I'm leveling my second priest now. (Shush teacake)

I may have made a mistake. I'm leveling it as Disc, and I thought it was a pretty smart move. I wouldn't be just another shadowy face in the throng, and I would have a downright fabulous reputation for being the PuG/Party's best friend ever. Yes, everyone levels as Shadow on that server.

...

I'm so bored! There's no challenges, anywhere! I solo everything with ease, I have yet to wipe in an instance and that was with having the tank snorting amphetamines then run screaming at everything he saw with no regards to the blue bars. PW:S + Renew is ridiculously powerful in leveling instances and I never have to break out anything else. Well, except with that one tank I want to write a marriage proposal to for finally letting me break out the GHeal and Flash Heals.

I made the decision based partly on RP too. (LOLRP incoming. PW:S + Renew until they get bored) The Character is not much of an aggressive character, and as a Priestess she's more interested in providing spiritual guidance, protection and healing to those who need it. Melting faces isn't exactly in her job description.

Now... I regret it. I'm fairly well known already on the server for the decision, but good gods, everything's so boring. Even facing Alliance priests in PvP is snortworthy. I faced a Priest three levels above me, and just giggled inanely while I slowly but surely depleted her mana, her buffs and then her health while she wanded at me in abject terror.

Don't level as Disc, ladies and gentlemen. It's too good at the job.

Cata should give you your vibe back. At the moment, it seems tuned for DPS classes. Which works fine for most classes, but it just gets downright retarded when you're supposed to defend a friendly NPC for 5 minutes and you haven't even killed the first add by the time the fifth one spawns.

What's a 'dps' class? I am specced for healing and protection, and yet I barely have to stare at a mob with middling intensity before it explodes in a cloud of giblets and blood. It's not tuned for dps classes. It's tuned for someone running around naked with the first available wand and never having heard of a class trainer.

Are we talking about the same world of warcraft expansion? Cataclysm. You know, the thing that's in beta right now.

If you are in the beta as well - what level are you? Vashj'ir and Hyjal aren't too much of a step up, but Deepholm is gruesome.

... wasn't talking about the beta. Was talking about right now, current day, official server. My apologies, I misunderstood your post. Either way, I highly doubt Blizz'll let anything even remotely resembling a challenge survive before final release. Not after they've spent the last two years methodically removing absolutely everything that meant having to think or have something akin to reflexes.

Yeap...

Anything at low level is OP if you know what you are doing.

On my warrior I am usually over half of my dungeon parties total damage...

To be fair, I don't know. Obviously the way it is right now could get nerfed, but it's been this way for a decent number of builds now, I think, and it just... works? It's not overly hard, but mobs do actually hit for decent amounts and have enough hit points - you can't put up your DOTs, go AFK, come back and loot anymore. It does work nicely because even though most people will be angry that it now takes them longer to kill stuff, stuff is simply challenging again, and challenge makes even grinding/leveling more fun.

I leveled my priest as disc. Was mostly done pre-LFG, I had it for maybe Outland and NR for sure.

PW:S is OP then and only gets better.

You will have to PvP as holy then as disc is an extremely offensive PvP spec at the cap. In the typical BG I have roughly equal damage and healing numbers. Plus I usually don't die unless a few people are attacking me.

I just wonder what happened to the events that used to be fun, you know? Prime example, the stairs in Zul'Farrak. Used to be a fun fight where you managed mana, survivability and sometimes even had to make triage decisions on who you had to let die and who you kept alive. In the 'ye olde' days it was a fairly epic encounter where you could often win by just a hair's breadth, using soulstone and so on just to barely claw together a victory.

Today? Everyone runs down the stairs, and you pull everything into an AoE of Doom. I think I may have bubbled the tank, but that was pretty much it. When it was all over, I blinked and went "Wait... did we just roflstomp the bosses in that AoE?". Taking all the fun out of leveling and instancing, to be quite honest. And 80 is pretty much the same thing.

I can understand making things accessible for non-powergamers but leave some challenge to weed out the dumbasses at least.

Smite cast time reduction, damage increase talents. Smite damage increase against targets afflicted with holy fire debuff glyph.

Smite hurts!

Edit: As disc ofc! Check me out!

You suck.
Smite spec is the spec of gods, being holy and still melting faces.
It's also the best leveling spec until you get to level 40+ because before that shadow sucks donkey balls.
