Macroing in haste soloFollow

What is the best way to macro in haste gear for utusemi while solo? I'm level 58 and want to solo a bit while seeking. Right now I have 2 lines: the first adds haste gear, second casts utsusemi. After the spell goes off I just hit my solo gear macro.

If I change my macro to:

/ma "Utsusemi: Ichi" <me>
/wait ?
/(add haste gear)

Will that let me keep on my eva+ gear longer and still get the haste for recast timers? How long should the /wait be? Thanks!

Casting time for Utsusemi: ichi is 4 seconds. You would want to make your wait timer 3 and that will pop on your haste on before the spell fires. This is how my ichi macro is setup and I think it works very nice:

/equpips eva gear
/ma "Utsusemi: Ichi"
/wait 3
/equips haste gear

This is of course assuming you use windower macros.

The idea is, Fast Cast affects casting time of a spell. If you want to shorten the duration of the cast (like having it go off at 60% into the casting bar instead of 80%), put gear with Fast Cast on at the start of the spell. Homam legs have the Fast Cast trait on them, so they will affect casting time.

Fast Cast and Haste affect Recast of a spell. If you want to have the recast timer of the spell be 40 seconds instead of 45, have Fast Cast gear and gear with Haste on it equipped at that point in the casting bar when the spell actually goes off. Homam legs have Fast Cast and Haste, so they will doubly affect recast time.

You can find every spells' base cast time on wiki. You can set up macros with a wait in them in either FFXI macros or windower macros, hvae spellcast do it for you, or even manually swap with a separate macro, or a built in <stpc> command that fires off the gear swap when you hit enter midcast.

Aye that'd be fine. Wait 3 is what I do.

And if I'm ever shadowless and casting ichi and don't want to risk being hit, I jam at my evasion gear macro while the cast is going.
