Who do Voodoo? He do VoodooFollow

Ok stupid title I know, but what else do you call the miriad theories and claims made by players for years. People scoff when you mention moon phase, treasure hunter, hours, days, job combinations, weapon skills and other madcap theories on what makes **** drop. And really some of them seem to work, some don't I'm curious now, let this be the compendium of Thieving Voodoo theories. If you have an oddball theory or long standing rumor post it here, I'd love to have something to do with my spare time and provided it is profitable maybe we can all make some gil out of it too.

Lets say something by some miracle works more often than fails, it gets added to the fact list.

Something doesn't work after being tried and reported by an excess of 30 confirmed thieves to not work, we mark it Fiction, and don't hear about it again.

Now the natural response to this type of thing in a game this old is "That's **** none of it works," well I don't believe you, I haven't seen it myself, just because a few say it does not make it real. There is nothing wrong with testing random theories in spare time that's farming time anyway and there's nothing to lose from trying. Lets try this out.

ok I start this out as a template I guess.

Voodoo 1

Slow kill

Low droprate mobs show increased/better droprate when killed slowly without use of spells, recovery items or weaponskills.

Tested sample 2/4 Jujitsu gi no weaponskills, or blood bolts
NM used 2hr 4/4

Tested sample 5/8 Serpentine Gun no weaponskills, or blood bolts
6% Droprate confirmed, TH2+2
Mob tp moves used: 3x blast bomb used,
2x Double drops boomerang/gun when fountain used

Four Leaf Mandragora Leaf increases drops

THF must get last hit to get maximum TH effect.

TH will not take effect if your last hit is a weapon skill.

TH will not take effect unless your last hit is a weapon skill

TH is broken if you gear swap

TH +1 doesnt work in the off hand

TH +1 must be offhanded

The last hit has to be with THF knife to get the added effect

CHR effects TH

{X Day of the week} is the worst day for drops.

Windsday (Because most thf abilities have grean icons beside them?...TH doesn't but I digress) is the best day for drops.

If you kill a mob with magic TH will have no effect.

If you pull a mob with magic TH will have no effect.

You have to pull a mob with a ranged attack or no TH will take effect.

TH has no effect if another party in your alliance gets kill shot with no TH in their party.

TH works.

TH is your friend.

The government tells you the truth

Michael Jackson was innocent....so was OJ

This thread is kinda beyond a waste of time. Anecdotal evidence gathered from small samples leads to all kinds of silly ideas trying to find patterns in randomness. There aren't any (at least on a scale that we can observe (to counter the computers aren't random argument) and trying to find them or believing in them is inane and futile.

For example, your "confirmed" VE seems to pop faster only killing the PH is a result of less time wasted on a living PH and nothing else. If you kill all the flys (which you have to if you didn't plot the pops since the last VE) the PH will be up and unkilled for random amounts of time. Whereas if you just the the PH, it will, over time, spend less "wasted time" up as a PH and you will get more attempted pops in a given period of time.

Anything that "seems" to work, only ever seems to on an insignificant scale. Any decent testing quickly disproves all of them.

lol Sorry, I think I misunderstood the purpose of your post. I actually wasnt tryign to be an **** lol. I though you were asking for every vodoo magic treasure hunter theory we's ever heard.

I don't agree with them, but if it helps...all of those are based on something somone who "Has been playing the day before the JP release" and has "tested acrooss their years of thf experience" would swear is true on a stack of bibles.
