Fury warrior macros- will these workFollow

#1 May 07 2012 at 2:01 AM Rating: Decent
Looking to make a macro, and wondering if these will work... I cant get on to test them atm

Meant to cast each attack in that order, but im not sure if the global cooldowns will interfere:

/cast Colossus Smash
/cast Raging Blow
/cast Bloodthirst
#showtooltip
/stopcasting
/cast Slam
/stopcasting
/startattack
/cast Execute

Meant to cast all my dps cooldowns and activate my trinket, and cast colossus smash:

/cast Battle Shout
/cast Berserker Rage
/cast Inner Rage
/cast Recklessness
/cast Death Wish
/cast Colossus Smash
/use 13

My question is, will these do what theyre meant to do? Or just cast the first one on the list...

If these dont work I wouldy appreciate a working version a ton :D

The second one is workable, if wonky, assuming none of those before Colossus Smash activate the GCD nor have mutually exclusive cooldown properties. You'll want to move the "/use 13" to before the colossus smash if you want it to apply to that ability. Edit: If one of those buffs sets off the GCD, I'd highly recommend removing colossus smash from the macro and just use it as your next ability after using the macro.

The first one will not work in any feasible way, though I'm unclear on what exactly you want it to do. If you're looking to hit it a single time and have it do it all, then that's not gonna happen. However, if you want to have it do the next thing on the list each time you hit the key(after the GCD), then you're looking for a different format of macro. Look up /castsequence macros. They'll more or less do what you're looking for if the second conjecture is true. Though perhaps not quite everything you want in that particular macro.

Found out about cast sequence macros a little bit ago, and i had one more question.. Put together this macro for the CD's-
/castsequence Battle Shout, Berserker Rage, Inner Rage, Recklessness, Death Wish, Colossus Smash
/use 13

Is there any way to make it more advanced so it can continue on even if a cooldown isnt up yet? For example: If I want the sequence in this macro:
"/castsequence Colossus Smash, Raging Blow, Bloodthirst
#showtooltip
/stopcasting
/cast Slam
/stopcasting
/startattack
/cast Execute"

Is there a way to make that macro pretty much spammable to keep the dps up? Colossus smash has a 20 second cooldown, so I couldnt use it more than every 20 seconds, and the smash macro would interrupt the cast sequence

With a cooldown like that, I personally wouldn't put it into a macro like that. Also, /castsequence is unnecessary for the cooldowns macro assuming no GCDs. It was fine as it was, more or less.

One thing to note. I can't really comment on the whether making any of these macros is a good idea, since my warrior is purely tanking(also, I haven't played him in months). Also means I'm not sure if there's a better way to do what you're wanting to do beyond my own basic macro knowledge. So hopefully someone else with a bit more knowledge will pop on by. If not, you might consider asking on the Oboards. Or possibly the Wowhead forums. Both are more likely to have a broader warrior population than here.

How does your macro work when you get a Bloodthirst Slam proc?

What does it do if you are for some reason not enraged?

Macros are great for startattack, buffs, targeting, conditionals and using random mounts. Using a macro to do your thinking is never a good idea.

/startattack
/cast ABILITY

Is a good macro.

/cast [modifier:shift] CD X; [nomodifier] CD Y

Is a good macro.

Using one to dictate your rotation is not.

What Horse said.

Macros are good at automating menial tasks, such as popping trinkets along with a cooldown...

#showtooltip
/cast Shield Block
/cast Shield Bash
/use 13
/use 14

...and for saving action bar space for some of those abilities where you want to use a second ability while the first is on cooldown...

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=100 Last Stand, Enraged Regeneration

...but they shouldn't be used to automate your playing.

Note: Above macros may no longer apply. It's been a couple of months since I played.
