So, I was tired of feral and respecced boomkin to take advantage of the fact that my resto set is way better then my feral set. Well, today I finally found a healer to queue with so instead of healing I was dpsing and it was a blast. I was pleasantly surprised with both my aoe damage on multiple targets(~20K ish on 5) and my single target damage (~14K I think). I have to say, making the resto set work almost seamlessly with boomkin spec was a fantastic fantastic change.

It took a bit to feel comfortable dpsing again, but it was a pretty easy learning curve, as opposed to kitty dps.

I was just wondering how well the gear overlapped these days; so tempting...

If I didn't have a high level warlock that probably would have been enough to get me to switch to a boomkin offspec. But that'd be too many casters, not enough animals on face.

It's close to perfect. The only problems are with too much hit from spirit, which is fairly easy to fix with a trinket or two for your dps set and the fact that on balance you gear for haste over mastery, where in resto you spec haste to a break point and then spec mastery. That's a minor point though, because mastery is still good. I'm currently getting my haste to 920 and then putting everything into mastery, and I've been happy with my results on both sides. Tank healing and throwing out WG is pretty awesome at the moment.

Can't figure out if I want to go 920 haste or 2k for the WG tick.

2k is a lot, though.

Edit: Think I'll settle for 1221 for the extra LB tick.

And sorry for the temporary derail. I played around with Boomkin in my Resto gear and pulled decent DPS as well. Unfortunately I can't figure out caster DPS, so I switched back to Resto.

Can you get to 2K? I currently can't without gemming for it. I also tend to be tank healing a fair amount, so the mastery loss to get there would really hurt.

I'm always surprised at the amount of haste I have; probably still getting used to stat inflation in a new expansion. 432 reforged away, and I still have 1011; with an average ilvl of 332 on the armory thingy.

Oh right; lazers, moar lazers.

I'll be some 200 haste rating short right now.

What's odd is that, at 1245 haste rating and a Shadow Priest providing the 5% haste, my DrDamage addon still only shows Lifebloom doing 11 ticks. What buff am I missing?

Does that include the bloom? Since you'd be getting 11 ticks and a bloom with a 12sec duration.

Did you press Num Lock? Smiley: tongue

I'm just grabbing whatever enchants are cheap for stuff at the moment. There were a couple up for like 200g on the AH, which is all of 5-10 minutes of herbing, so I figured why not. Smiley: smile

Also I hate how that proc looks. Makes me want to dash away somewhere Smiley: rolleyes

Not really sure. I was following this chart from MMO-Champs.

Says Lifebloom gains a 12th tick at 15% haste, but mentions that pre-buff haste levels should be 1221 rating or 9.53%. I'm not a wizard at math, but wouldn't 9.53% plus 5% equal 14.53% and not 15%?

Might explain why.

I'm pretty much always getting DI these days, which gives me an extra 3% haste, making the WG breakpoint 1616, so I'm planning on going for that breakpoint. The rejuv breakpoint is a laughable 532 haste with DI.

Xsaurus, you make me feel like a fail boomkin. I haven't managed to pull that kind of dps yet on anything but gimmick fights. And my haste sucks balls right now. It's at 1243, which is still about 200 less than I need for an extra tick with my DoTs. It could be worse though I guess... Sad thing is that if I hadn't had to reforge all my gear for hit/spirit to get hit capped, I'd have just enough haste to get that extra tick.

With your current gear (looked your armory) you should be perfectly able to do that.
You have almost the same gear a I do and I`m pulling 14k dps self buffed without food/flasks while I`m testing rotation in the dummy.

I know how you feel. My DpS DK by the time I disabled my account near the end of Wrath had purples in every slot but trinkets, which were green. I just never got any good drops, and the emblem ones weren't as good as other upgrades I could get.

Really brought my ilvl down. :( To be fair (in a very, very loose sense of the word), I did HAVE purple trinkets that just happened to be worse than my green ones. So I could have inflated my gear score by lowering my dps, but I resisted the temptation.

