All this talk about restoration and feral tanking changes and nobody seems the least bit bothered by the biggest and most game-breaking change of them all.

Shapeshifting no longer breaks roots and snares. Seriously, how is the whole druid community not up in arms and ready to storm Blizzard HQ over this? This is a disastrous change that absolutely must NOT go through. It simply cannot.

Besides, Blizz thinks it's okay for melee to need a healer or S Priest to dispel magic snares to get to a frost mage, but frost mages don't need a healer to help survive a melee class actually being able to, ya know, get some time on-target to do damage.

It would be nice if they added a Feral ability that shifting would break roots, but only once every 30/60 sec, etc.

I didn't like that with clique I couldn't click my pitbull unit frames without trying to cast a heal. With healbot only clicks on healbot actually cast the heal, so I can essentially double bind all my mouse keys.

I know the thread's moved past this a bit, but you can configure which frames Clique will activate on, so you can set it up to only work on Grid.

The roots/snares change is massive and I am surprised there isn't more agro - but then so many players don't even look at PTR patch notes or go to forums like here at Zam. At the end of the day though, I can't get too worked up about it as it has little effect on me as a PvEer. On the odd occaision I do PvP, it is as resto so for me personally, it is a non-issue.

There's a 270+ page thread on the Oboards about it.

I'd say this change has generated a fair amount of rage. Especially combined with the other ridiculous changes.

Still no word on Thick Hide. Might increase our armor by about 10k, might be a bug, in which case we get zero out of this patch and everything is taken away from us.

I mean, seriously, I'm not tanking anymore. Loved it in TBC and WOTLK, but this is just not worth it. Too damn frustrating in 5-mans. So Bears are OP on boss fights in raids, which I get they have to nerf, but in the process they just turned Bears into full-time gimps in 5-mans.

Can't tank any before Thrash, which we get 81 levels into the game, and now we can't tank anything we don't outgear like crazy.

Well, I responded to this patch and some of the other issues in the only way a consumer can. Subscription ended on Friday, and I don't intend to renew anytime soon.

You just don't do that. You don't change core mechanics of a class as easy as this. This time it was the druids, and it could hit anybody else anytime.

What they need to understand is that I don't need to be playing this game at all. Don't need to be paying every month while they're playing russian roulette with the nerf bat.

I've been a long supporter of this joke, but I'm starting to think I'd be able to let the game go without coming back. And it's not just because of the recent changes to the Druid class. The game, in its entirety, has loosened its hold on me.

This expansion is pretty underwhelming (and expensive) if you aren't going to level up from scratch. Since my character list is maxed out and only one character is sub-60, I'm not really getting much for the money. Of course, the changes to the Druids don't help much either. It's not that I really care about being able to shift out of roots, it's more that it shows a complete lack of understanding from the development team's side.

And when people complain on the forums, they're banned with the excuse that their post wasn't contributing to the friendliness of the forum. That they should present their criticism in a constructive and supportive way. Except, people have done that for months now and **** all has happened. The customer service has been on a decline ever since Activision bought Blizzard.

As it stands right now, I'm just waiting for the New Gaming Experience* patch, because I'm certain it's on its way.

* There once was a game called Star Wars Galaxies that Star Wars geeks across the globe loved and adored. Then Sony Online Entertainment, in their infinite wisdom, decided to completely revamp the game to make it appealing to a larger crowd. The end result was that the majority of their player-base packed their bags and left. The game no longer held any of the unique things that had attracted the existing customers in the first place.

Ah yes - count me among the victims of the NGE. I came to WoW because they tried to make SWG more like WoW and failed dismally. It would be like patching WoW to make it simpler by revamping the classes and introducing 3 new powerful classes - the tank, the DPS & the healer! And rolling all of the crafting into one crafting class (but you can only craft on that character then - no PvE or PvP).

Such a shame, it was a really good game and the crafting system was amazing.

Speaking as a Feral tank...

I just want to know, is Blizz now adopting the "It's Nerf or nothing" slogan?

Common sense dictates that damage tone towns usually mean less threat. What good is the shiny armor if you don't have the threat on you to get hit?

Are you losing threat in a non-AoE situation? I found that I could easily double the threat of anyone in my raids, and since I was pulling around 10K dps the 20% reduction wasn't a surprise at all.

Well....we raided yesterday. I topped the dps charts in Magmaw, Omnitron e Maloriak 25 as Moonkin. I wasnt doing that before and the only change between last week and this week was the patch, since the new gear I got (Tier piece and Hit Trinket) was from and after yesterday`s raid.

