From the ElitistJerks.com Cat guide:

Quote:
This latest patch has brought all of the secondary stats quite close to each other. To my knowledge gearing setups that focus on haste, mastery, hit/exp cap, and balanced distributions all appear in simulations to be very similar in overall dps. So until further investigations find a more meaningful hierarchy of secondary stats feel free to set these up however you like. Do note that hit and expertise are clear favorites in AoE situations now that Swipe is worth using again. Also be aware that set bonuses will have a noticeable effect - losing 2T11 will reduce the value of mastery and the T12 bonuses will increase the value of non-mastery stats.

I've always been a fan of capping hit and expertise, especially for 5-mans.

What's your flavor?

Yeah, capping both of those is always a favorite of mine. Love means never having to waste a GCD. Smiley: lol

Since my first upgrades will likely be bearcat upgrades I'll look at mastery/crit/hit/exp stuff (when I get a choice) and then shift the cat to haste when I get duplicates. Having bear gear reforge to dodge and kitty to haste helps me tell at a glance which set it belongs to should I accidentally delete one.

Of course since the stats are close enough, there's no reforge priority that won't make other people think you're an idiot. I've already seen this on the o-boards where what used to be a reasonable discussion has devolved into everyone having their preference and arguing its superiority over a matter of *maybe* 300 dps max.

The more balanced spec is, ironicaly enough, feral druids.
Wish I had never changed from feral druids when WotLK came. Meh.

OMG 300 DPS IS SRS BUSINESS!!1one

Sounds like the O-boards.

I decided to cap out hit and expertise for two reasons:

For one, it's always been one of those things I hated about the old mastery > all priority. Sure, your DPS was awesome, but in 5-mans it all came down to luck. If I missed a lot, I could fall below 12k DPS. If I hit a lot, I could go above 18k DPS. Missing four Shreds in a row was not uncommon and it severely messed up my rotation, because Rip would fall off and I wouldn't have the combo points to refresh it.

Also, mastery doesn't affect Swipe and Swipe is luls in 5-mans. I thought they nerfed it to the ground, but I pulled aggro on every single trash pull in Zul'Aman, against an epic'd out tank.

Basically, I'm enjoying what they've done. You get to pick and choose and people like me who have fallen out of the RNG goddess' good grace can cap hit and expertise and avoid high blood pressure.

One thing I can't wrap my head around, though, is Tiger's Fury and Rip. I could have sworn the cooldown on Tiger's Fury was shorter, or the duration of Rip was longer, before 4.2. I seem to remember having a rotation that involved Tiger's Fury coming off cooldown the moment Rip fell off, assuming I got in the full effect of Glyph of Shred. Rip lasts 22 seconds and Tiger's Fury has a 27-second cooldown when glyphed, leaving five seconds where I don't know if I should refresh Rip or wait.

*shrug* The wise men say that Tiger's Fury should be used as soon as +60 energy isn't a waste. I guess it's not an essential part of the whole bleed stacking thing anymore.

If I remember with heroic T12 haste starts to pull ahead but for all intents and purposes it doesn't matter as Agility is just that much better and all the secondary stats are so close in rating. So I'd bet most are going hit/exp as most encounters have some AoE portion of the fight.

Except haste is always bad for enhancement shammies now and crit isn't much better. So they get hit/exp capped then push mastery.

I see. All I actually remembered about their gearing was the push for hit and exp.

Missing a white hit means missing a potential Maelstrom/WF/FT proc, plus they benefit from the spell hit portion of hit rating all the way to 23% (6% from Dual Wield passive doesn't help with spells). I think hit past the spell-hit cap is lower than haste, but I might be wrong. My shammy is main-spec Resto.

Enhance is CD locked so haste doesn't help generate more resources and too much damage is spell based so it is at 150% instead of 200% crit so crit is devalued just not as much as haste.

If I remember right, it has something to do with one of the bonus that old tier gave. I might be mistaken, but I remember back in wotlk some dicussions about timing with Rip and TF being different with or without the Tier or something. Might be that, Mazra.

Way back in tier 7 the 2-piece was an extra 4 seconds on Rip. You might be thinking of Rake, where every other Rake should benefit from TF.

I might be mixing up memories, but I thought I was able to use Tiger's Fury every Rip in Cataclysm.

Maybe I was just drunk.
