I've thought about that, but I don't want to ask people to waste hours on end curebombing me while I tank Korrigans. I don't have Sea yet, so I'm not involved in end-game, and have nothing better to do with my time than solo merits and skill parrying.

I figure I have a pretty good deal here: I'm sitting on over 90 Beastman Bloods, 23 Dragon Bloods, well over 250 BS and KS farmed, 30 merits, and I can get my NPC to level 70 all without leaving Ifrit's Cauldron. All it requires is patience, which I have. Ifrit's Cauldron bought me my Oily Trousers. /shrug

After parsing thousands of Nightmare Bat kills across many different runs, my total drop rates averaged out to approximately 2%, +/- .3%. I didn't farm with my Thief's Knife, as I preferred a focus on pure haste gear and Blau/SK. I don't have AA, so that doesn't factor in.

Sometimes I'd get six in one day, others I'd land nothing for five hours. It was sporadic, but averaged out to an extremely low drop rate. Nonetheless, I more or less own that particular market until my stock is sold. >_>

You seriously went 4/6 on a tier 1 synth? Dear lord, Mel. Give me some of your HQ luck. :\ And here I am sitting on 0/7 on HQ SH's and down ~560k from doing so even though I'm at tier 2 on them. Grats, but damn, I'm jealous.

Update time!

A few salvage runs ago Zhayolm run (We hardly ever do these.). We popped Jakko early on. WOOOT Skadi body 15=mine! Then we continue on with no drops. Get to 5th floor and kill madame. Skadi legs 35 drop! MINE! 1/1 we had never killed her before! SWEETS! So run ends and i have the extremely elusive legs 35 1/1 and my body 15, twas a great day!

Been camping the AH for 2 weeks for a Cuchulain's Belt but always missed them during sleepy time. Woke up today and 1 was up, bought it asap for standard price (yay no price jackers) of 2 mil. YAY!

Also had some rediculous merit parties last 2 days. Got final Deep breathing merit capping out Drg merits, also went from 2-4 marksmanship merits and my 4th HP merit. /cheer.

O.o, nice stuff guys. That's a pretty awesome back item deadgye. and as for Banalaty, I have to /bow to that. Jekko isn't a big deal since that things 100% droprate, but I've killed the floor 5 madame 5-6 times so far and seen no skadi's legs. The past two times in a row we had macha's hands, but no skadi's yet. The cuchulain's belt is also a great item,and a lot rarer to see than the mantle, so I have to congratulate that.

I'm enjoying salvage a bit too much maybe, but my linkshell is a very good one. Honestly I don't know what everybody is griping about of salvage drops being so horrible (with a few exceptions in silver sea's), because the droprates seem to be about 10-15% on most mobs which isn't bad if your shell is capable of running nightly, you just get only one chance per night. My shell has been running for over a year and a half, and tonight will be our 590th night in action, on our 983rd run (we often double zone runs), with the history of every run recorded and archived. In this time we have completed 231 pieces across all members, and never has the shell engaged in any duping nor did we know of it. Nobody was ever banned or lost, this is salvage for us, and they're all very good at what they do. I even got to lead a run last weekend in arraga remnants, and we saw both Macha's crown off the Psycheflayer AND Deimos's Cuirass of the floor 5 qq astraologer, so it's not as bad as they say when you average a large number of kills of the same nm together. If your linkshell is capable of running small man groups of 7-9 people and still take out the chariot regularly you will see it isn't really that bad, and I'm loving my time here.

As for an accomplishment of my own, it's not an aquisition per se, but I'm still damn proud of it. Last night we did a 7 man Zhayolam run (the one where we got the second macha's hands) and ended up giving me a main DD role. The shell trusted me with this act and for the first time since I began I was pathos free in a run. Not only that, but when we got to Battleclad Chariot we had myself, a warrior, and another warrior to choose from. Because one of the warriors "wasn't very good" so to say, I was chosen with the warrior who was, and together we co-tanked Battleclad Chariot to the ground!!! I got to be a MAIN TANK on a salvage chariot! And we ended up with a super coin purse plus the two lvl 25 pieces to boot. I had a lot of fun with that, between using collaborator to swap hate with the warrior, and trick attack + dancing edge to increase her enmity in turn with voke, as well as feint acids etc, we had no problems. I got to turn a few heads since "Thief doesn't melee chariots", but in this case not only DID I, I did it very well. That made my night because I was afforded a luxury most thieves wouldn't dream of getting allowed, the fact that we won and I got to show off my jobs potential just made it even better.

