So, I was tired of feral and respecced boomkin to take advantage of the fact that my resto set is way better then my feral set. Well, today I finally found a healer to queue with so instead of healing I was dpsing and it was a blast. I was pleasantly surprised with both my aoe damage on multiple targets(~20K ish on 5) and my single target damage (~14K I think). I have to say, making the resto set work almost seamlessly with boomkin spec was a fantastic fantastic change.

It took a bit to feel comfortable dpsing again, but it was a pretty easy learning curve, as opposed to kitty dps.

I was just wondering how well the gear overlapped these days; so tempting...

If I didn't have a high level warlock that probably would have been enough to get me to switch to a boomkin offspec. But that'd be too many casters, not enough animals on face.

It's close to perfect. The only problems are with too much hit from spirit, which is fairly easy to fix with a trinket or two for your dps set and the fact that on balance you gear for haste over mastery, where in resto you spec haste to a break point and then spec mastery. That's a minor point though, because mastery is still good. I'm currently getting my haste to 920 and then putting everything into mastery, and I've been happy with my results on both sides. Tank healing and throwing out WG is pretty awesome at the moment.

Can't figure out if I want to go 920 haste or 2k for the WG tick.

2k is a lot, though.

Edit: Think I'll settle for 1221 for the extra LB tick.

And sorry for the temporary derail. I played around with Boomkin in my Resto gear and pulled decent DPS as well. Unfortunately I can't figure out caster DPS, so I switched back to Resto.

Can you get to 2K? I currently can't without gemming for it. I also tend to be tank healing a fair amount, so the mastery loss to get there would really hurt.

I'm always surprised at the amount of haste I have; probably still getting used to stat inflation in a new expansion. 432 reforged away, and I still have 1011; with an average ilvl of 332 on the armory thingy.

Oh right; lazers, moar lazers.

I'll be some 200 haste rating short right now.

What's odd is that, at 1245 haste rating and a Shadow Priest providing the 5% haste, my DrDamage addon still only shows Lifebloom doing 11 ticks. What buff am I missing?

I was reviewing my toon, and just realized that I replaced my crappy boots, that none the less had haste, so I'm below 920. Smiley: glare

I'm impressed you enchanted a blue staff with heartsong, I didn't bother.

Does that include the bloom? Since you'd be getting 11 ticks and a bloom with a 12sec duration.

Did you press Num Lock? Smiley: tongue

I'm just grabbing whatever enchants are cheap for stuff at the moment. There were a couple up for like 200g on the AH, which is all of 5-10 minutes of herbing, so I figured why not. Smiley: smile

Also I hate how that proc looks. Makes me want to dash away somewhere Smiley: rolleyes

Not really sure. I was following this chart from MMO-Champs.

Says Lifebloom gains a 12th tick at 15% haste, but mentions that pre-buff haste levels should be 1221 rating or 9.53%. I'm not a wizard at math, but wouldn't 9.53% plus 5% equal 14.53% and not 15%?

Might explain why.

I'm pretty much always getting DI these days, which gives me an extra 3% haste, making the WG breakpoint 1616, so I'm planning on going for that breakpoint. The rejuv breakpoint is a laughable 532 haste with DI.

Xsaurus, you make me feel like a fail boomkin. I haven't managed to pull that kind of dps yet on anything but gimmick fights. And my haste sucks balls right now. It's at 1243, which is still about 200 less than I need for an extra tick with my DoTs. It could be worse though I guess... Sad thing is that if I hadn't had to reforge all my gear for hit/spirit to get hit capped, I'd have just enough haste to get that extra tick.

Damn, I can't get to 1616 with my current gear short of gemming for it. bah.

With your current gear (looked your armory) you should be perfectly able to do that.
You have almost the same gear a I do and I`m pulling 14k dps self buffed without food/flasks while I`m testing rotation in the dummy.

Wish I could equip both the +sta and +agi Alchemy trinkets. Sitting on a rotten, green, ilvl 312 +sta trinket. Smiley: frown

Hmm, I'll try playing around on a dummy then. The other boomkin in my raid group has slightly better gear than I do, and even during raiding on Saturday, neither one of us hit 14k dps. So if I'm ******* up, so is he. >.>

Last I heard they limited us to one alchemist trinket equipped at a time. I think it was in the patch notes where blizz said they were an "unique equip" or however they phrase it.

I know, sad day... Smiley: frown

Alchy stones have the longest equip restriction I have ever seen on an item.

I know how you feel. My DpS DK by the time I disabled my account near the end of Wrath had purples in every slot but trinkets, which were green. I just never got any good drops, and the emblem ones weren't as good as other upgrades I could get.

Really brought my ilvl down. :( To be fair (in a very, very loose sense of the word), I did HAVE purple trinkets that just happened to be worse than my green ones. So I could have inflated my gear score by lowering my dps, but I resisted the temptation.

Once I have the Valor Points, I'll get that lame +armor trinket from the vendor.

Don't know what's up with Blizzard and lame vendor tanking trinkets.

I know--they're never exciting. DpS get interesting things like transformations w/ buffs or building charges that explode when they hit 20.

To be fair, there's something to be said with being passively reliable. But it would be fun to have something that built a charge with each Dodge and, at 5, gave a small damage shield or <insert mitigation, avoidance or health buff>.

At least make the purely defensive effects somewhat interesting (even though all they are doing is reducing incoming damage by 10% or something). Like let me place a totem that will absorb a fraction of the damage taken for x seconds and then explodes, dealing minor damage in a small range (that includes a higher threat modifier).

[EDIT]

I guess my main issues is that they always say they want trinkets to be flavorful pieces of gear, rather than just something you take for passive stats, but all tanking trinkets are relatively boring--at best adding a CD that's inferior to all the rest of them.

If I wasn't a JC I'd try get Tia's Grace to pair with Leaden Despair.

What you rocking for tank trinkets?

edit: My priest has terrible trinkets. :(

I'm using the alchemy trinket with the green +sta trinket from Twilight Highlands. It has a mastery proc which I figured was better than Leaden's proc.

I luv my stamina trinkets. Smiley: drool2

....

I only use two stam cause one is the JC with a dodge clicky, otherwise I would of farmed Tia's. Even normal Tia's would be better than the green stam one.

Armor is still awesome. Armor is still sexier than Mastery. Armor always works, it is beautiful.

edit: you need better tank trinkets as the Alchy one + your mystery mastery trinket aren't to spectacular :P

So you can own more than one Alchemist's Stone, you just can't equip more than one simultaneously, right?
