Pick the one change you're most excited about or think will make the biggest difference to your priest.

It's hard for me to choose, but while there are definitely flashier improvements, bread-and-butter wins for me:

Quote:
Surge of Light can now also proc from Flash Heal and Greater Heal, and can now also critically hit.

I rarely cast Heal or Smite in the situations I'd most benefit from a SoL proc, so I think this is the one I've noticed the least in patch notes, but will notice the most in actual play.

Quote:
* The mana cost of Power Word: Shield has been increased by approximately 31%, but its effect has been increased by 208%.

Fairly easy.

Other interesting ones are;
Quote:
* The mana cost of Renew has been reduced by 24%.
* Penance mana cost has been increased by 7%, but healing has been increased by 20%.
* Circle of Healing effectiveness has been increased by 30%.

And this one was kind of vague to me;
Quote:
* Guardian Spirit: The absorb/heal from this ability can now never exceed 200% of the maximum health of the target.

What does that even mean?
"The spirit increases the healing received by the target by 40%, and also prevents the target from dying by sacrificing itself. This sacrifice terminates the effect but heals the target of 50% of their maximum health."
So now you can't... make the 50% heal be in reality a 200% heal by applying different effects to the target that increase the 50% heal by X% so that the target gets healed for twice the amount of HP he actually has? Some bug fix!

I'm most excited about the boost to PW: Shield.

I also look forward to the PoM boost on the first hop for the tank:
Quote:
* Glyph of Spirit of Redemption has been converted into Glyph of Prayer of Mending, which increases the healing done by the first charge of Prayer of Mending by 60%.

This is nice too:
Quote:
* Grace is no longer limited to one target at a time.

How many people would be on it? Two? Three?

I’m most excited about the new 4-piece set bonus that causes all movement-imparing effects on the priest to be suppressed for four seconds after a Power Word: Shield is cast on him or her.

The Guardian Spirit fix means that if the target gets hit by an attack that would reduce him or her to -200% of his or her maximum health, the target dies. It will prevent GS from saving people from various instakill boss mechanics.

This patch is a mixed blessing for me though, no doubt. Nerfs to Chastise will hurt; losing Glyph of Spirit of Redemption will hurt.

A simple one for me. An efficient renew, all will feel right in the world (of warcraft).

As we waded through the stonecore trash yesterday and levitate wore off everyone one by one just in the middle of taking down one of those big rock-like trash-thingys that stamp, I wished I had 10 minute levitates.

In a big way. I saw a video of a priest dueling where he kept his opponent cc'd for 43 seconds in a fear/chastise/MC chain. I'm sure his timing will be messed up bigtime now. On the bright side, I guess the pressure is off me to learn how to do that. Especially since I have no spell pen.

I MC'd someone in an arena for the first time ever the other night! It wasn't at all necessary, but I had a clear LoS and he was ignoring me, so I did it just for fun.

Edit: Also I think they should give us free dust if they're going to go completely changing glyphs like that.

I did a BG with new Disc.

Was SotA so not a good test but definitely felt a lot stronger.

For my Holy spec, I went ahead and dropped State of Mind. With a 1 minute duration on Chakra, it won't be hard ot keep it up. I can always recast and refresh as needed, and I can put those points elsewhere.

Still need to give Disc a whirl (Guild needs a healer, so Shadow is on hold for a while).

Oh, don't worry. I haven't gone quietly into that good night. I'm pretty much taking every opportunity to bring up Shadow so that they won't forget. When the time comes and we have a good replacement healer, I'm bringing Shadowform back. (Yeah)

I didn't play last night on account of my new book came from Amazon and, you know. But when I get on tonight I'm still going to try my arena matches as Holy. Y'all think that's dumb? That nerf to Chastise is no fun but overall I think Holy got buffed. Not as much as Disc, but it didn't need it as badly.

I think playing the style you enjoy is a great way to go. You'll be the judge as to whether it works for you.

You're right Dadanox. I'm just always so torn between Disc and Holy. It's like someone's offering me a choice between Colin Firth and Matt Damon and, like, i can haz both? It makes me fickle. But at the same time I have to pick one or the other as my main squeeze, because when I try to split my time between two specs I always get my buttons confuzzled and have trouble playing either well. I know most people can do it but I'm kind of spec-monogamous.

Generally with each change one emerges as my new favorite though, so I'll have to give both a shot at some point. I'm talking about specs now, not hot actors, just so we're clear.

Teacake, if you had to make that choice go with Colin Firth, he would probably let you sleep with Matt Damon while he was out of town shooting a movie anyway.

Just saying...

TBH, that was my best example, but Matt Damon, much as I'm sure he's a cool guy, is really a distant second. Colin Firth has been my movie boyfriend since 1995 and you just don't throw away a 16 year relationship.

A shield is just over 20K as holy with two points in Improved PWS. That plus the synergy between Body and Soul and Holy Walk--the 4-piece PVP set bonus--make for a huge boost in Holy Priest survivability. I’ve reglyphed for the PWS heal too, not just for the extra healing, but to proc Echo of Light as a little bit of dispel protection.

Had a mirror match in 2s last night between myself and my frost mage and a discipline priest and his frost mage. Victory to us! I used Chastise -> Manaburn whenever he came into my field of vision, while calling for my partner to root him there so I could Manaburn more. Whenever he wound up a Manaburn on me, I Body and Souled my butt behind my pillar. Also, my mage was a little smarter than theirs about spellstealing.

Yeah, the Holy Priest CC chain was my secret weapon against holy paladins. It’s dead now, not so much from the chastise nerf as from the blanket nerf to CC: Mind Control and Psychic Scream are both 8 seconds max now.

Sounds more like you're a serial spec-monogamist to me. :-p You're like Christine from Phantom of the Opera, switching back and forth between Raul and the Phantom. ;-)

True, true. Someday I'll find a the right spec and settle down. Matchmaker, matchmaker, bring me a match, find me a find, catch me a catch...

Okay, I'm mixing musicals. Time to go download the patch and fix my glyphs.
