Finally downloaded TreeCalcs, did some quick number crunching, and it is interesting.

So for me, sitting around in my 10-man t10 gear here's my old numbers:

Screenshot

Versus my new numbers

Screenshot

The biggest thing that's not on there is the Time to OOM. Before I was a sitting at about 7.5 minutes in my throughput set, with a net Mp5 of -420ish in a RJx5+WG rotation. Now in the default of 'roll a LB stack, RJ, and WG on cooldown' I'm at net Mp5 of +26. Meaning I shouldn't run out of mana if I stick to the rotation.

I'm going to tinker some more to make sure I didn't make any mistakes, but that's just fascinating to me. In the meantime I'm feeling a lot more powerful. Smiley: grin

Also mastery is looking to be quite good as a stat. Plus, if I can really spam RJ constantly, I won't have to worry about the other points in revitalize, since I'll likely be keeping it pretty near on CD.

I see why they did away with the 30% buff now.

Messed around with bear on a target dummy last night... it was both refreshing and odd to have more than a castsequence to worry about. =P

But the Mangle proc (from Lacerate), and having Pulverise really left little room for the new Maul. So I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong or if Maul will now be placed as a low priority. Once I fix Skada I'll be able to look at numbers (Pulv vs. Maul) and see how threat-per-rage works out for both.

All in all, I'm really looking forward to a more engaging tanking rotation/priority queue. And having a proc now is a bonus I hadn't expected.

I spent most of the day redoing UIs and moving people out of Dal as the lag there was terrible.

I got my healer organized 1st and was Smite spamming to heal, which was fun.

Tried to cat DPS but didn't have any sort of buffs working then so it didn't work out so well.

After I fixed that and got back on the druid it was late, so I tried bear form of the heroic boss dummy. Mangle procs were cool, keeping Pulv up was easy, not hitting Swipe was hard and getting OoC procs for Maul was hard as well asI used to being more spammy.

I often would have to Maul even with out OoC procs as I was flooded with rage on a dummy as a tank. That was very weird as I was getting no rage from damage or dodges. I did reforge to be close to hit and expertise capped, hard cap not soft, by removing haste.

Cat gear is still somewhat a mess and still needs a bunch of new gems. I did drop 4T10 all ready for better stats on other gear I had laying around. DPS seems a bit lower but not as low as I thought it would be.

Going to try and actually tank something today, maybe DPS if I can get some timers working.

The new boomkin eclipse is definitely interesting. I never really paid much attention to the whole eclipse thing before, as I was still leveling and I decided I'd just figure it out once I got to 80. I was a bit confused at first as to how it worked. I started out with the arcane spells, hit my solar eclipse and started casting the nature spells until the buff ran out, and then I tried going back to arcane for a while, then figured out that my eclipse bar wasn't moving so went back to casting nature spells.

It is a bit tricky even as a keybinder user going back and forth between the nature and arcane spells right now, but I think that will be easily remedied if I put arcane spells on one bar and nature spells on the other so they're right on top of each other. The damage buff seems pretty OP though. During the normal damage I was doing about 600 dps with about half greens and half blues and heirloom gear, at level 71. During the damage buff phases, I went up to 1000-1100 dps.

My impressions of 4.0.1 and AOE tanking is:

OH MY GOD, WHAT JUST LANDED ON MY FACE?!

Swipe on cooldown just made me cough up blood out of depression and preemptive stress.

As for my impressions of 4.0.1 and healing:

Hmm, interesting...

HoTs have been changed around somewhat. Regrowth is more of an OSHI- heal right now, with the short cast, huge mana cost and short HoT duration. Lifebloom now works well with tank healing, since you can keep that 3-stack up for 244 mana every 10 seconds. Nourish also works well with tank healing, since it refreshes Lifebloom at a low mana cost as well. Healing Touch is probably our go-to direct healing spell now, with the same cast time as Nourish, but the larger heal and mana cost.

Right now, though, I do fine with just Rejuvenation and Wild Growth. I toss out a Lifebloom once in a while for fun and Replenishment, but mostly it's just Rejuv + WG spam like in the old days. Swiftmend is now very nice as it procs Efflorescence which is like a mini-WG.

I did find that I ran out of mana fast if someone started taking lots of damage. Spamming Regrowth isn't really a viable alternative to the old Nourish spam. Not only does the HPS suck (9k crits instead of 12k Nourish crits in the old days), but the MPH will kill you. Or your child.

Still don't know where to put Nourish and Healing Touch in a 5-man. I've got Swiftmend and Regrowth if stuff hits the fan. I've got Lifebloom and Rejuvenation to keep the tank up. I've got Wild Growth and Efflorescence to keep the mDPS up. Perhaps I can use Healing Touch for some rDPS healing, except people seem to stand within Wild Growth and Efflorescence range constantly.

And 33k mana is just lol. Not noticing any mana issues here.

Previously dual feral specced and trying to smoosh them both into one spec (pipedream to free up a boomkin spec). Prime glyph choices are a bit rough. Yeah, it's too soon for me to be comfortable yet in cat or bear form. :/

Anyone in similar boat?

Buy it at the Inscription vendor. Stack of five for 40s or so. Currently the AH price is 1g a piece, lol.

Yeah, I don't get why they gave scribes the ability to make the vanishing dust if the vendors sell it as well. That's kind of goofy.

I just wanted to point out that even if druids put all their points in resto, they still lack all the throughput/fun talents they need to heal well while priests have points left if they do the same with their holy tree.

Carry on :D

I think this is a clear case of "it's not the size of the hammer that counts, it's how you wield it. Especially if you have two of them, or something"

Never good to show up with 2 tools that are both too small. Smiley: nod

Plus, as a bonus I don't have to say things like "come touch my Lightwell." Smiley: tongue

Druid healing does seem marginally more fun that previous. I liked Priest healing when I was OP healing early TBC dungeons in my heirlooms, but later on... ouch.

