I can show you the world, shining, shimmering, splendid...

Anyway, just went Protection on my Paladin for leveling, and it's been a blast. Everything I miss on my Druid, I find on my Paladin. I seem to take less damage, hold better aggro (held aggro against a 15k Arcane Mage, heh) and AOE tools to boot. Not to mention the free instant heals and stuff.

And best of all, my resource bar is full from the start and never drops. It's like being a Bear (for the Druids reading this) starting at full rage and every time you Pulverize, you gain 30 rage. It makes no sense, but it's awesome as hell.

Oh, and Avenger's Shield and I got engaged. We're planning on getting married next week. I want to have its babies.

Seriously, Avenger's Shield... my love... it's like a ranged double-glyphed Maul that also silences. Just writing this down almost gave me a nerdgasm.

Shhh! I know we are sexy but keep it down. We are hiding from the homogenized tank nerbat 4.0. >.>

<.<

PS try glyphing the sheild for one target. Then load up on STR/Ret gear but spec prot and use a Sword and Board. Then go into a BG and BAM CAPT USA SHEILD TO FACE GNOME MAGE HAHAHAHA. Oh a Proc BAM EAT SOME MOAR YOU CREEPY LITTEL MIDGET!

Good times.

The glyph was nerfed to 30%, wasn't it? My Shield already crits for 10-11k without cooldowns.

Starting to note some things about the spec in PvP. First and foremost, the lack of a 10-second interrupt. Casters go to town on me often. Second, no gap-closer. Warriors and Druids have Charge, Death Knights have Death Grip. Paladins have their legs and lots of will. Coupled with the aforementioned lack of interrupt, something like a Frost Mage can just go to town on me. Can't even dispel any snares I might have on me.

And with the duration nerf on Bubble, I can't even Bubblehearth. Smiley: cry

Not saying you're wrong, but Pursuit of Justice II works nicely to increase speed a little, and Hand of Freedom can be used to escape those snares. There is no closer as good as a Warriors or DKs, but Avenger's Shield silences briefly and once you get them down to 20% they are essentially instantly dead.

It's not like it was at 80 when 4.0 first came out, but we're still a very obnoxious class to mess with in PVP!

Prot is good in pvp, raised to excellent if you get lucky with avenger's shield procs. If you gear correctly of course. Anything is better than ret at the moment. Divine plea giving free holy power is golden, i have a cancelaura macro so i can have a free 20k heal when i need it. I want to try unholy DK/prot pally/resto druid as a 3s team. Do a cc chain on the enemy healer using hammer of justice and procced avengers shield while the dk stacks necrotic strike to the sky.

After I started leveling my protadin, the instance I did with my feral tank felt like I was playing a gimped paladin in a furry suit.

Yeah, people really made the launch and re-spec'ing of Paly Tanks into a major *****-fest.

The use of Holy Power is relatively simple.

If you watch for the proc, you can virtually guarentee a SoR crit for some where in the area of 15k+ (Easily).

It takes a moment to get used to the CS and HoR sharing a CD, but it's not a big deal. The only time you can't use CS is when you have a big group. But on a sigle mob, using either CS or HoR isn't going to make or break your tanking. I think CS hits a little harder on a single mob than HoR, but it's not insanely harder.

Combining Exorcism for the pull, with an instant Avng Shield, followed by a Judgement (To get your mana back) then CS, Consecrate, Holy Wrath, CS....

The first 3 will give you major spike agro on 1 target (Especially if you glyph for single target tanking)

After I've burned all my abilities and hit (read: Crit) for a big SoR - I just use WoG for Holy Power Consumption...

Word of Glory is almost silly. It crits for about 20k (no cooldowns used) at level 82 in my current gear (Cata greens).

It's like being able to cast a free and instant Healing Touch while in Bear Form. Except it also applies a buff to your survivability. Really, I don't know how the developers worked on Protadins then looked at Bears and went "Let's nerf Swipe."

I just don't understand the logic.

It crits for about 6.5k on my 66 paladin.
She has 9k hp.

But yeah, protadin tanking is like feral tanking with badass heals and a lot of buttons for swipe.

You people are making me want to make my Pally my first char to take to 85. I was gonna do my rogue first since it has 2 gathering profs, but now I'm seriously reconsidering.

I just wish you could get a free race change, because I would REALLY like to make my itsy bitsy teeny female BE pally into a hulking monster of a male Tauren.
