New Stuff for WHM in September 2010 UpdateFollow

Well, some details are out including

Only going to 85 so we will all be WHM85/SCH or RDM42

JA: White Mage: An ability offering increased resistance against status ailments.

JT: - White Mage: Shield Def. Bonus

Interestingly there are new spells (may impact on us) mentioned which increase the attributes of party members (possibly SCH as they have a meritable JA that does this and the update was pictured with a SCH) and magic spells to manage enmity levels.


Incidentally, /SCH at 42 gives us Sandstorm for cheap movement speed (Dune Boots + Sandstorm). Oh and Refresh from /RDM of course.

While I do love my desert boots when I'm on my scholar and they will be fun for my whm... I'm actually more interested in sandstorm for my White mage for erasing that pesky double dark weather in dynamis and apollyon. /sch will never get light weather, but to me simply killing "cure potency -25%" is win. So that's one other thing I'm looking forward to...

I'm excited about this!
Cura really needed some boost, while Divine Caress might become useful against ******* Imps or Paralyze spamming mobs.
Also Regen III for SCH means we'll probabily get IV somewhere in the future!

Strangely, SCH actually gets Regen and Regen II at earlier levels than WHM. Honestly, I don't know what can be said about them finally giving SCH Regen III other than "It's about **** time!"

Really other than hastega or haste II, this update gives everything I could have hoped for. I've been wanting Cura II for a very, very long time. Rdms get 'Gain' spells the same level we get the 'Boost' spells which leads me to believe ours are aoe. Finally, the wording on Divine Caress sounds like it will work with Esuna/Sacrifice. Which is pretty **** hot if it's true.

Wtf, how long could you have really been waiting for it? The spell isn't that old. Now, I've been waiting for Teleport - Lufaise and Teleport - Wajoam for a very, very long time :p

SCH Storms and helixes cover all 8 elements. And just now Enspells will, too, cover all elements. It's about time we get our missing 2 elements.

I think the legs look cool; I'm curious to see how the body turns out. I hope it gives refresh as well!

I need something better looking to idle in. Cleric's Briault does not go well with Tatsumaki Sitagoromo (neither does noble's tunic; almost tempted to just buy an ixion cloak to idle in)

Cura II partially scares me in that I'm thinking about the damage we'd have to take to cure even higher (400+?). Granted we'd be able to heal it all back, just seems like it would be risky, that and enmity would have to be an issue at some point; it has potential to be much larger than our current curaga II-esque cura >.>!

The whm AF3 looks amazing!!


If the enhances Divine veil effects works like the one in yagrush + divine benison X_X goodbye casting na's all the time

And the converts 2/5 % cure HP to MP could be overpowered too! Noawadays is really easy to get to 50% cure potency cap and if this convert works with ga's you could literally gain mp while casting curaga IV XD

Wow the conversion of cured HP to MP... simply awesome!

Also, cure potency... yeah... gonna be really easy to hit the cap soon. Expect Roundel price to plummet. Picking your Cure set is not going to be so easy in the future... I think the no-brainer pieces will be Surya's Staff, Aristocrat's Coat, Orison Cap, and Orison Cape. That gives you Cure Potency +45% if you have the +2 cap. There are several single pieces that'll bridge that last 5%, or you can combine pieces like Augur's Gloves and Fylgja Torque.

It won't, the "enhances Divine Veil" is the only thing Yagrush has, it's completely worthless as a melee weapon and in all other aspects. They wouldn't destroy a mythic like that. In case it's of any use - CuraII is about 88k (can't remember the exact figure - it's almost 2am and brain fried) from Brave Ox in Rabao before it gets stuck on the AH for like 200k or something.

Idk, but looking at the new ToM trials that grant access to Relic WS's (Cata says hi), G.Horn stepping aside to let the new +3 instruments reign supreme, and how the new armors are basically trashing old content: I really don't think Yagrush will stay supreme.

