Sorry. I saw a while back there was a topic about which AF piece was best to upgrade. I was going to try and find it to answer my own questions with them possibly already answered, but failed to find it.

Question: Healer's Mitts+1, or Blessed Mitts? I realize this may depend on what your gear is like. So I will share what it's like currently, and then the upgrades I plan to make gradually.

Current:
Dryad Staff, Staff Strap, Hedgehog Bomb
Selenian Cap (fast cast mnd, mnd cure pot), Ajari bead necklace, Antivemon Earring, Loq earring
Aristocrats Coat, Blessed, Tamas, Ether
Intensifying Cape, Hierarch belt, blessed, blessed

Upgraded:
Dryad Staff, Staff Strap, Hedgehog bomb
Selenian, Ajari, Roundel, Loq
Aristocrats, Healer's Mitts+1(?), Tamas, Aqua Ring,
Errant cape or Prism, Penitents, blessed, blessed

An additional -1enmity and healing skill to replace haste. I figure with right combination of MND and cure pot, adding some healing skill might help push it more?

Inb4 you're an idiot, +healing doesn't do squat.

Thanks.

AF+1 hands are a WS piece only. Smiley: grin

+15 to healing skill will do, roughly, nothing for Cure III or lower. It'll raise your Cure IV by about 1HP, and your Cure V by somewhere between 1 and 3 (if you're sitting at ~860 or higher for Cure V in your current gear) or between 4 and 7 (if you're below ~860).

Really, there's not much of a reason to bother with skill (+5 skill = +1 MND) unless you're below the upper soft cap.

That said, the Prism Cape will do more than the AF+1, though it's still roughly the same increase to your cures. Smiley: laugh (Also to look into: Communion Earring or its HQ, or Star/Celestial Earring, as a "swap in for Loquacious at mid-spell" item if you want to get more MND in your build. -1% to recasts is going to be about six "ticks" [delay ticks, that is] shaved off the recast of Cure V.)

Stick with blessed. 5% haste is invaluable, it shaves a few seconds off of all of your spell recasts. Like the above poster pointed out, if you want to push your Cure V's, stick to MND. Any minor swaps you could make would benefit you more than 15 healing skill, and you won't have to sacrifice the haste. It helps to work on a MND build for Cure V if you're serious about pushing it as far as you can. Prism cape is a good swap, as well as the earrings that have been suggested, penitent's rope or cleric's belt, ajari necklace or morgana's choker, raptor strap +1, aqua/communion/sapphire ring, etc. The potential pitfall here is that you may be swapping out some of your -enmity, but since Cure V is enmity-adjusted I personally don't worry much about it.

I use Healer's mitts +1 for my cures and such, but I macro in Blessed mitts for any spells that I want to reduce recast times (as well as stuff like goliard body, haste staff, and walmart turban).

You can stick to blessed mitts just fine though, up to you how much you think Healer's mitts +1 are worth. Although, I will say that your best off upgrading the Healer's cap before all others, you won't find a headgear with higher mind (that is if you don't have the moogle cap).

I wanna plug Mr.Furen again, since this's one of my favorite sites:

http://members.shaw.ca/pizza_steve/cure/Cure_Calculator.html

Just enter your current values, with blessed hands, and then try adding the +15skill, and see exactly what it will do. It will prolly add about:

c1: 0.1
c2: 0.2
c3: 0.3
c4: 0.8
c5: 5.0

to your pre-potency values (if my math is right; see "BC Frac" option on Furen link above) so it really depends... it's possible it could raise all your cures by a point or two, if that's what you're going for! :D

Just make sure, if you're interested in reduced cure recasts, that you add up your haste (and arts/fc) and see if it's a multiple of 20 (c1,c2); or 15 (c3); or 12 (c4); or 10 (c5).

(dunno if those are the exact amounts you'll need, but you get my meaning -- it's easy to test in town, just cast with/without the hands and see if your recast is changed 1 second)

There is also a Cure calculator out in the wild somewhere. It's very helpful. As far as hands go it's more up to your play style than anything. Blessed and AF+1 are both very good.
