Ever since I read about the changes to tanking coming in cata, I've been excited. Until they actually hit. I feel like I'm putting out less threat than a wet paper bag, and dps can peel mobs off me in seconds. My opening rotation goes Charge>Rend>Thunderclap>Shockwave>Cleave, then using all TC, Shockwave, and cleave on cooldown. This, as far as I can tell from the tankspot threads, is what I'm supposed to be doing, so the only thing I can think of is my gear. Any help is appreciated.

It's Definitely harder to get a decent threat lead in Cata,
especially if the DPS doesn't look at, or cares about, aggro/threat.

your rotation sounds fine for AoE groups, but most mobs in dungeons aren't meant to be AoE'd down anymore,
I would try to at least mark a skull, and use some devastates, shield slams on it, to make sure it sticks to you, the rend/TC/SW should take care of any healing aggro & splash/aoe aggro.

gear would definitely make a difference though, you still have lots of level 80 gear on you, replacing this with questing greens/blues should make tanking a bit easier. (more stamina, mastery, avoidance, strength...)

also, if rage isn't an issue for you, you could take the points out of 'battle trance' and spend them elsewhere, ('war academy' or 'blitz' come to mind)

Yes, you definitely want to include Shield Slam in your rotation seeing as it's your best single target threat ability.

You should also use Devastate as your "GCD dump" as it causes decent threat and the sunder debuff is always nice to have.

If you find that just Rend > TC (Blood and Thunder specced of course) and then TC on cooldown isn't enough to hold AOE threat you can always tab target and throw out a Devastate or two on each mob. Although, to be honest, if you mark targets, the DPS follows kill order, and you remember to switch to the next mob at about 25%, you should have no threat issues.
