On my drive home last night, I was thinking about how I wanted to play some Star Wars. And then I got an email with a resub offer from TOR. DAMN YOU EFFECTIVE MARKETING.

Did they wrap up all of central park? Like that German(?) guy who wrapped buildings and even an island in coloured paper or cloth.

I'm going back to that game myself soon, I just know it. Too much fun storyline content that's yet to be played. Really for all it's ups and downs it all turned out rather well it seems. It's a pity they didn't have all those wrinkles ironed out at launch.

I'll admit that the combat has never been its strong suit. And I can't comment on endgame at all. But the story content is still the best in the genre, right now.

I've thought about it too, watching my bf's brother play it. Going to have to wait until school is done though. Plus I have so many awesome games I need to finish. I restarted FF9 the other day, KH 1.5, FF13-2, Folklore, Disgaea 4, Skyrim. Plus the first four AC games. I have such terrible ADD when it comes to games. It's way worse than my normal ADD lol.

Don't get me wrong, I think Star Wars is pretty cool but I've never really felt tempted to get any of the Star Wars affiliated games and I can't say I'm interested in the universe of Star Wars.

That's probably for the best, I think I've said as much before, but Star Wars is mostly over-hyped crap, especially on the gaming end. SWTOR's combat isn't anything special, like diglett said. It's WoW-style with a lot of emphasis on the crowd control/stun/interrupt/knockback/etc (very BC-esque play style really, if you like that kind of thing). SWTOR however is the best story-telling you'll find in an MMO these days, which makes it worth a look IMO.

The KOTOR line of games (including TOR) are really solid RPGs. The Force Unleashed was decent enough fun.

A lot of the Star Wars games are crap, though.

I think it's because I'm not that big on sci-fi in general, I like some but fantasy almost aleays has my preference.

Although I make an exception for Metroid and for Jack Vance novels. The first because Metroid Prime has given me some of the greatest hours of gaming ever and the second because they're delightfully 80's sci-fi ans just simple adventure books that require no thought.

Also, the guaranteed hype over Star Wars is kind of a turn off. It's like t just has to be affiliated with Star Wars and people start jerking off over it.

I'm the same way, but I love both Star Wars and Star Trek. I'm one of those weird people who like both.

Realistically, Star Wars is a pretty solid Science Fantasy franchise. Midichlorians made it more science-fiction-esque, but it's still pretty solid fantasy, trope-wise.

I loved the storyline quests in SWTOR but after leveling 2 classes and starting on a third, I just couldn't face the grind again. Do the same 90% quests again you've already done twice to see the 10% class quests which are awesome.

I think it says something that I have leveled 17 toons in WoW to 80+ but couldn't face a 3rd toon in SWTOR. To me, the class story lines were all the game had to keep me interested and it just wasn't enough - especially considering they were only while leveling and all the good content was done as soon as you hit max level.

I like both Star Wars and Star Trek as well. Hell, most sci-fi catches my interest, but Star Wars and Star Trek is sort of what I grew up with (not that I was alive back in the 70's and early 80's).

Interestingly, I grew up watching TNG, so I prefer Picard to Kirk as the Enterprise captain. Watched some of the old episodes with Shatner, but it took hours uncurling my toes afterwards. Only thing from the old episodes I prefer is the crew (other than Kirk). Never was a fan of the TNG crew.

SWTOR was essentially KOTOR 3 with an MMO formula pulled down over its head. It's a great game the first time you level up a character, but the linearity and limited zones means you'll be doing almost everything over again if you reroll.

Digg, you can cheat the filter by using Alt + 255 on the Numpad after a smiley.

I'm not a fan of classic Kirk, but I agree the rest of the crew was great.

Though Kirk had his moments, particularly in the later movies.
