If you prefer to put debuffs on everyone and run around /clucking until you win, Affliction is definitely the talent specialization for you. You get more and stronger DoT spells and they'll even heal you. With the right talents and glyphs, you'll also be able to throw instant Shadowbolts around like there's no tomorrow.

Demonology is for those who prefer their demon doing the hard work.

Destruction is for those who want to be a Fire Mage with a pet.

I can't say how well it works nowadays, but when I was leveling my lock, I never had much luck playing as Destro for leveling. This is coming from someone whose main actually is a fire mage. Demo and Afflic worked rather well for me, however.

Playing Destruction while leveling is similar to playing a Mage before Mages received the mana efficiency they have now.

Bring lots of water food.

You get Soul Harvest at level 12, it shouldn't be that bad even without heirlooms. What I didn't like about leveling my warlock as Destruction is that you don't get Incinerate until level 64. Soul Fire is much better than Shadow Bolt, but it's SO SLOW.

My first Warlock I leveled in BC just so my guild could get past Mag. Well, that, and BC heroics required a lot of CC, and Warlocks had 3 viable CCs most of the time (Banish, Succubus Seduce, and Fear kite with Curse of Recklessness).

Yeah Destruction didn't really have mana problems once 4.0 hit. Soul Harvest + Replenishment pretty much takes care of that.

Take the PvP abilities if you go that route though. Aftermath will keep damage on you down to a minimum (your health replenishment will suck) and Shadowfury is all kinds of awesomeness for escaping a tight spot. Nether Ward and Backlash are also useful; a lot of times you'll just burn things down before they get to you.