Yeah, for the hardcore salvagers that go 7x a week, its not really that bad. If people could do dynamis 7x a week they never would have fixed droprates either. But most people cant keep up with 7x a week. My shell is a 3x a week group and not nearly the 1337 level of some ive heard. We are still working our way through and havent defeated every boss/NM or perfected all zones yet. I guess from those towards the bottom looking up, its rather depressing at times to go weeks without anything (Or killing LAC over...and over....only to get skadi body/mask, then another body/mask, then mask x2....etc GRRR. No one has wanted/needed skadi for months)

Of course its the same for every endgame activity. I happen to be in one of the premier dynamis LS's on my server and we had no need of enhanced droprate honestly. If you were clearing cities on a regular basis, you got plenty of AF. If your doing salvage WELL 7x a week, of course you aquire gear exponentially faster than a 2-3x a week group that struggles. Or an Einherjar group that spams T1 because they cant hack T2-3 to access odin very well, or a limbus group that does 1 zone at a time and not always wins will think of homam/omega/AF+1 as rare. HNM groups that always have enough people to hold/kill at any hour wont complain about the system as much etc.

Its all relative. If you are in the most successful groups, it is hard to see any real complaints with the rate of gear acquisition. If you are not in the top-tier groups, it will come VERY slowly if at all no matter what the event.

The question then becomes, who do you tailor the game for? Only the hardcore see real success? Or more accessible to the "avg" gamers. That is a more philosophical query so I wont bog down this thread with thoughts on that. Just end with, its all relative. Or in the words of my father who heard this from who knows where:

"Its all floors and ceilings."

There will always be someone above you and someone below you in anything you do. What is the bottom of the barrel for you (floor) is what someone else aspires to be (their ceiling) and vice versa. Its all relative.

So I was meriting on Greater Colibri earlier today and party was going really well, we were up to chain 58 and I was setting up for a fully stacked SATA assassin's charge + hide weaponskill...

And one of the birds asploded

We still don't know how big the esplosion was though, reports say people found fragements of colibri beak in the caederva mire, other eye witnesses claim of disfigured chunks of bird legs raining down upon a hapless party of black mages at the Gates of Halvung. The only thing we DO know for sure... is that poor bird is in a better, happier place now. One very far away from sharp pointed pokey objects.

Friend in LS was just making some for fun and happened to HQ it, and sold it to me for a very reasonable price. <3. Only thing is I wish i had gotten to make/sign it myself like my DH+1, but ill take this no-hassle, unsigned version just the same for my trick attack build just the same.

Also Second Lieutenant O. Now i can do RvB with all the cool kids and not worry about AP for salvage! Woot!

In other news, my LS did Odin recently, then followed it up with T2 win, T1 win, and 1/1 on EVIL T3 all back to back! Just need an additional easy T1/2 win to get a few more people access then ANOTHER Odin! This might be the fastest Odin repeat yet for us. More shots an Nlegs, Nhead and a Vfork for my drg! So very happy about that! Those are the top 3 items on my list from that group and all from odin so WHOOO!

In rather minor news, I have now officially tweaked my mandalic stab macros to be at max potential for both SAMS and TAMS without adding an aditional macro for each build since (oddly enough) Agi adds more damage than Dex for TAMS. (getting my Drn. Leggings+1 is wat started it). I realized they are better for TAMS than Heca+1, so the revamp began. I am now more optimized than ever!

Wirke Wardecors haubergeon style. I know it's not the specific augmentation that some jobs are going for but it's an all around piece that's good for a lot of jobs.

Also, Melphina you just joined my "I hate you" list. I have wanted that knife for ages and in a few months I might be going for it again. Wish me luck people. I spent 3 months on it and nothing.

Denali seems to have capped evasion+1 for me, ever only see Askar & Goli drop on every boss run.

And attempt #3 @ ACP should come sometime today, trying to decide to stick with the strategy of THF/RNG and help out on main crystal, or switch to /NIN and be on Thrall control.

got swift belt and mirke this week. (whm/rdm, blm/whm(stuns), cor/rng, rng,war, thf/nin(me), pld/war). I handled adds and spammed collab for the DDs.

Viper Biite is a single hit weaponskill (and as /nin the offhand gets a hit) that double attack, while adding ddexterity and agility to the base damage of the hit. At level 39 400 damage is pretty respectable, remember that mobs total HP is only about 500-1500 till the mid level range, and after 50-75 it starts goin up a bit, bit G Colibri max hp is around ~~~3200 Ish *I honestly dont know exact amount), so a 400 damage weaponskill is good at level 39, and on bats/damselflys it gets piercing bonus plus a weaponskill closing distortion can wreck havoc. Even still.



