Healing Magic Skill UpsFollow

I've levelled up to 77 without a single Healing Magic Skill Up. Not one. And yes, I have done a fair amount of healing after hitting 76.

Just wondered if anyone has had the same issue?

Well, when I got WHM to 75, I capped Healing by hopping into Besieged, finding a general, and spamming Cures on him. By the higher levels, I was usually managing around 5-6 skill levels per round of Besieged by doing this.

If the Undead Swarm is attacking, you can also try tossing Cures at some of the undead mobs instead. However, this is likely to cause you to eventually pull unwanted aggro and either die, or have to focus on surviving which is going to take away from your Cure spamming time.

Curespamming a general is much safer and more carefree in comparison. You shouldn't ever be in danger as long as you keep away from any mobs that approach.

Slightly from my exp with it, but then again, healing skillups are so slow that any boost to it is good. Personally i just spammed it on Undead Swarm. In the 1 hr besieged i got 25 full skill points which ended up capping me before the run was over.

Just think back to Divine and Enf skill, and how fast they skilled up on mobs. Cures skill at roughly that rate on undead. Its by far, the best way to skill healing up.. Now Enhancing... thats another story XD

Thanks for all the responses. I guess I'm going to be doing Besieged for a while. Oh well, I needed IS anyway.

I've found myself getting more skill ups while PLing people and just curing lower level characters in general than in level appropriate parties...it's something I wish SE would have addressed by now as it's completely backwards to get nothing but .1's in a level 75 party but getting .3's on lower level players.

Just wanted to report back that I've done a few Besieged, and I concur that healing definitely skills up faster on generals. I had originally spent about 45 minutes casting Cure on myself for skillups, and got less than 2 points. Spamming Cure on generals for 3 Besieged in a row, I'm up to 291 skill now which is about a 14 point gain in about 2-3 hours. Also gained a bit of club skill meleeing for MP whenever I was out of temporary meds.

Also, a good place to skill club/enfeeb/enhancing/etc all at once is Walk of Echoes. For the last few days I've been going out there solo on WHM/NIN between Besieged and killing the single crab at the entrance. Then after I kill him, his buddies come and kill me and I just Home Point. 1000 gil for a decent skillup session, and a chance at a coin. They are pretty easy, just keep Slow and Para up, but don't Silence because all he casts are Enwater and Water III, both with a moderate cast time. He has a ton of HP, so the fight takes a while. I gain a good 2-3 points in club every time I do this, as well as points in enfeebling and enhancing and sometimes other skills.

For reference, I discovered that if you kill the crab with:
Melee - Two C-Crabs come running
Magic - Two D-Crabs come running
Weaponskill - One Mega Crab comes running

The latter (killing with weaponskill) might be a good way start an organized crab run by eliminating one of the mega crabs very early in the run.
