Meanwhile, I was an hour late for work today because of a broken-down truck in the worst possible spot (the road already goes from 3 to 2 lanes there, creating a bottleneck. Today it went 3 to 1).

So much wasted gas.

On that note, I really need to move. Smiley: lol I could go somewhere on the train line, so if I find a job in the city, I can commute from there. But a big part of me would rather commute until I find that job, and then move into the city. I pay so much in gas right now, that the actual increase to accommodate rent + a metro card wouldn't be too hard, even if I take a paycut. My needs are relatively small, cash-wise...

And speaking of pharmacists, thank god my doctor gave me a 3-month rebate on my antibiotic. It's $70 with insurance. Smiley: lol

Just be glad gas prices in the US are so low.

Edit: A gallon of gas here would cost you $9.16. Add some tax advantages to that and you can see why hybrids are popular here. Smiley: lol

That's true. But my daily drive is essentially like going from Amsterdam to Cologne. Smiley: lol

Oh, when I said my drive is like that, I meant distance-wise. About the same number of miles covered.

I can't judge what traffic is like on the route between them. Smiley: lol The google maps estimated time was at least 40 minutes less than my daily drive.

Exactly. People forget all the time just how big the US is.

And Digg, I didn't realize you lived that far away. I thought you just were dealing with a ******** of traffic.

Little bit from column A, little bit from B, lol. It's about 70 miles each way, so 20 less than the total from Amsterdam to Cologne.

Typically, the 10 mile stretch closest to work is going to take at least 1/3 of the entire commute. Today, it took like 2/3.

I mostly meat that as there aught to be work closer to home. There are probably people who drive 100km+ in the Netherlands to go to work, there's just not many of them and it's awfully expensive to do so.

Well, where I live, you can find industry as you go north along the shore (in increasing amounts as you get closer and closer to NYC), and some as you go south. But east is the ocean, and west is a giant forest preserve.

Really, I need to move. But I don't really want to stay in this job, so moving to be closer to it doesn't really make sense. So I need to get a new job, and then move closer to that one. Smiley: lol

It's only a matter of time before you'll be able to go east for work on a floating city of sorts.

Does this mean we'll all finally have a reason to visit Nunavut?

Because that could be cool.

70 miles to work? That's from one side of the island to the other here.

Then we can get rid of war by having each nation register and enter a giant mecha and they can fight it out tournament style until one is left.

Rock On

So funny and so true.

100 miles is way more far than 100 years is long time

I'm 100% on board with this.

Also, the Pacific Rim soundtrack is amazing.

Also, this concept instantly made me imagine each city having mech technologies based off of different anime varieties, like Gundams vs. Jaegers, and it was awesome.