I expect a nerf soon.

It's not the model, I kinda like that.

Bugged, though. No perch/sit and collecting animations, the size of a wind rider and moves like one (up and down, up and down) and the model is not centered, meaning it's above the actual hitbox. Casting Rejuvenation or Thorns on one will cause the animation to occur underneath it, and coupled with the weird up and down movement while flying, it makes it kinda hard to steer.

Just seems very half-assed considering they had to withhold it from the release of Cataclysm.

Same considerations, here. Seems like someone didnt finished the job and just let it go.

Anyway, back to moonkin:

Welcome to the land of crapton of damage. Was looking into yesterday`s Maloriak 25 log (I posted above), I spiked a 830k crit hit with Wild Mushroons. Around 69k hit in 12 mobs (dunno if we had 12 mobs up that time or less).
And I don`t even had a moonin Tier piece on (though I have it now).

Yeah, they certainly seem to be playing catch-up with things lately. Like they're a bit overwhelmed by the number of bugs/glitches/imbalances/etc and struggling to get as much fixed and on live as possible.

Then again if I was to choose my dream job, it wouldn't be debugging a program that is changing as drastically and constantly as WoW does. Especially considering some of the under-lying code has to be near 10 years old now. I'd imagine parts of it are probably full of loose ends, convoluted connections, and quick fixes that aren't as well documented as one would like. Some of the inevitable stuff as different programmers come and go.

I'm usually impressed that they manage to balance the 31 specs across everyone's skill levels as closely as they do, and still have time to do other stuff.

Still lackluster animations are lackluster.

Frankly, I was absolutely amazed back in beta when they set Dec 7 as the release date, because the state of the game was in no shape to ship then. Of course, the beta client was a few versions behind the dev client, but still. I was convinced that the game shouldn't ship until the new year, rather than get a xmas release.

I think I was right, having gone read entries dating back to launch on MMO-champion and seeing the current state of balance.

Armory in singnature. It has 2 epics I didnt yesterday, though. Tier chest and hit trinket, so my gear actually got better since that raid.
Log parse of the fight is linked above.

I made a video of the whole fight if you wanna check if I was in eclipe or not, I don`t remember. I`m pretty sure it was in green phase, though, with all the adds and what not.

edit: Actually, it wasnt 830k, but 894,815 hit:

By the way.

Some theorycrafters with connections giving their opinion on why Thick Hide was buffed.

Explains a lot of stuff.

Hmm. Methinks I need to take a better look at reforging my gear and such. We're just about equal as far as gear goes, and you're doing significantly higher dps than I am. You've got nearly twice the amount of haste that I do, although I've got about 100 more SP. Granted I haven't done Maloriak yet, so I don't know what kind of dps I'd pull in that fight, but a couple weeks ago doing Omnitron I was topping out at about 13-14k. Did you notice your DPS jumping up much last night from previous raid nights before the patch?

Yeah, a lot. I was consistently doing 15k to 18k, now I am doing 20k on the same bosses (atleast I did yesterday). Magmaw, Omnitron and Maloriak 25.

I tend to believe that if I get to use Mushroons when I move instead of Moonfire/Sunfire, I will do even more DPS, I only need to work the placement. I got a few out when I was moving between blue and green phases and they hit the boss like a trunk.

The Kitty changes seem pretty good from a PvE point of view. On a few Valiona & Theralion attempts last night I finished on over 17k DPS. Certainly more than I was doing pre-patch on standard fights (no encounter specific buffs). My shreds were critting for 23k :)

#176 Feb 10 2011 at 3:14 AM Rating: Good
Okay, reforged my gear as well as re-gemmed. I took a look at Willow using Rawr, and discovered that two of the JP pieces I didn't have yet were BiS before raiding. I did my random heroic for the day, and got up enough JP to purchase the helm, now I just need to get the off hand, which should only take two or three more heroics. I also replaced the pvp gloves I had equipped with the ones I was wearing previously, as Rawr was telling me that they were better, given that they have haste instead of crit, despite the increase of about 40 Int or so. So that should increase my dps by about 150 or so. Not a huge increase, but it should make a bit of a difference. I also redid my talents, taking the Moonfire talent in the resto tree again, and getting rid of the one that decreases mana cost of spells in the balance tree.

Also during the heroic I was in, I spammed mushrooms on trash as much as I could, and my dps sky rocketed... I've never done 11k dps on trash before. I've been lucky if I get 7k. Can't wait for Magmaw this week... I'm going to go nuts with mushrooms on those blasted worms.
