I used a cooler in college. A desk that doubled as a beer break.

When I move, I'll probably have a mental breakdown from IKEA's furniture...
IKEA furniture is a pinnacle of design. Simple, good looking furniture that fits in almost all households, is cheap to make and is as small and flat to package as possible to reduce shipping costs without hurting integrity of the furniture.

The amount of thought that goes into the design of IKEA furniture is amazing.

I went to a presentation in Älmhult, Sweden (where the first IKEA opened) on IKEA and its founder. It was pretty inspiring. He used to sell matches to his neighbors from his bike when he was a kid, and now he's one of the richest people in the world.

It's funny how a lot of people look down on IKEA furniture when most of it is of really good quality and design. I've got some lamps, a bed, a sideboard, a table, and a chair from IKEA. Putting it all together takes a lot of time, sweat, and misreading of manuals, though. I'm pretty sure some of the stuff I've got has been put together wrong, because I'm avid fan of not reading manuals, but hey, it's still standing. Ooh, that reminds me...

Funnily enough, my other roommate will only drink hard cider. He refuses any other type of alcohol.

His favorite type of food is also cotton candy, so there's that.

Then you need to deal with getting a whole table inside, and finding a place to paint it, and buying paint, and doing the actual painting, and BLEGH.

I rather just have table parts strewn around a room while I cry in a corner.
Usually the legs come off a table so it's easy to move and if you cut open a garbage bag or two you have a safe area to paint and get high on paint fumes.

Also you're gay, you're supposed to care about interior design.

I'm happy with some of the stuff we got from there, other stuff scares me though. The bookcase looks like it's always about to fall over, the storage cube thingies are nice though.

Pretty exciting game today between Team Canada and Team USA.

Well, OK, so it was an NHL All Star game. But it was still pretty exciting.

Kind of surprising that Canada won, they weren't doing so well yet in the tournament and USA was on a roll. I guess it was the loser keeps Bieber that motivated them.

I saw this on the Colbert Report tonight. Damn that guy is a douche... I don't even care about sports and he kind of pissed me off.

He always acts like that, to the Dutch press as well. He loves to tell people how wrong they are but he doesn't take himself too seriously.

Also, it is retarded how they call an American competition the world series.

Edit: I can't remember if it was in that interview or somewhere else but this is a comment he made regarding the whole fast suits/Under Armor thing Americans blamed their poor performance on.

Not nearly as retarded as the "Undisputed (weightclass) Champion" for any fighting organization. I mean, if it's undisputed then what is all the fighting about?

How good are antidepressants?

Sunday before I went back on, 13 cups of coffee and couldn't keep my eyes open. Today, second day back on the pills, I haven't even touched the brown stuff yet, and I have a lot more energy.

Shouldn't have gone off then at all. Smiley: glare

Well, that's how you will know that they are no longer necessary. A year ago I forgot to take them for a couple of days and didn't notice anything, then intentionally did not take them for a couple more days to see what would happen, and then a couple weeks later threw out what I had left and haven't looked back.

But, seriously, you're too young to not be taking antidepressants. Smiley: laugh

The decline came on fairly slowly. When I first went off them some 6 months ago I was fine (after a couple of days of being tired), and was pretty good for probably 2-3 months looking back. Then it seems like I went downhill slowly over the last couple of months, getting more and more tired, and less and less useful. Finally the lightbulb went off (or is that on?). Smiley: rolleyes

How anyone gets through raising children without these things is a mystery to me.

I really really recommend Vitamin D supplements and 5-HTP for treating depression without meds. It's still technically pill popping, but it's a lot cheaper and more natural at least.

This too.

There's a cultural difference thing in there somewhere. The American "get off your @#%^ing ass and get back to work" thing, it's a competitive environment. So you pop a couple of pills and continue about your business, rather than say taking a month off to recover and saddress your problems. I bet the lack of attention the mental health field gets here too contributes. It's not like those kinds of problems are widely acknowledged and their impact really appreciated.

If it helps I'm on the lowest dose they have of the stuff, and it worked well for me in the past. Just a way to mitigate the symptoms while it's bad and hopefully work on the triggers (hello, screwed up family stuffs. Smiley: rolleyes)

So today I found out my cat had a big wound on her back, turns out she got in a fight a few days ago, got bitten and it developed into an abscess and burst today. Thankfully it only took a couple minutes (no stitching, just antibiotics and pain meds) and Pink was only pissed off, not scared which is pretty badass considering she was being stabbed in the back by needles in a strange environment.

She's all groggy on pain meds now and my wallet has a sizable new hole in it. Thankfully I got a discount for my cat's castration/sterilization that I was procrastinating on making an appointment for.