I know--they're never exciting. DpS get interesting things like transformations w/ buffs or building charges that explode when they hit 20.

To be fair, there's something to be said with being passively reliable. But it would be fun to have something that built a charge with each Dodge and, at 5, gave a small damage shield or <insert mitigation, avoidance or health buff>.

At least make the purely defensive effects somewhat interesting (even though all they are doing is reducing incoming damage by 10% or something). Like let me place a totem that will absorb a fraction of the damage taken for x seconds and then explodes, dealing minor damage in a small range (that includes a higher threat modifier).

[EDIT]

I guess my main issues is that they always say they want trinkets to be flavorful pieces of gear, rather than just something you take for passive stats, but all tanking trinkets are relatively boring--at best adding a CD that's inferior to all the rest of them.

I only use two stam cause one is the JC with a dodge clicky, otherwise I would of farmed Tia's. Even normal Tia's would be better than the green stam one.

Armor is still awesome. Armor is still sexier than Mastery. Armor always works, it is beautiful.

The thing I don't get is why they didn't just let you use balance spells in tree form. I mean, the main reasoning was that Druids in ToL form were too restricted from the rest of their spells, right? Combined with the fact that you had to be in ToL to heal as effectively as other healers?

Would it really have been OP to just remove the spell restrictions? ****, they could have said something like "Balance spells will suffer from 15% reduced damage." Adjust armor accordingly.

Though I suppose a good part of this was probably the fact that the devs were tired of designing unique sets of gear that no one ever saw if they could avoid it...

All the more reason to show the gear on forms! :D

Alchemy one gives me 440 stamina. That alone is enough for me to not give it up. I don't care what agility gives me in terms of dodge, RNG and I have unfinished business, and baby, I ain't kidding (bonus points for reference).

The mystery trinket I was talking about, but not linking, is Za'brox's Lucky Tooth. I know Mastery isn't all that hot for Druids compared to dodge and stuff (which is why I reforged the mastery on my alchemy trinket to dodge), but it's better than 3k armor just before dying. Macroing the tooth into my Barkskin, I can toss in some extra mitigation every other pull.

Yes, avoidance > health in raids once you have enough health to not die in the time it takes for a healer to cast a heal, but in heroics and such, health is king. Increased Vengeance cap (and thus size of SD procs) and a bigger buffer for when the healer has an aneurysm.

Armor, in my opinion, comes after health in sexiness. Again, this is partly due to RNG hating me. Armor provides constant mitigation whereas dodge is hit or miss. Armor, however, doesn't mitigate magical damage. Neither does health, of course, but it gives the healer more wiggling room to hit panic buttons and such.

Boomkin should be the first priority. But I'd very much like updated travel/aquatic forms, too.

Even if they keep the cheetah, I'd like one that's more in keeping with current graphics. I would very much like for the sea lion to disappear and never come back. Give me a dolphin or something. Anything less stupid.

Of course, before they address Druid forms, I would really, really like them to update the old race models. Compare Goblins and Humans. The latter looks TERRIBLE next to them. They can keep the same hair styles and such, if they want, but at least do to the old races what they did to Jaina.

Yeah a dolphin would be pretty awesome. I also definitely agree with updating the older races. And I for one would like more hair style options for the Tauren. It really irks me that there's only 4 or 5 hair styles to choose from, and they only added 1 or 2 that you can get from the barber shop.

The lack of Worgen male options really surprised me. Females have a TON of options.

I think my issue is three-part:

1. We can't choose hair color. I get why--it's the same reason Tauren can't. But there are only 4 color options, and the mane barely changes between them. I would have liked the option to choose your mane color (and I'm not demanding the ability to have a pink one, but it would nice to be able to choose to be a white Worgen with a light gray mane, or black/brown/gray, etc. Or a black worgen with a light mane. etc.

2. There's a lot of fur in our manes. It would be nice to have some options for it. I'm not demanding styles, per se. But maybe the ability to make it sleeker, or spikier. MAYBE add in a few ponytails down the sides of it, for the hair styles with them or something.

