In need of Help for healing in HeroicsFollow

I took a month break from WoW as I was too tired to play. After the break when I got back and tried to heal on some of the instances I couldn't heal. I don't know what went wrong but the 2 instances I am having trouble is in Stonecore and Vortex Pinnacle.

I have completed all of the heroics in Cata content but now I am having difficulty in healing especially these 2 instances.

I don't know what is wrong here. I am not doing smite heals but just pure discpline healing. Maybe it could be the way my gears are and also the enchantments or gemming.

I would be much obliged if you could kindly assist me in what I could have gone wrong. My playing style is the same and never changed. Just using heal, greater, penance, shield on tanks, mending and prayer of healing if group is getting AOE damage.

I have linked my armory and hope you can let me know what is wrong. I may be out of touch from the healing world since I took a month break from playing.

Thank you very much for your kind assistance

Well it would help if you could describe what problems you are having. Are your heals not powerful enough? Running out of mana? Just not getting the heals off fast enough?

Right off hand there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with your gear or enchants. With gemming though, generally you want to keep to gems that give you as much Intellect as possible. You don't have to put gems in sockets that match, and unless the socket bonus is +20 Int or higher, you can ignore the sockets.

However, I'm not all that versed in healing with my priest, so I'll restrict my advice giving to that.

I'm Holy Priest and don't do Disipline, but if you have done all the other heroics and these two are your problem ones, more likely, it's the groups your playing with on a couple key parts.

Stonecore: The hardest boss to heal is the stone giant; and done right with DoTs and a smart tank, it's pretty easy. Make sure you put both your DoTs on him after he casts the um, one thing. Gosh can't remember the name for the life of me. Like wall thing or something. Your DoTs will tick on you doin gminor damage and will break his stun. Do not dispel the disease and magic off yourself, that's your DoTs doing what they are supposed to do. Other than that, the other bosses are pretty cake. Move from stuff on ground, etc., etc. Also, after first worm boss, levitate all the members except the tank. The stone dudes in the tunnels do a ground AOE that wont hurt ya levitated and will reduce your healing strain.

VP: The hardest part of this run is the trash on the third pinnicle. If your group is not CC'ing or handling them correctly, you'll be OOM or dead in no time. This is not your fault, it's your tanks, lack of CC'ing and DPS's problem. The last boss, try to jump on static cling, but if you get stuck, dispel magic and all is golden. You'll want to dispel it off the other party members that get stuck as well or they are dead; assuming they can't remove it themselves or are too dumb to dispel or break it themselves. The other bosses are cake there and trash. First boss with tornados, prayer of healing will be key with prayer of mending for the lightning bolt aoe. I'm assuming your giant sheild would be good as well once the tornados spread in and you move out.

Without more information, hope this helps.

I have no problems with dealing trash but on the boss. At stonecore is the tall rock boss. Mmmm i might have forgotten the dot the boss with pain and plague. Thanks alot for reminding me on this.

On the other instance is the 1st boss. I did shield the whole group when we ran in and when the cyclone thingy came they seem to be out of range for my heals. I did use PoH and PoM and shield the tanks and sometime melee.
For this boss fight I tend to ran out of mana.

I do have mana issues but I can drink up inbetween fights. But I am pretty sure that I was able to heal all of these instances well before I took a break from WoW.

I am still in the process of gearing my priest but hell to get VPs is like a pain. :(. Need to slog this out. Also I notice that now even casters are getting hit badly at times.

The last boss of Vortex is the same. I jump alot and also dispel the statics. This was a piece of cake for me last time. Wonder why.

So gear, gemming and enchanting wise no issues?

Thank you so much

There's grey triangluar spots on the cyclone boss in VP that you and all ranged can stand on without ever having to move. It's inside the cyclones when they are out, and outside of them when they are in. There's four total and the clones never hit those spots when they move in and out. Find it and tell ranged to stand on you. They are slightly different colored and a hexagon/triangle shape. Melee should run out toward you for range purposes, if they run to the far back side, not much ya can do cept shield as they run and hope for best. As holy, I drop a lightwell on the boss, so when the melee run out the other side of me, and out of range, they have to heal themselves. LOL

Oh and Bulwark is when you want to hit the stone giant with DoTs in Stonecore. Soon as it says it's cast, hit him with plague and pain.

Good Morning and thank you very much for your kind assistance. Atleast, I understand nothing is wrong in my gears. I will keep running those 2 instances till I get the feel of healing well in this.

Thank you so much

Cheers

Be aware that the entire group has a lot to do with your success. If they don't cc, or don't move out of stuff, there may be little you can do. Try to mitigate some damage on initial pulls by perhaps using PW:Barrier or Pain Suppression on the tank.

The group needs to have a kill order, not simply spam aoe.

When things are under control, try to work in some Holy Fire, smite heal till 5 stacks of Evangelism, and pop ArchAngel. It will extend your mana.

Good Luck

Good evening all, 1st and foremost i would like to thank everyone of you who responded to my thread. I decided to respec to smite healing to test how well it works since i was alittle skeptical about this. I am amazed that I was able to heal much much better then normal discpline spec. I drink less in fights as compared to before. I started smite healing in normal instances at 1st to get the feel of smite healing.

Today I did 4 heroics including stonecore( my biggest nightmare instance) without any issue. Simply amazing. Able to have much better control of AOE damage unless the group is bad then is more effort is needed . For trash I normally hit POH to get the DA and the POM for each rush. Then smite to control damage healing. Its simply amazing.

I was very worried about smite healing due to loads of AOE damage but I must admit I am wrong. Its much much better then the normal discpline healing.

I have tried VP instance yet but I intend to do it. The dots on the stone gaint boss worked well for me.

Would like to express my sincere gratitude for helping me to get back on track.

Cheers all :)

Thinking of switching to the horde :). Troll priest ok?

Have a wonderful weekend
