they are separated by the true sight mirror trolls...I'm pretty sure there's another pudding camp with more somewhere in Halvung so I'm gonna keep looking.

U should try rolanberryfields S, just outside crawlers nest, 12 spawns all easy prey....

(for trial 27, 200 morbols) only downside is the area doesent have wind weather but its very good for wind day.

It totally depends on if you group or not. The first 16 I did (done all 4 already lol) took me between 3 and 4 hrs to completely solo in U range. Almost every one after that with the exception of the qutrubs I've grouped with people and have gotten them done in 2 to 3 hrs.

And I say again...if you're going after multiple daggers find out the trials you can do together. For my 2 evasion daggers I did trials 24 and 17 only on windsdays to finish both and now I'm doing 25 and 24 together thus saving myself 200 kills overall.

Some decent spots I found for Thunder Trials.

Vunkerl Inlet [S]: Thunder weather happens more here than anywhere else I've tried (please correct me if you know of a better spot), so I did some exploring to deal with some of the more PITA trials for me.

Trial 32 Arcana: Tons of DC Ignis Djinn. I found a camp of like 7 ish and I got lots of kills for my Arcana trial here between lightningsdays at Ro'Maeve. I have HEARD that lightning weather happens in Ro'Maeve...but I have never seen it lol. Lightning weather in vunkerl is pretty regular. So if you aren't getting it in Ro'Maeve, Vunkerl is a nice alternative.

Trial 31 Plantoids: Again, I've HEARD that lightning weather pops in Boyada Tree...but I sat there for a long, loooong time without seeing it. Lots of plants and lightning in Vunkerl Inlet. Treants and Demonic Roses. They range from DC-T but they go down pretty easy. I took a couple people with me from Boyada and we finished our plants in Vunkerl.

I am currently at about 150 remaining kills on qutrubs and all I have to say is...EFFFFF UUUUUUUUU, SE. Bunch of sadists!!!

....I can't believe I have to do at least 3 more of these stupid daggers :*(

Keep in mind you aren't restricted to weather only. Make use of the days as well.

For Qutrub, try shouting in town or just head out to Periqia. A party or more of THFs and DNCs can make fast work of the qutrub. Even better if you or someone else can dual box a mage for some hastes/healing. If you're really lucky, you can find a BRD who has to unlock the dagger as well. Personally, I use my BRD for the trials, it's not too hard to get a party that way.

A full party can kill about 50 qutrubs in one game day. The more the merrier of course. Just don't try roaming, it can get hectic with blood aggro.

Trial 31: Plantoid killer on lightning day/weather.

Did this in The Boyahda Tree on lightning day, killed 40 mouriaches in 1 day solo.

Well, the 200 qutrubs final trial on my polearm really had me frustrated for along time (I even took about a 3wk break from the game), but then yesterday I noticed a large group of people in the reef right before thunderday. I joined up with there posse, and knocked out about 61, then logged til next thunderday when I knocked out 26 with a smaller party, and then late last night I was able to duo the final 13 of my trial to finish it off.

The trial doesn't seem as bad when you can knock out 100 in a day, but it still makes me wary of coming back to do the dagger trial.

For those of you with more than 1 account or friends who are willing to help for an hr at a time:
- Trial 19: Level 10-13 sync, South Gustaberg near Dangruff Wadi, Crabs... 100 kills under 1hr with THF+DRG
- Trial 31: Level 10 sync, West Sarutabaruta roaming the map, Mandragora... 80 kills in 1hr with THF/RNG (for widescan) + DRG. I'm sure someone can point out a better low level alternative for plantoids, because I had to roam alot for mandies and lost time due to how widespread they were.
- Trial 32: Level 9-10 sync, Outer Horuto Ruins (northern tower in East Sarutabaruta), Cardians... 60 kills in 30 minutes soloing on THF and just letting the sync /follow. I think a duo could probably clear over 100 mobs in an hr here.

For any mob type that has a low level target, its better to sync at levels where you can 1-shot / 2-shot mobs for minimal XP. With fights taking less than 20 seconds, that gives you enough kills to clear a complete trial in that short time where you can get credit for your weapon.

Since i've finally started the dagger trials, I recall hearing that its possible to work off 2 trials at once when dual-wielding. How exactly is this done? does it only work for specific trials?

Not only do I outline some of the best spots (that are not level synced), but have information on the trials that you can do at the same time as another.
