Well, now that I'm almost done (thank god), I wanted to throw out another alternative spot. For the Holy/Banish trial where you have to kill 150 bst mobs,

I have mainly seen Ul. range listed, but I decided to go to Jugner (S) and concentrate on the 7 War Smilodons that spawn in the general area of the outpost. These are a bit easier (about 50exp per kill) than the other tigers, plus theres no aggro, magic or otherwise in the area. With Sigil, you can also get refresh/regen/and meal extension also. As Whm/bst I was able to knock out 140 yesterday and plan to finish up this morning, and have really enjoyed this trial compared to the others.

Anyway...Good Hunting.

There is one in Whitegate for the areas around. If it says the weather will be windy (rather than 'with a chance of') for today, tomorrow or the next day then head to those areas. If it just says there is a chance of, then don't bother and do something else.

This might not apply everywhere in every situation, but I will say that every single time that I've been camping Kreutzet and the NPC ever even MENTIONED wind showing up (usually he'd say "sunny with a chance of winds"), it never failed to show up at least once at some point on that day despite the fact he only said "a chance". If it's the other way around ("windy with a chance of sunshine") it just means that the wind will be much more frequent, and will likely recur 1-3 times during the same day if it ever goes away.

Sometimes the weather even shows up on days when it's not forecasted, but every time it WAS forecasted, it always did show up for me. I would suggest sticking it out if you ever see the NPC mention wind at all. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but even a "chance" of wind is almost a "near certainty" with the weather NPCs.

If all else fails, wait for Windsdays. For some of these trials, it's almost pointless to wait on weather; the mobs are significantly harder or much more limited, and the weather itself is probably much rarer (wind is one of the most common weathers in the game). Spiders@wind is a joke compared to something like soulflayers@lightning or wamouras@fire. With those latter trials, you pretty much have to keep an eye on the upcoming days and simply devote Lightningdays and Firesdays to work on them, or else you are going to be wasting a lot of time standing around and doing nothing.

Well I'm up to the arcana trial now. Not been pushing super hard for this, much as I want it. Looking forward to getting this trial done fairly fast though as Ro'Maeve is never empty and I can pick up some much needed tags from FoV.

Has anyone done/started the light damage trial yet? The one where the killing blow has to be light damage of at least 50? If so, do you know whether Carby's meteor works? I have SMN at my disposal so it might help. Otherwise I'm assuming it's Banish all the way?

According to Enilanerda over on the Summoner forums, pet kills count as long as it's your pet.

I posted this on the SMN forum, but for those of us using SMN to knock out these quests Garland of Bliss will count as light magical damage for this stage. It provides another alternative if your meteorite doesn't quite kill the mob of if you want to save some MP.

Spiders isn't a Day/Weather trial; it's weather only. Wind/Light/Fire/lightning at that.

Finally completed staff!! The final trial was alot more annoying than I had thought it would be. Didn't really think about the fact that pixies don't stack. For me that involved being drg/whm buying a recall-meriph ring, killing High Priest, Instant retrace, change to smn/blm, grauberg, trade pixie, warp, and repeat. Atleast I finally put some use to those 900k of allied notes, although now I have 7 recall rings with 9/10 charges...lol.

Anyway, time to move on to the next weapon....Good Luck everyone.

I don't want to assume or anything, but were you switching to SMN/BLM so that you could be wearing your Teiwaz when you traded the Bottled Pixies? If this is, indeed, the reason you were changing, it's important to note that (according to wiki) you can trade the Bottled Pixies on any job. I hope this doesn't upset anyone who did it this way.

Think you don't need your Teiwaz equipped for it to work. I accidentally traded one while wearing my Dryad Staff from my MP set (Looks almost identical) and it still counted.

I finished my staff today, in the process of which I capped my SMN xp. Something that hasn't happened ever in 4 years. By far and away the most irritating part for me was the killing 150 beast where the last blow was 50+ light. I did it with SMN and found it was easier to solo than go with a group. A friend helped me with the last 30 or so and then 2-3 of the DD in my shell camped the High Priest for me outside Castle Oz. I set my homepoint in Bastok [S] and subbed BLM. I traded and then would recall back. You definitely don't need the staff equipped, I traded all of mine with Dryad equipped by mistake lol... I realised afterwards. It's the trading that's important.

