I've never really had goals in WoW until I started really getting into Hunter. I'm nearly lvl 80, and in the past 2 days I've caught 2 sweet new pets; Buru the Gorger and Arcturis. Loving Hunter more than ever. Next time I log on, I'm getting a ghost worm from Storm Peaks. I'm addicted to pet hunting. Smiley: smile

Just had to gush somewhere. Taming Arcturis was a real rush.

Congrats!

I wish I was able to tame/even find some of the rare spawns. I've been trying to find Sambas, Karoma, Terrorpene, and Ghostcrawler for awhile now. Pretty much all the new cool skins but I haven't had any luck.

I don't have any of the rares from wrath either, maybe some day I'll go back and try to catch some.

So I had a pretty good weekend. Friday night I finished Vash'jir (and, consequently, all of the Cataclysm zones) and decided to poke around Ghostcrawler's area. Whizzed around on the seahorse, and spotted a dot on the map after not even one full patrol. Landed, Nerfbat'd, tamed.

Saturday I decided to start making the rounds of several rare spawn locations between queues. In the afternoon, I stumbled across Loque'nahak. Landed, tamed. Late Saturday night, I stumbled across Skoll. Landed, shot with an arrow (there was someone chilling on a flying mount nearby), tamed.

So this evening, I decided to go and buy a few enchanting recipes from the shard trader in Twilight Highlands. Thought what the heck, I'll see if Sambas or Karoma are up.

I buzzed Karoma's spawn points, and on about the 5th point I crossed, npcscan raised a stink, and there was Karoma! Landed, tamed.

This luck can't continue, can it? Four Spirit Beasts in three days?

I hope not!

I camped GC for a couple days nothing. Usually 2-3 times a day I look for Sambas and Karoma and nothing. Even fly out and look for Terrorpene sometimes. Nada.

I haven't be able to find a rare spawn yet, besides Aeonaxx, which isn't a pet. My luck must have quickly run out when I kill it.

I either have terrible luck or my server is so bad everyone spends all their time camping pets because I have yet to find one.

I did a little searching at the end of WotLK, but never had any luck. Now I have been spending a decent bit of time looking for Samba and still no such luck.

Congrats on the lucky day!

Apparently the luck hasn't run out yet, I caught Jadefang today. That one's a tricky one, I suggest you know what to do before you hunt it >.>

Hunting for pets is awesome.

Went on a hunt for a Wind Serpent in Wailing Caverns the other night. Haven't been in there since The Burning Crusade or so. Of course, once I tamed one, the rush sort of faded and I realized I didn't need a Wind Serpent as much as I needed something cooler.

I did tame a rare pet, though. That black wolf in Feralas. I wanted an old world wolf (don't like the weird WOTLK wolves) and wanted a black one, plus I was near Feralas, so I figured I'd go there. Found it on my first circuit, tamed him and proceeded to kick *** with him.

He's still my main pet. It's just a shame that the pets grow so big when they hit level 80+. Wish my wolf would stay small.

I don't think Jadefang itself has anything to do with the daily, but in order to tame it, you have to have accepted the daily from the dude at the entrance of the cave Jadefang is in. There's a point where you have to use the explosives from that daily to blast yourself into a raised side tunnel where Jadefang is.

Also, I found Grubthor yesterday. :D

EDIT: Also, I just caught Gondria! Spirit Beasts: 6/6

Caught Sambas today. My want list is rapidly dwindling. Still keeping an eye out for Terrorpene, Madexx, and King Krush.

My luck is so bad, I don't even worry about rare spawns.

And regardless what I tame, I'll always use my wolf anyway. Smiley: tongue

Haven't really hunted rare pets. I am pretty stoked at becoming raid viable again. Magmaw is a biggie for us because we can kite the bloodworm adds and it appears that omnitron is also hunter friendly, since we toss out frost traps in the center for the raid to kite adds through.

I miss the dps we did in wraith but at least we aren't as bad as we were pre-cata release where bm was the only viable spec, while spamming arcane shot =(

We stopped killing adds on Magmaw, all you need is a prot warrior who can victory rush back to health. Allows us to just focus on boss, and the warrior can aoe down adds. I of course still have to stand at range, but I can avoid pillar.

I wouldn't trust a war being able to collect all the worms, a mage maybe or even a dk. Plus if you are doing the setup where the entire group, except the kiter is by the pillar near Magmaw, you won't have enough distance to use range...

Thought I'd mention: a guildy tipped me off that Terrorpene was up about a week and a half ago, and I have him now, too. I had enough time to hearth to Org, fly up and use the port to Hyjal, and fly all the way down to the lava lake without anyone else showing up. My guildy died in the process though, as I asked him to kite it >.>

I picked up Olm the Wise on my Night Elf hunter, after leaving her parked out at his spawn point for a few days and checking every time before I logged in to my hordies. I'm not much of a rare hunter, but this was one pet I really wanted--what a rush! Got a lot of compliments on him while checking the AH in Stormwind, too. :)

Got T11 drop, made a mechano-hog, and kickback 5000.

Now I want to start a ****'s Angels guild where we ride out on motorcycles and shoot/stab unsuspecting Allies and stop off at local taverns. Hunters, Rogues, and Warriors only.

I finally got my first spirit beast, Karoma. I searched all NR sb's and nothing, terrorpene nothing, sambas nothing. Too lazy to go out again for GC, though my friend said he watched another hunter tame GC right in front of him. Smiley: frown

I caught Sambas the other day too! Finally I'm starting to acquire some cool pets. Now I want Terrorpene.

I still want Samba's, but no luck. I had someone tip me off about Karoma being in the area, but I didn't have a BM spec so that didn't work out.

I did find a cool rare bird named Emberwing in Tanaris while doing archeology, but when I tamed him he got a lot smaller of course and he wasn't on fire anymore. I guess it's still a cool two-headed fire style bird.

Got Olm the Wise yesterday. If there is a DK in the group I actually use him over the cat. The roar of recovery is an awesome focus boost and my dps is around the same.

Ferocity: (using 1 pt in shark attack 1 pt in wild hunt which gives best dps results)
Call of the Wild: 148.02dps
Rabid: 240.02dps
Spider's Bite (3 pts): 221.54dps

Cunning: (comes out as 13.78dps above Ferocity)
Roar of Recovery: 29.28dps (obviously the value of this will vary a lot depending on circumstances)
Wolverine Bite: 138.33dps
Owl's Focus (2 pts): 374.71dps
Feeding Frenzy (2 pts): 168.33dps

Obviously bosses are different than dummies but it seems cunning for SV and MM can be comparable to ferocity. Especially if your cats buff is over-written by horn of winter. Rabid is really nice though.

I've tamed a few rare pets today. Got the unique skinned wolf with the sword in his head, as I already posted a thread about it. I also tamed the oil stained wolf and bird and a rare green chimera. I looked for the NR spirit beasts and no one was there. I am also looking for Olm the Wise with no such luck yet.

I'm almost to 333 average ilvl. I realized that a lot of the reps this time around need you to do a ton of quests before they activate, which is aggravating.
