A question about the Thief Tool...Follow

Well, actually about the Thief Tool, Skeleton Key, and Living Key...

Are all of the items single-use only, or can they be used multiple times (if so, how many, on avg.). I have only seen chests a couple of times total, and I was wondering if it the cost of keeping these items (Thief Tools in particular) on hand is actually worth it...as opposed to going for Key drops (kind of a pain). Thanks in advance for any help you all can give me.