3. Our ears are chosen based on our beard. My model viewer tells me that there are 22 variations and I'd estimate a third of them are beardless (and I think all can be ears can be chosen with a beard, but not all ears with a beard can be chosen without). My issue is the lack of beard variety in terms of color. I HATE the white tuft there. I don't understand why every beard (save one) is white. I wish your beard color was chosen by mane color.

Some stats (via model viewer, so note that they may not be perfect):
Option...Male #...Female #
Fur color...4...12
Face options...9...27 (I imagine this is wrong--I think it may be doubling it by treating DKs as separate)
Hair color...0...4
Hair style...11...20
Ears(/beard)...22...0 (comination of ears and beard/no-beard)

It just seems ridiculous how much more customizable the females are. Especially considering allowing males to choose mane colors would be easy and add a lot of variety.

[EDIT]

The whole "adding hair styles to other races" thing really, really irritated me. Not because they were recycling artwork or because it was like putting actual updates on hold. It irritated me because they clearly made pretty much no attempt to readjust them for the other races. Seriously, all human males with the new options look RIDICULOUS. The hair lines are god awful for all of them. For example, humans got blood elf styles. Blood elf heads are quite a bit thinner than human heads, and smaller. So, the hair style that looks like Varian's hair creates a V at their hair line. On human males, however, it's a straight line, which is super awkward. Furthermore, the hair still has BE proportions, so their heads seem to be flat on top, and the hair often levitates in mid air, or plumetts inside them even when they are idle.

Grrr, it drives me insane when I see them. And now NPCs are getting those hair cuts. >:(

They should at least change the spell icon from a stag hoof to a cheetah paw or something. That is what makes it really annoying.

Correct. My feral set uses the +stam one, and my resto set uses the +int one. Smiley: grin

Since gearswap addons (at least Outfitter) still equip/unequip one slot at a time, I've found that you have to have the alchemist's stones in the same gear slot across specs in order not to break your automation.

Or just give us a stag. The cheetah thing has always annoyed me because cheetahs are burst runners...

True, but I don't think stags are known for running super fast. Not in comparison to cheetahs in any case.

Stags can apparently bound at up to 40 mph for long periods. O.o;; Aerobic bastards...

Oh, some other random facts. Using WoW's yards as a guide, 310% mounts move at around 58 mph.

That means our normal running speed is around 14 mph (which is tremendous when you consider that would be our long-term running speed. The current best mph for marathons is something like 12.8 mph for men.

So the travel form runs at just under 18 mph.

I don't see why it even has to be a cheetah at such a low point.

Well I wasn't saying that our travel form is = in relative speed to a cheetah. ****, after people hit 20 and get their mount the only time travel form is used is in oh **** scenarios while soloing, and popping out of CC during pvp or dungeons/raids. Just that I think when most people think of a speedy animal, they're going to think of a cheetah before a stag. Sounds like a stag form would be more appropriate though.

They should change Travel Form to a mount form, like Flight Form.

Paladins, Warlocks and Death Knights get special mounts (Worgen too), so I don't see why not. Just remove the castable in combat functionality and make it our mount.

40% movement speed just doesn't feel like a lot when you're moving at 30% in Cat Form as a Feral anyway, and Flight Form moves at 310% (plus perks?) speed. Switching from Cat Form to Travel Form, I barely noticed a difference. And you get the form at level, what, 16? Way after most Ferals have picked up Feral Swiftness anyway.

Roll the 30% movement speed into Cat Form since Ferals pick up the speed talent anyway and Restos/Boomies would be without a mobility form if not. That way we still have Cat Form which moves us around at 30% speed, plus we have an instant cast land mount that isn't useless for Ferals.

I'd give a lot to be able to instantly transform into a stag and run around at mount speed through Ashenvale...

Heh, that would be pretty funny! People out there leveling and trying to kill stags for quests would get very confused.

It would be really cool if they'd make travel form the same speed as mounts, I just don't see it happening. Paladins and Warlocks would ***** about it, and want a special flying mount or something. Other people would probably ***** too.