Hadn't even thought of that. Guess we'll have to see. Roundel price won't drop all the way because RDMs can use it and it is super rare; it may come down a bit though. Re: Cura II is also available from a quest in Abyssea - Attohwa. The quest is called "Something In The Air". You can find this on FFXI Wiki here, but let me put my thoughts on it..

First thing, get the map. The map for this zone, like the real Attohwa Chasm, is worse than useless really but it'll help a little. I suggest you do this right after a Aby party so you have plenty of time. Or do it if you got a surplus of stones. The starter is Yoran-Oran btw.

The thing the wiki leaves out is it can be ANY flower around F-8, aka that conflux. Basically you're trying to find the one that will give you a key item..well, to show what's making people sick. Try to find either conflux 00 or 02 after, it will tag both for you if you activate and is a quick way back (as always activate the conflux at base camp if you don't want to waste time running back)

It's not a bad run, you'll see jellyfish mobs on the way, but as always, I s/ied there (wasn't sure if they'd aggro) If you've done Sheep in Antlion's Clothing, kinda go like you'd go to get to the fight....that's the best way I can explain it without being there.

I'm sure some people will exploit it to sell for stupid prices but why not just do the quest if you got Scars of Abyssa? It took me about 10 minutes. And that's ONE scroll I don't have to buy. :)

Actually in this context, you're right I did. However, for me (totally personal preference) after extensive testing (which is on here) I plumped for Blessed, ideally +1 as my hands of choice. Healer's Mitts +1 are excellent but I decided that for the sake of around 3 points on Cure V I'd just keep Blessed rather than having both (I use a full haste build, so would have to carry Blessed). If they make more of a difference now, I may bother to upgrade.

Be a lot happier if I could HQ my freaking Blessed though >.< Seraph mitts for minus enmity build are a possibility if really struggling I guess?

That's fair. Oh! Btw though. I haven't taken the time to cap out my healing skill and I have a pretty basic set up when it comes to cure potency.(Have a nasty max mind build though) What were your cure VI looking like at 80 in comparison to your Vs?

Being honest, I barely ever use it yet. I suspect with the new atma and abyssites that are being farmed up, HP will go up to crazy levels and then I may use it more. My Cure Vs do just over 1k. 1007 ish I think and last time I cast Cure VI it was about 1237. I'll go test to make sure I'm not pulling the numbers out of my behind. Bear in mind I do have capped Cure potency now, I don't think I've cast a VI since I got the Orison cape.

My healing skill isn't yet recapped to 80, let alone 85. It's crawling up but I think it will take quite a while. Kinda reminds me of when I hit 75 and spent 3 months curing/raising in Dynamis and then it finally capped.

I was hoping VI would pull away from V more with cure potency gear instead of just being 200 more hp still.D: If no city owns it. Alicorn unicorn a great tester. That's who I tested VI on when I first got it.

Cure potency has a linear effect on all cure spells. It won't affect one more than the other. The difference lies in the formula for how healing skill, MND, and VIT affect it. Cure VI seems to require much more MND/skill to make it worthwhile than Cure V, which pretty much follows the trend of all Cure spells so we shouldn't be surprised that it sucks for now. For example I think when I first learned Cure III back in the day, it only healed something like 130 HP. It was quite a few levels before it became a useful spell. We'll just have to keep checking now and then as we level/skill up.

My numbers on my cures were a little low... I had 1058 for V but its still going up now as I level. Just cured with VI for 1338 but not sure if that's capped. That's at 82.

Anyone come across data(Stats) on the new whm accessory? Every job seems to have gotten a new empyreon accessory with this update.

No, but I can probably pretty safely say that it's just like Cura, only with a higher cap on the cure (and probably an increase in the multiplier over the last hit's damage).

EDIT: Based on one comment to date on the Wiki consisting of a single "hit by 1000 Needles", it looks like the multiplier is about 0.275 (70/256?) for Cura II, on top of a base of 100 (your Cure II base, more likely than not). I'd have to actually do some testing to see what the multiplier on Cura actually is, considering that nobody's getting anything like consistent results when I looked that up.

Only tried it a few times in one short party farming jellyfish in attowha but it almost seems like a shadow for the next enfeeble.
