Well, the purpose and goal of any business is almost always to make money, so I don't fault them for that. The problem is they just have no idea how to do it effectively. Like my examples, they don't seem to know what shows will make them good money if they continue for more than two seasons, and they don't seem to understand that running a show into the ground will lose them money when it starts to hemorrhage viewers.
A good business model would be to cultivate good shows, but end them at about five or six seasons. With, you know. Actual endings.