You can do a quick circuit and be back in time to collect the next bottled pixie in 5mins. The end result is amazing but you'll probably want to keep your Dryad staff if you have one for the MP and then switch in the Teiwaz once that's gone. I've just spent quite a while updating macros on WHM, BLM, SMN, BRD, RDM and SCH :)

Well, considering that I've been doing my "100 vermin + wind day/weather" trials outside Whitegate, that'd be my pick.

I finished mine this week.

Treants; I did that in Grauburg(s) with a group on smn. Watch out for fleas, especially the NM; he wiped us once >< blaaah. Finished that in a evening. Was on summoner.

Spiders under weather; I did that in the booyah tree with a friend who was breaking a latent. We did that in a couple afternoons. Was on whm for this one and he was on pld.

100 mobs under lightsday/light weather; that took me a week because of timing. The MP Clock even tho some things out of date, is your friend there. I mostly did this on lesser colibri on smn since I can solo them.

100 arcana mobs under lightsday; I did part of this with a friend in Fei'Yin's basement and the rest in Ro'Maeve. Did FoV a lot there. ^^ Got this done in 3 days.

150 beast type mobs, get kill with holy damage; I did this on smn for a lot of it. Had some help for part of it which I did on whm (I had more success there) but unlike the rest of you I chose a different mob to do it on; coeurls/toramas. I spent a lot of time in the temple of ugly (around Flaros's spawn point; I ended up getting 3 of his whiskers) killing them, also did some in the Labyrinth of Onzozo with help. (If you go that route, let anyone who's camping ose know that you're only after toramas, not after their nm. They can HAVE ose.) I farm coeurls for meat anyway (I make stuff out of that for my gil) so it only seemed natural. Strangely sometimes Meteorite seemed to miss now and then (I SWORE carby got killshot with that move sometimes but it didn't count, dangit dangit, on several occasions) but it wasn't so maddening when I was farming anyway. :) If you do this with help, tell your buddy to turn his **** or disengage when it's at 1%; then just be evil and banish2/banish3/holy it. That worked for me every time. (/sch is VERY helpful if you do that!)

And the pixies; really easy. I went with a couple friends, went into Castle Oz [s] and we did a yag slaughter. (I was on whm) When a bottled pixie dropped, I'd excuse myself, go run out of range, then recall-pashh, go let it go, then come back. Repeat until all turned in; since I was whming I stayed on my old setup until I turned in the last pixie. My old shield/club is on the mannequin now. Not sure if I wanna sell that templar mace, yet.

Yagudo high priest right outside castle oztroja [s] in meriph [s] have a 100% drop on pixie bottles. Can spawn as anywhere from decent challenge to VT (at least thats what i've seen). Oddly enough my first High priet was VT and managed to solo it as rdm/blm without even breaking a sweat.

I finished my 150 beasts in West Sarutabaruta (s) with a lv 20/21 sync, though East Ronfaure(s) would also work. Banishga does about 80 damage as /blm, which is ~25% of the rabbit's hp.

Rate up for Khiinroye. That actually works really well! Good tip!

I have to take it even further and have to use banish instead of banishga. No lvl 75 whm here.

I went blm/whm, blm/pld will work too probably. Sync to 21/22, gear for MND where you can, eat mind food (goblin mush pot). Banish does 52 dmg each time. It helps that my sync partner is rdm/brd. Light threnody lands every time. Even from /brd.

Regen, refresh, and meal extender are awesome for this. I have no down time at all. Only thing that was slowing me down was the lack of rabbits.

If soloing/duoing , go to Caederva Mire outside Nashmau on the exit facing Hazhalm Testing Grouds/Tellaca Cove. Only negatives is the 3 pops right outside Nashmau on the path to Hazhalm and thats one of the best camps for them. A duo/trio will kill just fast enough that as you finish off 3rd, the 1st one is about to repop.

Weather there can be a hit/miss though, but should be pretty frequent and persistent if there is weather. Check weatherman before going there.

If you have a sizable group ie: a PT of 4-6, Gauberg Treants are best. There's lots of them and you can burn through 5-10 per weather cycle, maybe more. The only real limit is usually the mage's MP.

