Frustration with FoV RegenFollow

It's been bothering me for a while but I think tonight it crossed a line.

When people pick Regen up from Field Manuals it prevents me from casting Regen on them. It wastes my time, my mp and more importantly it makes it harder to keep people alive.

Is this sort of nonsense common at lower levels or have I just had a string of really bad luck with people who think they're helping?

Most people just grab it out of soloist habit, plus a lot of healers they party with might not use Regen. If you're a diligent Regen user just ask them to manually remove it if they already picked it up; most people will take 5/tic rather than 1/tic.

Ive encountered this on Rdm and Sch when i was partying. Most poeple just pick it up out of habit.

Ask them not to, or to remove it, Just make sure you keep up on regen then, or they'll call you on it every time.

Also, many melee are not aware that Regen spell will not Stack with FoV Regen.
Especially since Brd songs Do stack with it.

And at low level you can do some decent soloing with FoV regen while looking for party. They probably just don't realize that it blocks magic regen.

Sounds like a chicken or the egg type of conundrum. Do Mages not use Regen because the melees all pick up FoV Regen, or do the melees pick up FoV Regen because the mages don't use Regen?

Either way I need to actually start telling people off for doing stupid stuff in parties. I've let it slide for far too long.

Picking up FoV regen isn't stupid, especially at low levels. It's a very powerful soloing aid.

It's not much different than me having to remind each of my healers not to heal me out of yellow HP when I'm BRD. A select few of them will just "know" that I'm using a Minstrel's Ring; most of them do not. It's not "stupid" of them, just one of those things you learn to expect to have to remind them of.

I dunno, Fynlar. I've made a habit of asking BLMs and BRDs if they're using rings and still occasionally **** up and throw a cure III. It's a matter of my eyes seeing yellow, my hands hitting Cure, and my brain getting very little vote in the matter. Especially when HP swap gear is used so that the HP bar suddenly flashes from full white to yellow.

OP: ask them to cancel it, especially on tanks and pullers. I'm also inclined to say if they get ornery about "wasting their tabs" (all 20 of them) then let them keep their 1/tic regen and let them rely on it for healing. It'll teach them quickly enough.

This. Many times, this. One of my fellow WHM friends has gotten a medicine ring and has to also remind us not to cure him, repeatedly, at the start of each fight.

But when you're on WHM, or any job on which you have cure III macro'd in, then the instinct when you see yellow is to make it go away. Even when I expect it, and I see someone in yellow, I have to manually override my mind and force myself to either stop, or hit a lesser cure, to ensure they don't go past that yellow/white threshold.

I've not once had any problems with even PUG healers continuing to Cure me after I've told them not to, despite the fact that I tend to have very little faith in PUGs in general. Like I said, once I've established yellow HP in an EXP party, my HP value very rarely changes after that. This not only means I'm usually not getting hit, but it also means I'm not getting healed >_> And even in the event I do need to be healed, even PUG healers are careful in not overcuring me to white HP. Maybe I've just been lucky?

To me it's one of those things that a truly qualified healer should learn to get used to after a while, especially so with BLMs (more BLMs that I encounter use their ring than ones that don't, and they should all be using it). Yellow HP numbers don't catch my eye anymore; I see latent users all over the place, and heck, I grew up on RDM and Converting all over the **** place. Non-white HP that's continuing to decrease by significant chunks? That does.

If the HP hits yellow and stays there, it's one thing. It's when the BRD/WHM is constantly flipping to -HP gear and back to yellow because Auto-Regen is messing with their percentages that I get twitchy. Mentally, it's a "why is *that* bar moving?" In meripos, Regen III gets tossed out like candy, but occasionally a timer's down and someone eats a Cure III. But yeah, for PUGs, you sound kinda lucky.

Let it also be said I don't know a lot of people who rely on Minstrel/Sorceror Ring. I've trained myself, when I see a party of BLMs, to only react to orange. Just something I'm still not overly used to with BRDs, since I almost never get a party with one. I do get to babysit DRKs on zergs a lot, so I've trained myself to react quickly to falling hp.
