Mid-level-THFFollow

Long time lurker, first time poster in THF forums.

I've only recently returned to WoWFFXI and after a month of levelling several different jobs I decided to start up my THF again and had a few questions. (FYI it's L40 right now).

Gear setup/selection (i'm mostly following the guide in ffxipedia)
1.) +dex for SA gears, +agi for TA gears, priority on dex otherwise agi for sata gears correct?
2.) I have spare merits to throw into dagger combat skills and was wondering whats the MAX I can merit to get DE earlier than 60? I believe +2 will allow me to get it at 59 and +4 = L58 but how many can I use that early? max of 5 I think?

10-20 = 1
20-30 = 2
30-40 = 3
40-50 = 4
50-55 = 5
55-60 = 6?

unsure... /think.
3.) bravo's subligar, 200k-240k price tag on Caitsith, I lack access to the coast to camp the NM so isit worth buying @47 and how long will it last me? considering I do not have skadi's either.
4.) blau dolch i understand is pretty much a must-have for main or off-hand and is around 2M on Caitsith, should i bother with question 3.) if I should save for blau dolch first?
5.) THF invites seems to be the same as when I left the game back in '07 does this improve at 50-60? or after I get DE? how bad isit at 75 and merits? or do people still simply throw SAMs & DRGs at everything that is bird or mamool...?

ok that was more than 1 question in 5.
6.) any other important NMs I may have missed that is important 40+? and should I bother with them early or wait til my THF is almost at that level. I like to ding into awesomeness :D

Close. During SATA and SATA Viper Bite, AGL and DEX are equally important. They will both add the same amount to your base damage. So which ever armor piece you can pack the most of either stat is priority.

For example Af legs with 4 AGL > Noct Legs with 2 Dex. Pieces like empress hairpin and bounding boots that have 3 of each in one slot would have a total value of 6 (nothing beats them for sata for a long time).

If you are splitting TA and SA, then yes, pure AGL for TA and Pure Dex for SA. But its really ineffective to split Pre-60 when you get assassin (save in a few party situations where people are just being really uncooperative).

In my oppion, Bravo's Subligar is not worth a slot until you can pack on enough haste (20+% gear/15% mage/20% brd/10% dnc) to make it outperform other options. I still use them in high haste situations and for shadow recast macros. But I wouldn't use them at the level you can use them.

If you are choosing between then 2. Save up for a Blau. It's probably the biggest upgrade a THF can make for damage.

AS far as invites go, pink squishy birdies allow us to be competitive DD's (if you are good). If you make conscious efforts to maximize your gear sets and use them intelligently, you will do great in merits. You likely won't out parse top tier "heavier" dd's that put forth equal effort, but contrary to popular belief these top tier players are not raining from the heavens. And who gives a sh*t? If you are being outparsed by a crazy SAM, the merits are probably rolling in. Bottom line, you are in no way a waste of a DD slot. And Feint every 2 minutes is hotness.

The barrier you will face is perception, at times cooperation (and maybe a bit of a learning curve), but not potential and ability.

I'd say bravo's is still a good option. Maybe on it's own with absolutely no haste otherwise, it's garbageesque. But if you have a swift belt and/or situational rapp harness, I'd say it should still be good pre-75's, especially if you're getting hasted. Considering Republic Subligar is essentially the next best option in the mid ranges, I'm not sure this could be written off as far-fetched, lol.

I decided to buy it anyway as I am more than likely changing servers shortly (today maybe?) as my linkshell buddies have all gone to Ragnarok and their a/h prices are higher for the Bravo's but lower for everything else I need to buy :D

Atm I'm just TPing in Bravo's and swapping in Republic's for WS/SATA working well thus far I must say. I cannot wait for Assassin though!