As SMN I was able to do both saplings/treant portion of both my Teiwaz's solo (though in both cases, I teamed up and or got help) but I was able to solo when required. saplings was noticably faster, but in both cases, expect to take some damage. Too much of a pain/mp drain for WHM to solo as the saplings hit quite hard. SMN or RDM recommended.

The 150x kills with 50+ light damage killing blow?

OP to Jugner Forest [S], there are War Smilodon spawns around the OP. These mobs are all just barely EP to 75. (Note that once we are level 80, these mobs will be mostly, if not all, Too Weak, and you'd wanna go elsewhere.)

I just meleed them down with Joyeuse to <=10%, and then swapped to staff and flung Banish II. If that doesn't do it, fling a Banishga afterward. Obviously, you'd want to be subbing /WHM to do this. /PLD also works, but then you give up Banishga which can be an annoyance for when Banish II doesn't quite kill, which will probably be often. (You don't want to take too many risks with Joyeuse, it has a habit of doing double crits when you least expect it and prematurely killing your target.)

You can also use Banish 1, but a half resist will mean doing less than 50 damage and possibly not getting credit. Also, bear in mind that unless you cast it in a MND build, silly things like Darksday penalties might also push your damage to JUST under the 50 mark.

Also, make sure to get Sigil; Sigil protection will make it extremely easy for a RDM to survive against these, which will allow you to focus more energy toward killing them.

For the treants go to Grauberg, there are 5-6 treants if you go to the west area of the large south area. You can use this particular staff on other mages as well. I did it on SMN and got 100 in two days but I got lucky and got into a couple of pts and one alliance also doing treants for magian.

As for spiders if you're soloing I suggest the tree since some are still EP. Weather may not be constant but in Kuftal the spidrs swpawn where the elementals spawn so hard for a mage to solo even on smn.

I'm currently stuck on Trial 834 (Finishing Blow 50+ Light Damage) as well. Things are going real slow for me. I have gotten about 15 done and most of those were with friends killing rabbits in Abyssea - La Theine. I wonder how difficult the Smilidons in Jugner [S] would be to kill as a WHM/BLM at Level 77. Shouldn't be too bad, right?

Congrats to all the ones who have finished their staff!

Just curious.. for those that are currently on Trial 1701, how are killing the Elementals going? One I'm kinda dreading, but getting a group to do a FoV in Sky for an hour on Lightsday shouldn't be too bad.

A note regarding the smilodons (and all other "barely EP @ 75" mobs):

The way EP range seems to have been adjusted since the patch, anything that was EP at 75 should still be EP at 80. It's possible that this trend will continue all the way up to 99, and it's possible that SE designed things this way on purpose as to not ***** with people doing trials.

I did it pretty easily on 75RDM. It will go slower on WHM but I think it should still be doable. Make sure to have Sigil on.

It's much easier to go after Yagudo SMN pets. I usually see people killing them outside Castle Oztroja [S], probably because people that are making this staff are already used to going there (for bottled pixies).

Not only are they much quicker to kill, they're also much quicker to respawn, and I believe there are two SMNs in that particular area.

Unless you are on BLM and can (possibly?) kill the pet in one shot, you'll want to pull them with Silence to help avoid linking the SMN (and possibly linking his friends). Just remember not to try this if it's a wind elemental; Silence will never work on these. Instead, wait for it to cast Blink, and then try to make your pull afterward.

I've been meaning to revisit this thread ever since I completed my Surya's a couple weeks ago. SMN pets are indeed the best target to complete the last trial, and while Meriphitaud [S] might work well, I finished in West Sarutabaruta [S].

Right at the corridor that would take you to Giddeus there are three Summoners that form a sort of scalene triangle. Admittedly I completed the trial during the period of time when Aspir was amazing, but my Scholar was able to start at the most Northern part of the triangle and work in a counter-clockwise direction through all three of the Summoners; the first Summoner would be calling its elemental right as I got back to it.

Using this method, I was able to knock out between 45 and 50 elementals each day, polishing off my last 12 elementals in sky while helping a couple Blue Mage friends learn Battery Charge.

While Meriphitaud [S] is undoubtedly an excellent spot, having access to three Summoner pets really seemed to help me a lot, I hope someone else can take advantage of this camp.

EDIT: I did just realize that I was only 76 Scholar at the time, I don't know if the elementals in West Sarutabaruta [S] will be high enough level once you hit 78+. Regardless, good luck folks.