IT IS still extremely high, the funny thing though is... it could have been higher. My weaponskill set has 53 dexterity and 7 agility added to it (I was using my dragon harness +1 with feint), and this was a stacked SATA HIDE+ assassin's charge shot, and I checked my TP resurn. All 8 hits landed, and the first was a crit modded by dex and agi. The corsair in my party used chaos roll and the bard was using Minuet IV and haste, this was a lucky roll and I had about 720 attack which was ALMOST capped (I would have needed 774 attack to cap.... approximately ~~50 more). This was with blau/sirocco.

Now consider if I had my skadi's cuirie in lieu of Dragon harness +1 == 8 more agi, 1 more dex, and added 2-3 base damage from WSC, added to Heca subligar +1 in lieu of dusk - 9 dex, or my X's knife.

I would have busted the 2700 mark with ease with any of these pieces, had I had all of them could have neared closer to the 2800 mark ; ;. Still, that was hella fun, and I <3 <3 my dancing edges so much hehe.

Dang Melph...I don't understand the effects of Dex Agi Str & Atk on WS yet, I hope to learn some day soon when i start getting better at thief. I want some of that sexy gear, but sadly I don't Endgame yet because i can't find a AUEST friendly shell ._.

Anyways just to keep on topic, I'm 4/4 on crit % now =] All doing that crappy solo in cape town. I've been in a merit party only once on thief XD In fact, i haven't had a proper exp party on thief since 72 =/

Well NOW I'm happy!! I don't have any personal acquisitions to speak of, but things are really looking up. I have my salvage shell going strong, with high priority on both skadi's cuirie and skadis chausses, and my Einherjar linkshell just killed its third Odin tonight, the first of which I was present for. We're utilizing the feather mule rotation strategy so as long as we don't get khimaira or behemoth on tier 3 wing mega (HATE YOOOU KHIMMY >.<) we should be entering odin's chamber every few weeks.

When I applied to both my salvage linkshell AND my einherjar linkshell application status was closed, but my salvage shell put me on a waiting list and I got in a month or two later. My einherjar linkshell was not accepting thieves at all but my app was reviewed by the leader and he gave me a chance because my gear was so good, asking that I level ranger to help with Odin. But after the past couple months I performed so well I'm just going to be going to Einherjar fulltime as the only thief in the alliance.

Tonight's Odin I was put in the ranger party to assist with hate control, collaborating the 3 rangers to keep them alive, but I was /war and since Odin was straight tanked I used my Kirin strategy. Sub /war, and utilize my sneak attack/trick attack solo abilities as my main form of damage output in each respective critical build (as I have said before, a pure agility build DOES have its place, and this is it!!). With my newly aquired X's knife this is the first HNM I pitted it against, and I'm VERY pleased. I ate coeurl subs since he has an aoe that dispells ALL buffs including food, used zerk/cry and collab as needed, and my solo sneak and trick attacks were both doing over 300 damage each on average, which is GOOD. I discovered he has INSANELY high defense, because barrages were doing 480, and slugwinders 350-420 damage. I was not only a help in hate management, I was a reliable high tier DD on par with the rangers. Their melee did more than my dagger of course, and they ws a lot more, but my solo criticals were a HUGE assistance in damage over the fight, and it mattered for the win!!. I also discovered Odin doesn't have alliance hate so I can still Hide once he's pulled, and since I can use sleepy potions and opo opo necklace to tp to 300% outside, it opens the possibilities of a berserk SATA assassin's charge HIDE frontal Shark Bite opening on one of the paladins, just like I used to do in sky. Finally, since Odin's drops are direct off of him rather than out of a box, and since the odin specific drop is NOT 100% (we got Hofud today), my treasure hunter 4 DOES matter here. With this in mind, I will never be doing Einherjar as anything other than thief, and that's cool!!

This was my first odin, one of many more to come for sure. We didn't get N legs but I don't care since that's just a matter of time. I had a LOT of fun in Odin, and since einherjar is a scheduled event it revolves around MY schedule so the dragons aery and Nidhogg are officially old news.

Being the only representative of my job in certain events -- very cool
Never having to run 20 minutes through the Boyhada Tree and deal with the crap sh*t of the Dragon's Aery EVER AGAIN ---- *&%^%$# PRICELESS!!

And to boot, I have a three day weekend, so I'm off of work from now straight through to Tuesday. It''s gonna be an awesome weekend indeed.