Efflorescence has brought with it a new game: "How much green do I need on my screen before I CTD?"

If you turn on the built-in healing floaty text and push out some HoTs and then Wild Growth + Swiftmend, you'll literally get green all over your screen. It's amazing. HoT crits also "sticky" as in they pop out in a larger font and stay there for a while. With all HoTs critting now, it's mayhem.

Edit: Oh, and half the people on Kazzak apparently missed the Druid patch notes, because on my first random dungeon run to test my abilities, some moron yelled out "DRUID USE TREE FORM FFS!" I love the WoW community sometimes.

No joke, the swaths of people I saw who were like OH GOD MY SKILLS ARE GONE WHERE ARE THEY HOW CAN I GET THEM BACK EMO EMO EMO WOE IS ME during the short 30 minutes I spent trying to work on my UI blew my mind.

I seriously hope these changes smarten up the community, this really isn't that difficult to figure out.

I finally raided last night, and felt amazingly overpowered.

The thing that struck me most was really the lack of difference. I mean I still did roughly 2/3 of my healing with RJ+WG. Lifebloom limited to 1 target wasn't a big deal, as really I only rarely had it on multiple targets anyway. Though I really need to get used to rolling it instead of letting it bloom all the time.

I think my biggest problems were instinctively hitting Nourish as a fast heal instead of Regrowth (lost someone that way) and remembering if I use Swiftmend more for Efflorescence, then I won't have it for an emergency button.

Still when compared to a Disc-turned-Holy priest and a Holy Pally who hadn't healed anything yet; well at least I got to put out a lot of pretty green numbers. Smiley: grin

What is this Efflorensce spell you guys keep talking about? I don't see it in my spellbook as a future trainable spell, and I've mostly filled out the restoration tree. Am I just blind? >.>

Resto talent tree, 5th tier, on the left. You have it already. Smiley: thumbsup

It's an AoE heal triggered by swiftmend.

Is fun stuff, if you can get people to stand in it. Smiley: wink

Basically, with the talent, whenever you cast Swiftmend, a patch of green goo (I think there's an error with the graphics on it, it's supposed to be a clear green dot on the ground) will spawn and everyone standing on it will be healed (over 7 seconds) for 60% of the Swiftmend's healing.

So if your Swiftmend crits for 15,000 (common number), your Efflorescence patch will heal anyone on it for 9,000.

If you turn on the built-in damage/healing battle text, then do a Wild Growth + Swiftmend on your group, your screen will literally turn green with numbers. From what I've gathered, Efflorescence cannot crit, however.

Oh, neat! Would you have to have projected textures turned on to see it on the ground? I don't think I've noticed it popping up, and I use swiftmend whenever someone's health dips low enough to scare me, lol. I'll have to make sure to use it more often.

I've run the game on Ultra and Fair settings, or whatever the second-lowest one is called. At Fair settings (I'm gonna call it Fair because I'm not sure if that's the actual name) the green circle seems to not appear at all, but on Ultra it shows up sometimes. In both cases you should be able to see a faint green glow in the air above it and on higher details you'll see leaves falling... uh... up... I think those leaves are actually falling up.

Haven't tested it with projected textures turned off. I usually keep it on because otherwise I can't see stuff and 'OMIGOD FIRE AND UR STANDING ON IT DUM DRUID!' happens.

Edit: I think Blizzard might have implemented some kind of "smart" graphics A.I. The leaves seem to appear only when there isn't too much stuff on the screen at once. Like if a Death Knight spams Blood Boil (hate that new spell animation) and I cast Efflorescence, it doesn't appear to pop any leaves. Casting it on myself, alone in a corner of Thunder Bluff (*sniffles* ... Lonely... I'm Mr. Lonely), it shows the circle and leaves and all.

I've heard it shows better on some surfaces than others. Sometimes I swear I can only see it if I'm looking for it, but I usually am, just to see if people are standing in it.

It looks a little (lot) like Lady Deathwhisper's Death and Decay, only a lighter, smaller, and with leaves like maz said. I tend to run with graphics all the way down and can still see it. Which is saying a lot since those fires on Northrend beasts? Ya not so much showing there... Smiley: rolleyes

Yeah with my laptop as crappy as it is, I have to play with the lowest settings possible. I turned off Projected Textures for now because I'm not raiding yet so I figure I don't really need it. The black holes of death in ZD still showed up, even with it off. My fps improved a fair amount by doing that.

I went OOM last night on a blood queen fight that ended 3 seconds before the enrage timer. Ran out of gas with like 20 seconds left.

There's still a lot of meter disparity between myself and the other healers right now. Now I'm not one to sit here and go "omg meters!" but you get used to seeing a certain spread on fights. You know about what % of the healing different people do in different encounters.

That just isn't happening these days. On a lot of fights I'll do more than the other 2 healers (holy pally, holy priest) put together. It's just disturbing. I think there's still a learning curve that the others are going through (I'm suddenly glad healy druids didn't change much), and I'm way feeling overpowered these days.

On another note, our priest's addons are still broken so dispelling on LK didn't go so well. Smiley: lol

Treecalcs is updated (and EJ has a 4.0.1 guide up now too). The new spreadsheet is doing better at explaining my OOM. It has me at about 220 seconds to OOM with LB roll, RJ spam, and an occasional WG. I lasted 280 seconds the other night; so that estimate seems a bit more reasonable, given my lack of perfection, latency, and such.

Anyway, this is a long way of saying I'm probably not reforging my spirit any time soon...
