Fractals, which are dungeons you can repeat again and again, with them getting harder each time in exchange for more frequent/better loot. Then there's legendaries, and WvWvW. other than that, there's not that much. I fully expect to get bored sooner or later, just hasn't happened yet.

I wonder if part of my DPS issue is my laptop. I wouldn't doubt it lol. I get pretty frequent lag. I really need to get a replacement cord for my 19 in TV so I can use my desktop again without being bothered by folks wanting to use the 46 in TV.

But yeah, I'm ilvl 497 now and I can only pull about 50k.

That sounds dreadful.

Well, entertaining as long as it's a challenge but not too difficult, incredibly annoying when you get to the point where you wipe a lot.

The real point of GW2 seems to be the WvWvW stuff.

I enjoyed the game. And the fact that it's F2P definitely helps, because you can always come back without too much investment.

I thought everyone was aware by now that mass PvP is always retarded because there's too many people to properly organize and so many people that you can't affect the battle much no matter how good you are.

It's not like in Wintergrasp, where you're all attacking one fortress. The nodes are all over the map, so there's plenty of tactical advantage for small groups to be heading out. There are bigger bases for bigger teams, of course, and those matter, but having all the big bases and none of the small nodes, because everyone is assaulting the forts, isn't really what you want.

Having one fort and a lot of the lesser nodes (of various tiers) is going to be much better on your overall reward.

And that's lovely but you still aren't going to have a significant impact on the whole thing and when you get a lot of people together without a clear hierarchy there aren't going to be any real tactics to speak of either, it's just zerg zerg zerg and pray for the best.

The fact that it's 3 teams helps, though. Because battling on two fronts as opposed to the typical zerg actually does impose a certain amount of organic order.

WvWvW is a lot less about timed interrupts and such. For that, there's team vs. team content. WvWvW is about the map - more like being a player in a game of Risk. It's less zergy than anything I've experienced in WoW, for the most part.

Everyone is still going to be using the same tactic every time though, there's no outsmarting your enemy or anything like that. ****, even smaller battlegrounds like Arathi Basin and the space age version of that (whatever it was called with the flag and 4 towers) were impossible to coordinate or have some sort of tactic but at least if you're good you can alter the battlefield significantly by fighting in every other battle, if it's 200 vs 200 vs 200 a single person isn't going to have any sort of measurable effect.

Does that matter?

If everyone's enjoying the time spent, it's good. And you do end up with a handful of proactive players calling the shots. Usually because no one else wants to. So the army does often move according to plans, along with some other renegade groups going for some smaller nodes.

Yeah, but WvWvW is the casual PVP content. There's still the more hardcore stuff.

It's pretty much the open world part of endgame PVE content, where you're out farming mats and doing dailies and such. Except undeniably more fun.

Not necessarily true, especially since the introduction of Commanders, players with a special flag over their head who often lead in WvW. I've been in large zergs that were taken by surprise and wiped by a smaller zerg, I've been in the other end of the same situation. I've been in a zerg running around sneaking captures of nodes, I've been in small groups quietly stealing back stuff. And I've also been in the big megazerg assaulting the castle at the center of the map, which is a ton of fun in and of itself.

Not necessarily. Especially with the field system and things like reflect walls and buff spam and share builds, zerg support can have a serious impact on a zerg's success. It's obviously less true as size increases and coordination decreases, but a single person can very much make or break a zerg.

Not really, Germany is far stronger and Portugal is the clear second in that group. Most likely you'll get to fight over place 3 with Ghana. Assuming Ronaldo plays well he has the individual quality to make the difference against USA and Ghana even if the rest of Portugal is off their game. Still, the USA could have traded places with Australia and they'd be worse off for it and it's not like there are many groups where they would have a solid chance of moving on to the second round.

someproteinguy wrote:

Spain is definitely the strongest team, the Dutch have to do well vs Chile and not fail miserably against Australia but Spain, Chile and the Netherlands all like to play the same type of football which the Netherlands like playing against a lot more than the super defensive Australia (who are pretty much doomed to end up last).

We should be able to make a game of it with Portugal, they're good but they're not in the top tier of teams. Really we're not going anywhere in the tournament if we can't at least force a tie with a team like that. Then again, I'm being optimistic I suppose. We can't all be Argentina, or Brazil, they look like they'll have a nice time advancing at home.

I'll still take our group over yours. Smiley: wink

The problem for the USA vs Portugal is really just Ronaldo, If there wasn't Ronaldo I'd say you were right but he just has so much individual qualities that he'll score once or twice if it's needed and that will make the difference in that matchup, I think the Portuguese also have vastly more experience with the tension coming from these big matches as a good deal of them play with and against the best players in the world every year in the Champions league.

Vidal can do the same for Chile, Messi for Argentine, Robben and Van Persie for the Netherlands and Germany and Spain have so many great players they're the favourites for the finals.

Grindr? lol! I have never seen the appeal of hooking up in a bathroom, that's gross. Then again, I've never randomly met someone and decided I wanted to ***** them right there, right now either. I have to develop an emotional connection of some sort before I get sexually attracted to people.

For me, emotion and *** are quite separate. I mean, I enjoy it more when there's an emotional attachment (because, obviously, I get sexual and emotional pleasure out of it). But *** for the purely hedonistic pleasure works for me.

I am a monogamous person, though. If I'm with someone, I don't want an open relationship or multiple partners.

And the bathroom isn't exactly my preferred location. Smiley: lol
