I want to talk (whine) about SerendipityFollow

Why wouldn't they have changed it to work off Heal? Flash Heal is supposed to be becoming an emergency spell (and Binding Heal has always been, more or less), and Cata healing is supposed to be about efficient casting. It's not very efficient casting to TRY to use an emergency spell twice in twenty seconds. Two points is a lot to spend now on a talent that essentially encourages you to play wrong.

At the moment mana is not much of a concern for me so I don't mind casting Flash Heal willy nilly, but when Cata hits and I'm supposed to be doing it "right," I don't know about this talent.

Truer words were never spoken. You actually raise a valid point I hadn't considered yet. Forcing you to Flash Heal *twice* to make your next Gheal better makes NO sense in the Cata world of healing whatsoever.

It comes back to the point you made in the other thread Moz about the synergy in Holy being too complicated. I want to cast Flash Heal because I want 2 stacks of Serendipity. No, wait, I want to cast the spell that will keep my Chakra state up. No, wait, I want to cast PoH before my 2 stacks of Serendipity expire. No, wait, I want to cast Holy Word:Chastise, but I actually want it to be Chastise, so I need to let the Chakra state expire. No, wait...

My Holy wish list right now:

1.) Get rid of Serendipity entirely, or change it to suit this new stance-style healing.

2.) Simplify going in and out of chakra states. Chakra is cool as hell but what I've done mainly since the patch is battlegrounds and in that environment I can't use it to full advantage with the current mechanic. I want to be able to change states the way a druid can change forms. (Yeah, okay, why don't I just ask for a million dollars and unlimited pie, but you know, it's a wish list.)

3.) Fix HW:C in some way that will let me macro it to one button. Holy Word is awesome, and I love it, but it's kind of hard for me to use. I've tried speccing both with and without Revelations and I have to say, right now I like without better. But I feel too guilty that way, like I've somehow wimped out on really learning how to play Holy.

But I admit a lot of this is learning curve on my part rather than something Blizz should actually fix. Serendipity, though, does need their attention.

My thought is that Serendipity enhances your abilities during an emergency situation. It's not "I'm gonna cast flash heal twice now to get Serendipity". It's "Oh ****, oh ****, I'm spamming flash heal and he's still going down. I wonder if I can get a Greater Heal off?". Thanks to your reduced cast time, you get the heal off, the tank doesn't die, you catch up to the damage, and you are a hero.

Now, is that worth 2 points? Maybe.

That sounds really good in theory Dada, but... have you EVER, during this entire expansion, cast two Flash Heals on the tank and followed it up with a Gheal to save his *** from spike damage?

I reckon literally 95% of my (unwasted) Serendipity stacks go to PoH. Of the 5% that do go to Gheal, 4% have been on the Valithria fight with me playing with different throughput options. That final 1% has been in extremely extraordinary rare situations where A) I knew the paladins weren't going to be able to cope with the incoming tank damage (due to them being dead, out of range or out of mana) and B) I wasn't entirely sure when the spike was going to land and wanted to cancelcast Gheal over Flash Heals due to A) mana concerns, B) knowledge that two Flash Heals weren't going to be enough but one Gheal crit might be and C) the fact that one Gheal would land ~0.1 second faster than two Flash Heals (who'd take the 0.1 second per cast).

The situations where I've found it worth to use Gheal over more Flash Heals for ST spike-trouble throughput have been astronomically rare and I'd daresay it's only happened twice or thrice in over a year of twelve hours of raiding per week.

Granted, situations like these will occur a lot more often in Cataclysm, but two Flash Heals will continue to take care of 95% of all spikey tank damage. The Greater Heal would really only apply in a couple of niche cases where there was an actual ~7 second spike of heavy damage on the tank, something I don't expect to see on more than one or two bosses in virtually any level 85 instance, be it 5-mans or raids.

As it is now, what you'd really want Serendipity for is for a speedy PoH, just so you can get back to CoH, ProM and HW:S quicker. The ironic thing about this is that in these situations you'd almost never want to be casting 'a' Flash Heal in this situation in Cataclysm, let alone two. Its only real application I currently see is one where you throw Flash Heal A, throw Flash Heal B about 19 seconds later, and need that speedy PoH for spike AoE damage another 20 seconds later. And then we're already speaking of quite a damn lot of mana loss.
