Oh yeah, there's pleanty of theorizing going on. The big variable in Texas is the Latino vote. Unlike a lot of other groups, Latinos don't have a side they always vote for every time. They elected and re-elected Bush, but did the same for Obama. If things go the same in '16, then they'll vote blue, but who knows.
And Latinos are a very large part of the Texas population.
