Looking for some help on macro creation to free up button space.

/cast Heroic Throw
/stop casting
/cast Charge

Was hoping for a version of this that if targeting a enemy it would proceed as normal but if targeting a ally it will use intervene.

Secondly i wanted to bind Shield block with Shield slam in such a way it would use shield block first if off cd followed by shield slam, and just shield slam if shield block is on cd.

Are these possible? and what other macros should i consider, i use the basic wow interface so button space is a general issue. What i am attempting to do is keep most of my skills as numbers 1-6.

Ctrl and Alt modifiers are your friend, if you're literally just using the stock UI and buttons 1-6.

Here's one.

/cast [help] Intervene
/cast [modifier:alt] Charge
/castsequence [reset=10/combat/alt] Heroic Throw, Charge, Charge

Intervene if targeting a friendly target. Else, use Heroic Throw, then Charge. Press Alt+key to skip Heroic Throw (If it's on CD, for example.

/cast Shield Block
/cast Shield Slam

Shield Block is off the GCD, so you can macro it with anything and it will work.

/cast [nomodifier] Heroic Strike
/cast [modifier:alt] Cleave
/cast [modifier:ctrl] Inner Rage

Heroic Strike, Cleave is you hold Alt, pop Inner Rage with Ctrl if you're rage-capped.

You can combine a lot of other abilities the same way. If you use the [?] macro icon, it will show whatever skill is up with your castsequence / modifier keys / etc. You could combine Heroic Strike with Pummel and Disarm, put Shield Wall with Last Stand and Enraged Regen. One ability will trigger off no modifier, one off Alt, one with Shift, and a 4th with Ctrl.

Thanks for the help however need a tad more. I used this macro recommended by a tanking blog and altered it slightly.

#showtooltip Rend
/cast Rend
/stop casting
/cast Heroic Strike

I changed it to work for Devastate, Revenge and Shield slam and it works great, however when i attempted to replace Heroic strike with Cleave so i could use it in conjunction with Thunderclap and Shockwave it requires multiple button pushes where as heroic strike didn't any idea why?

Not a huge deal but it would be nice to fix it. Taking a break at the moment but will be back on within the hour to test them out and see what else i can do.

Generally what my opener should look like is the charge macro, and while i am re-positioning the mobs i will use rend followed by thunderclap and shockwave. My worry with this opening is healer agro and over eager dps in the time frame after charge but before thunderclap.

Should i open with thunderclap instead of rend for the initial agro or stick with this?
