As a holy paladin, I am having some difficulty making the choice between these two items:

Cowl of Malefic Repose (Heroic)
123 Intellect
162 Spell Power
108 Haste
84 Crit

My relevant stats with the Cowl are:
Haste Rating 912
Crit Chance 42.74% Holy

OR

Sanctified Lightsworn Headpiece
123 Intellect
162 Spell Power
92 Haste
100 Crit

I also get the 2-piece tier bonus, which is:
While your Divine Illumination talent is active, your healing spells are 35% stronger.

My relevent stats with the Headpiece are:
Haste Rating 896
Crit Chance 43.09% Holy

So. The Cowl, by itself, is a minor upgrade (more haste, everything else being the same except crit, crit being less important than haste). My question is, does that minor upgrade make it worth it to lose the 2 piece tier bonus? The bonus is okay - situationally useful on fights like Dreamwalker, and I do pop Div Illumination a whole lot. But I do already overheal like a **** and the 33k HLs I put out with the talent are indeed mostly overheal.

So. Your thoughts? The other tier piece I have is the Sanctified Shoulders, which looks like I'll be keeping until Cata as there's no better upgrades I can see in ICC 10 HMs, ICC 25, or RS 25. I'm not in a guild that has the ability to do ICC 25 HMs and probably won't get to do them.

Go with the tier piece for the 2 set bonus, this gives you a CD to use in conjunction with Divine Plea to partially negate the healing penalty.

As Bawbaag said, I would definitely go with the tier headpiece simply for the purpose of keeping the two piece bonus. It is amazingly nice to either cover the downtime during divine plea or for times when you know you need heavy burst healing. Head and shoulders are the two pieces of tier that I use, and I must say, I'm quite satisfied with them. Now if I could finally win a heroic token. :P
