If only people came with ideas, you can work with that. It's the vague terms with no explanation that I have trouble dealing with.

"I want it to be more fun", "It's just not quite right yet", "I want it to pop more", "It's not grabbing me yet" etc. etc.
And when you try to get more clarification you get blank stares.

Imagine if someone came to you asking you to analyze some proteins but when you ask what sort/which ones they just shrug and say something along the lines of "I dunno, the right ones".

I've avoided biochem for all of my degree, I choose a quantum project and then they fling biochem at me.

Actually, the protein applications stuff is still better than figuring out how this is supposed to apply to other categories, like "nanotech"... Smiley: lol

Man, if funding bodies just gave us money to do "whatever" science would be so much nicer.

There'd be monsters and doomsday machines everywhere.

And much less "try to throw in something about cancer in the application, it makes it much more likely to be accepted." Smiley: lol

I don't care about making stuff for people, I just want to do maths and get paid for it.

19th century science culture was so cool in that way. It was also barred to poor people, though, I guess.

So today I learned that mouse blood is rather sticky and hard to get out of fur.

Quite the contrary, a mouse had gotten into my house and the cat caught it and took it outside. It kept him entertained for a good hour but then he came back inside with blood all over his chest and paws wanting to cuddle.

Well on the bright side, at least it took it outside. I can't imagine blood comes out of carpet very well. At least if main stream cinema is to be believed.

That's why they often move to sleeping on top of some cabinets. Still the closest thing I have to a carpet. Smiley: lol

So I got three emails from the Cavendish today. I think I might have found a PhD supervisor by accident. Smiley: lol

Sometimes I just stop and remember that there's a soldier who has a dog named Kitty, and it makes me feel better about the world. Smiley: lol

The fact that it's (growing into) a very large dog is even better.

I just have this mental image of Lolgaxe yelling "Kitty, no" as it jumps up onto some stranger. It's wonderful.
