Mana Issues on Lich KingFollow

We have finally started getting into the 3rd phase on LK with our 10 man group. The issue I'm having is mana. I'm running the cookie cutter Arcane spec with the T10 Set with the ICC Crafted legs. I evocate whenever I can. The only way I've found to help with this is buy swapping out the molten armor glyph for mana gem glyph, using Mage Armor, and Flask of mojo. Obviously this is a DPS loss for me. I keep thiking there is something I'm not doing correctly with the rotation that is causing the mana issues. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Can you post your armory?

I've never really had any huge issues on the fight with proper mana gem/evocation usage.

Does your group have replenishment, if you don't you may have some issues.

As arcane you will probably just want to stick with a more conservative rotation and using AM whenever Mbar procs to conserve more mana.

You are giving up a ton of DPS by not using molten armor and flask of mojo (as well as not a glyphed molten armor).

Do you have a fire set, I haven't had many issues with either build to be honest, but fire seems to hold up relatively well as long as I get a full evocate off. also don't be afraid to ask for an innvervate, most druids don't use them anyway.

for when I did LK as arcane I would pop everything and blow him up in P1, evocate before ragings in 1.5 and follow through with that as the fight goes on, evocating on cooldown when it is safe (no defiles/valks) and popping mana gems on cooldown/when at 80% mana to get the most I can out of it.

I've thought about fire, but "slow" is very helpful with the Valks. I guess I could use Dragons Breath. Here is my armory:

I know where you are coming from on that one, I used Slow (and still have it in my arcane build) for a few fights. But if the slows are covered (iirc there is only 1 valk anyway) then I would focus on killing them. Getting LB up, + some fireballs + instant pyros is a way to put them out of order quickly.

Not that it is a huge difference, but the rule is generally if the socket bonus is +7 spellpower or better you gem for it.

I would have also filled out arcane concentration. You are basically giving up 10% of your casts as free (+ increased damage when it procs). Stability is helpful, but is far from required and is only useful on a couple of fights in all of ICC (one of them being LK during the .5-phases but I would rather have concentration).

Thanks. I usually do max out concentration, but I changed it for the heavy push back phases of the LK Fight, but now that I think about it I am giving up some mana not having it. I think I will try fire. I'm assuming this would be the best build:

Maybe not Dragon's Breath, but Blast Wave would work if you went fire. They're immune to the knockback, but it still slows them.

Agreed. If you don't have anyone there to put a slow up (don't forget, you have cone of cold as well for a snare).

Thanks for the feedback guys. Update. Last night we got Lich King to 14%. Yes, I almost punched the monitor. We are going to try again tonight even-though it's not a normal raid night for us. (We are an extremely casual 10 man crew). I was the 2nd to last to die. Fire was WAY more mana efficient and my DPS was actually higher because I need to evocate less and could keep casting LB and Fireball instead of standing around or doing ABX2.

I'll update again when we down him. I like it when people posts updates to their questions so I'm going to do that.

I'm fire and if I get a lot of HS and fewer clearcasting states, I can have some serious mana problems myself. I do keep a rank 1 frostbolt on my bar in case a valk is out of range of the melee stunners (and for beasts on saurfang sometimes), and if I'm nearby, I definitely do a quick CoC, but I'm mostly able to leave the stunning/slowing up to melee for the most part. Anyway, a lot of times I find myself needing to evocate, usually after the first transition phase. I just pile up with the group before the valks, wait till I get a HS and do a quick hasted evocate. That seems to help me a lot. I sometimes end up doing it again later on (ended up completely oom on our last kill and had to evocate at the beginning of bloodlust UG). But fire really does shine on the LK fight. Phase 3 vile spirits w/ lower health helps the healers a lot, but I do pretty good dps on all the phases.

Good luck on your LK kill. I've found that it's one of those fights that's a dance that, once you do it right becomes SO much easier each kill afterwards. Don't forget to nerdrage when everyone dies at 10% about noobs wiping the raid! lol

UPDATE- We killed Lich King two nights ago. We actually had nobody die, well - until he killed us all. After doing it flawlessly, we now are wondering why it took us so long to get him down. Letting the Off Tank soak up most of the Vile Spirits damage was the key I think. I definitely had less mana issues using fire. Thanks for all the help.

Stupid Lich King dropped two maces.

Yeah the OT Soak is the way to go. If you spend time trying to kill them all you are just wasting your tie unless you are going for the achievement.
