Well, not yet, unless you are leveling a Tauren Paladin I guess, but in 10 days we'll be leveling our paladins again. I know I will. With the free talent reset we got this last patch, I decided to leave my secondary specc untouched until I decide how I'm going to level.

I love surviving forever, so I'm probably just going to forgo the possibility of leveling as ret and leave that specc untouched until 85 and then dump the points into holy (could do it now too, but I really don't think I'm going to level as holy anyhow).

So what about you guys? Anyone going to change his specc to level? I expect most holy paladins will level as ret anyhow, but what about tanks? Just curious.

Well I have a Tank spec main, and ret as off set. Will probably see how the leveling goes. Should be ok with ret most of the way up, but if needed can throw on some tank gear. I do have the Shoulder, Chest piece and ring for 25% more Exp, and what ever comes from the Guild. So hopefully leveling will be quick.

I'm still 76-about-to-ding-77 and I tried going back to Ret at 58 AND at 68 and both times I regretted it, even with the relatively 'amazing' new weapons from HFP/BT.

When fighting singles you'll get almost as much DPS with Protection, but when you fight groups or get yourself into trouble Protection's survivability is notable, and the damage actual exceeds Retribution. When you put this all together you match the questing speed of Retribution in almost every aspect with increased survivability which allows you to take on even harder quests (I took at Azzirus the Cruel at 59 and the DK assist quest in BT at 69 solo as Prot). Considering the ease of finding groups in Dungeon Finder with Protection, the fact that you'll already be geared, and the familiarity with the spec I think most players can level as whatever their main spec is now with some minor alterations that gear them more towards questing than raiding.

I'm not changing anything as far as my specs go. I'm Prot main, Ret off, so I don't really see any reason not to have both specs ready to go at all times, even leveling up. I'll probably level Ret, but queue for dungeons as DPS/tank and switch as needed. Also, if I come up against a quest I can't quite do as Ret, I can just pop on over to Prot and try with the increased survivability. It might have been more of a decision if we were still without duel-spec, but with it, just seems a waste to not have both ready imo =/ (for those who already bought it that is)

EDIT: I should learn to proofread BEFORE hitting post >.< lol

A holy spec with Denounce and Shining Light (?) is what I will use for levelling. Should be enough to blow up most enemies before they get in range...

Judging by your signature, you're already 80, so unless you're rerolling your paladin, those heirlooms will not work for you to level 80-85.

I'm Ret main with prot off. I use my prot spec in PvP and with ret gear on and glyphed captain america shield it hits pretty damn hard. I will probably stay Ret mostly and switch to prot for any end of the quest line 3 man bosses and such.

But this thread has me thinking somewhat that just rolling Prot the entire time might not be a bad way to go. I guess it depends on how tough the normal mobs and quests are and if I start to feel too much downtime in between kills.

I might need to actually spec some holy too for dungeons as I roll with a group that already has a really good Feral tank.

Hmmm WTB Tri-Spec!!!
