Simple question. Does magic accuracy, or more broadly, anything under my control have any effect on cursna? I'm pretty sure the only thing I can remember off the top of my head affecting it is healing magic skill. Just wanna be sure, since I'm redoing some healing macros.

Are you talking about removing doom? I'm guessing you are.
Anyway, no, I don't think anything affects the chance. I don't think skill matters, because I've noticed similar levels of doom-removing success from people that have capped Healing and those who powerleveled their WHM to cap and don't even have 3-digit Healing skill yet.
Cursna is always going to be a sketchy way of removing doom at best. If you're planning to fight stuff that dooms, anyone expecting to get doomed should either A) bring a bunch of holy waters or hallowed waters, or B) be a job like BLU or PUP who can just get back up using Apoc atma and isn't terribly affected by being weakened.

In my experience, Light/Apollo Staff helps remove Doom. I haven't noticed any difference from healing skill, magic accuracy, or MND. Even the Light Staff thing I didn't believe for a long time but I did create a single-target Cursna macro that uses Apollo's Staff instead of Yagrush, and I've noticed it's considerably more effective.

I have to admit, most of my "old school" experience with Doom removal took place in level-capped Phomiuna Aqueducts and Sacrarium, areas where either the Light Staff wasn't usable or (later) didn't work properly due to being level 51. I therefore never really had much of a chance to see what effect it might have had at higher levels. I'll try giving that a go from now on (despite having completed a magian Cure staff, I still do carry Apollo's around for Repose and light nukes)
I'll try that too. I always piled on healing skill for Cursna, but if my old faithful light staff will help too (and maybe the light grip I use for repose) then it's worth a shot.

Well, my main Cursna macro still uses Yagrush. However, I have a second Cursna macro on another macro set which uses Apollo's Staff. I use whichever is most appropriate. Most of the time I cast it, I'm removing normal curse rather than doom, so that's why my normal macro still has Yagrush in it. Also for scenarios like Chloris, it's invaluable.

It's been tried; it doesn't have an effect. Cursna doesn't fail with doom due to an issue of "accuracy", the spell just has a certain chance of failing when used for doom. Same reason why holy water doesn't always remove it.
But that doesn't necessarily negate the possibility of the Light Staff helping it somehow.
Semi-relevant observation earlier tonight:
Divine Caress *does* function with doom, if the following Cursna is successful. It probably doesn't increase the chances of Cursna working, but if you do get it to land, the subsequent doom protection WILL take effect. Managed to see a "no effect" on Bukhis's Apocalyptic Ray >_>

Saw this a while back in the same situation; it is disappointing that Divine Caress doesn't affect Cursna's efficacy, but it's super hot to see that "no effect" in the log. I think the most frustrating thing about Cursna is casting it 4 or 5 times on a single target just to see a BRD/WHM successfully remove it.

I don't really think skill matters for that, though.
What really gets me is seeing that BRD/WHM stick white magic enfeebles that the RDM hasn't been able to land with repeated tries.

Yeah, that's exactly what pisses me off about it, I guess, skill is irrelevant. I've been a nearly full-time White Mage for uh...788 days, apparently, you'd think I'd be better than the BRD/WHM with the ol' Doomna.
As for Enfeebles, yeah, that's just stupid. I remember somebody landing Paralyze or something on an HNM as SMN/WHM and talking about it on the Summoner forums; Mellowy threw a fit, lol.

Skill doesn't matter for so many things that I'm just not that particularly bothered by this particular case, I guess. (Enhancing Magic, looking mainly at you)
