Depends what tp attack you mean there are tons of different ones.
Also a mandie is not a beast type. Mandie is Plantoid type.
But about Wild Oats that is physical not magic. Shell wont help for Wild Oats.

I think the OP was meaning beasts as in mobs in general, and not beasts as in beast type mobs. To answer your question though, any magical based damaging TP moves that a mob performs will be affected by Shell.

Just to expand on the above, here are some low-level examples of physical & magical enemy WS. Shell helps against all magical damage, Protect helps against all physical damage.
Crab: Big Scissors (physical)
Crab: Bubble Shower (magical)
Goblin: Goblin Rush (physical)
Goblin: Bomb Toss (magical)
Mandragora: Wild Oats (physical)
Pugil: Screwdriver (physical)
Pugil: Splash Breath (magical)
Pugil: Aqua Ball (magical)
In general magical damage will have an element associated (wind, water, fire, etc), while physical damage will have a type (blunt, slashing, piercing) associated with it. It's usually pretty easy to guess by the name of the move whether it's elemental (magical) or physical.

You can also look at the spells BLUs can learn and find out which ones are which.
In general anything that appears to be multiple hits is physical and anything with bright flashy colors that is AoE is probably magic. Doesn't really hold for everything, but a decent rule of thumb.

More importantly, if you have access to shell, you have access to protect. Just cast both.

In general, if an attack is capable of missing, it's a physical attack and not affected by Shell. (Magical attacks are subject to being resisted, not missing.)
This second one is not always true, but if Utsusemi shadows are capable of absorbing it, it's usually a physical attack. (Utsusemi will absorb some magical attacks though, generally single-target magical attacks. AoE magical attacks usually ignore or wipe Utsusemi shadows completely.)

Just to add to the Mandragora List, there is Scream and Dream Flower with are both magical while leaf Dagger and Head Butt are both Physical.
But yes, i like Fy's Description, if it can Miss, its Physical, if it can be resisted its magical.
(Does not count for Blu Spells as All Blu spells can be able to take no effect)

Yeah, but neither of them do any damage either so... Shell also won't affect these.

Sandspin (and the other BLU spells that do magical damage... Cursed Sphere, Eyes On Me, etc.) can't miss. This is actually a nice spell for gaining skill with, if you ever find it massively underleveled somehow. Get someone to tank some IT++ mob for you and just spam this spell on it.
Some physical spells/abilities have magical properties to them as well. BLU's headbutt lands via physical ACC, but the stun effect is proced by MACC so Shell would help in a matter of speaking. You're better off using bar-spells IMO though for these beast attacks if you know the right one.

It sounds like you're implying that Shell gives magic evasion, and I've never seen anything to suggest that it does. Barspells do, but since Headbutt itself doesn't have an element I'm not even positive about that (although it's at least logical that using Barthundra would increase resistance to the stun added effect).

Yeah, it doesn't. Shell is essentially the same thing as "magic damage taken -%" that you'd find on equipment (they both contribute toward a -50% cap).
