So I just inherited my friend's old account. It has a bunch of cool jobs on it, compared to my measly RDM75.
SCH64
DNC62
SMN73
WHM75
BLM75
RDM75
THF75

Thief was definitely the most attractive. So now you have me trying to learn the job I've only taken as far as 29 at level 75. The gear I got is pretty decent. Probably not great to anyone else's standards, but I can stab stuff. I'll list it:

TP set:
B. Knife+1 x2
Walahra Turban
Chiv. Chain
Supp
Drone Earring (looking for a replacement)
Rap. Harness
Dusk Gloves
Rajas
Venerer Ring
Amemet+1
Life Belt
Dragon Subligar
Dragon Leggings

SATA: (Only have one set for this right now)
B. Knife+1 x2
Empress Pin
Chiv. Chain
Drone Earring
Drone Earring
Dragon Harness
Dusk Gloves
Rajas
Venerer Ring
Amemet+1
Warwolf Belt
Dragon Subligar
Dragon Leggings

WS:(Again, general)
B. Knife+1 x2
Optical Hat
Chiv. Chain
Suppanomimi
Drone Earring
Dragon Harness
War Gloves
Rajas
Venerer Ring
Amemet+1
Warwolf Belt
Dragon Subligar
Dragon Leggings

I don't plan to do Salvage or Sea anytime soon, nor Einherjar. Dynamis, Sky, and Nyzul are very real ideas though.

Any ideas on what I should get started doing, or which gear would be the most useful, first. Blau and Sirocco are kinda obvious.

Neck: Peacock Charm, WS Gorgets
Ear: Brutal Earring
Body: Hecatomb?
Hands: Hecatomb, AF2 (Don't full time these)
Ring: Sniper/Woodsman Ring
Waist: Speed Belt
Feet: Hecatomb

I listed WS Gorgets and Brutal earring, both requiring sea access, which you have. And both can be done solo (well, not the UFO organs).

Honestly, by restricting yourself to Dynamis (THF AF2 sucks, hands are decent for a quick hit), Sky (Hecatomb is all a THF gets here) and Nyzul (some very situational pieces), you've greatly gimped your THFs potential. Both Homam and Skadi (Sea and Salvage) have some excellent pieces.

I know this isn't your character, so you likely don't want to invest as much time into it. Just letting you know though, that without doing Sea, you're missing out.

Also, read up on the job. Post 60, stacking SA and TA isn't exactly common.

Really though, if you look through the Stickies, they still have some good info.

It's not so much that I don't wanna invest time as much as my main hasn't been all the way through CoP yet. I feel like doing sky would somehow be detrimental to me. I just plain don't understand Salvage.

I also know that SATA aren't stacked, I just don't have good gear for the separately yet, so I just use the same gear for both.

Besides the PCC, Speed Belt, and the Sniper/Woodsman Ring, anything else off of the AH that is just the hottest thing?

You may not have, but your friends THF has finished CoP already. Farming up the organs for gorgets is not a long affair, neither is buying Ancient Beastcoins to trade for Brutal. And btw, I meant Swift Belt, not Speed. Unless of course you have the insane cash.

As long as they get that hit in, they don't really need to be alive!

??? Because THFs take so much physical damage at faf? Isn't wing magic damage? Wouldn't that set just be +5% magic damage increase?
