So basically, GC said "We know a 'few' of you are Blood DPS, but..."

my question is, how badly did they hurt Blood Solo? It sounds like they took a lot of DPS out of Blood and put it elsewhere... I _liked_ the Blood DPS playstyle, the whole "Icy->Plague->Pest->H.Strike/Boil->D.Strike rotation I always did.

It did nice damage, had nice self-heal, and was an awesome, relaxing solo tree.

So how badly did they ***** it up?

Being able to tank more will make it easier to do group quests solo, but... if they badly hurt the DPS... then it isn't going to be fun when it takes forever to kill something, either...

A buff to survivability is a nice bonus with the new Cata model, and damage with leveling gear isn't going to be a huge reduction, as Blizz now designs tanks with the idea that they should be able to do some damage with a moderate threat modifier rather than low damage with a massive one.

Overall, I'd wager that the advantage of higher survivability with Blood will match-up to the higher damage of Frost/Unholy.

Frankly, Blood was too good for leveling in Wrath. I'm glad they balanced them.

From what I can tell, Blood is about inline with the other tanking trees when it comes to questing (minus Feral). You will see a dip in DPS output compared to Frost or Unholy, but seriously who cares? Quest mobs don't live long enough for DPS to matter in any realistic sense. I bet it takes longer to run between the mobs than would be saved by increasing damage out. But with the added bonus that with a tank you can grab a bunch of "only drops 1 ear" type mobs without a care. Take on 4 or more mobs with DPS spec and.... maybe. =)

Leveling in blood should be no different than a paladin or warrior leveling as prot (as many do). You're not going to do high dps, but things aren't going to kill you either, so you can pull packs of mobs and get xp fast. Plus you're already tank spec for instances.

From the tiny amount of experience I've had with it on ptr (Still can't test, mine's tank gear isn't good enough to last 10sec in heroics, thinking of trying regs there.) It may actually be BETTER for questing now. It's got more survivability than my premade prot pally in full 245 gear. And hits considerably harder (You can essentially spam rune strike.

Come mastery the bubble from DS will likely make you near impossible to kill while questing as long as you stick to one or two mobs at a time, Cat mobs will be hitting a LOT harder than you're used to.

Maybe it's just me, but I fail to see the relevance of the last two posts.

Look up Mazra (click my signature). Oh, look, it's a Druid with 40k health in PvP gear. In Cat form. LOLOL. What, it makes no sense. We're discussing Blood and how crap/awesome it is in the beta, not your current DPS spec and health in your DPS gear.

I wanted to try out a Death Knight on the PTR (EU), but because Blizz US forgot to tell Blizz EU that they were rolling out the PTR, the EU char copy site is locked down with 7-day queues (currently locked indefinitely). And I can't create a Death Knight without having a 55 char, even on the PTR. Problem is, every time they release a new build, they wipe the servers. I'm not leveling up 55 levels just to have my characters wiped just before I can test the Death Knight.

You'd think Blizzard would skip the whole level 55 requirement on the PTR.

The last time I saw the DK zone on beta, Mazra, there were a couple of issues.

Mainly these.

Quest for the Horde DK's to go see Thrall. Too bad Thrall isn't there. This made it impossible to finish.

And of course, the Lich King. Meaning Arthas instead of Bolvar. This isn't as bad as the first one, just annoying, lore wise.

Look harder. They're deeply insightful mediations on the most subtle existential questions the DK must answer.

Such wisdom concentrated in one poster must surely be an omen of what DKs must do to achieve Nirvana and perfect Blood.
