You can hardly call it a series with 3 episodes per season.

British TV is weird.

Still not as weird as the fans on Tumblr, though.

They're an hour and a half each. By American standards, they'd qualify as feature-length films.

Tumblr fandoms are... interesting. Find the fans with pretty art and acceptable personalities and avoid the rest like the plague.

I wonder why they didn't make 6 45 min episodes then, 90 minute episodes seem a bit over the top to me.

My understanding is that this is actually relatively common in British Television.

And that said, I can see why they clearly wouldn't in this instance. Each episode is essentially it's own film at this point. So it's like asking why <insert 85-minute film> wasn't cut into two parts when some network showed it. It just wouldn't work well. The writing format for pacing/climax, etc. is much different for a medium where they're independent parts.

Here, you get the cases start-to-finish and it's awesome and you should watch it. And not just because Wartson and Sherlock are clearly in an asexual homoromantic relationship.

I might check it out. I've got the Sherlock Holmes films fresh in my memory though, not sure if I want to see more Sherlock.

Also, this beer is ******* amazing.

It's modern day Sherlock with text messages and stuff.

And it is so, so amazing.

And Benedict Cumberbatch.

Modern day Sherlock? Don't tell me it's like that Merlin thing, where all the actors are 30-year-olds portraying teenagers...

Not sure my brain could handle that much ngh.

Having looked it up now, I see that it is not a bunch of old dudes playing teenagers. Also, the behind the scenes thing on YouTube looked intriguing, so I might give it a look.

No, you really want to give it a chance.

It's not like a crappy CSI-like show. It's still Sherlock and Watson, and the cases are based on the original books (and the translation to the modern day is really quite nice).

They're really well-written. And so much of the original content doesn't even change all that much. They might text each other, but the texts become part of the game, part of the plot, part of the case. They're the new way someone can whisper in your ear, or create instant suspense in a moment, or offer comedic relief.

I can't really explain it. Just... you REALLY want to watch at least episode 1 and judge from that. If you're not liking it, you can always turn it off.

They are adorable and usually this close although it still baffles me that they want to sleep in that exact spot, the least comfortable one in my house.

Also, feel free to make dirty jokes Horse, the cats can't read anyway.

Best place to rest? On a power strip!

Not only do you risk sudden electrocution, you also get to bend your spine in what can only be an uncomfortable way.

Except that they're not plugged in so no electrocution, just spine breaking comfort.
