Regrowth is growing on me and other stuffFollow

So today, I was bored, had nothing to do on my priest and all my online friends were in ICC25 (I got saved with a failpug last night, bah!).

After doing the daily on my shaman who I only really play because she's almost 80 now, I decided to log onto my then level 30 druid - I had just gotten a new glyph slot the last time I played her and the only viable choice (in my opinion) was the Regrowth glyph. Not that awesome, but better than nothing, I suppose. It actually cost me 43 gold or something on the AH, but I really didn't feel in the mood to play any other character, so I got it anyway.

It adds a new dimension to my three-button healing. I know it's actually quite awful when you run the numbers, but it's fun to try and optimise my throughput with it.

Did a few SM:GY runs, got to level 32, and learned a few things.

Well, the first run was alright. The second run featured a pally tank who couldn't tank, a warrior who ended up doing the job fairly well, and a group who assured me that they'd clear the areas around the herbs after the boss. Yeah, you can probably guess, none of them stayed on.
I figured I might as well do it on my own and found that it was quite easy and gave me better experience than just being grouped with fail*4.
Then for the next (and final) run I ended up with the same tank again and from the start offered to tank but it turns out he didn't know how to heal. I figured ***** it, hotted myself up and kittytanked the whole place. And then solo'd the rest again, made my second level of the day, and I'm again reminded how awesomely versatile druids really are.

And how kitty is totally a viable tanking form at low levels even in full Resto gear and spec.

Regrowth isn't too terrible, but it does have an awful rep.

When leveling a glyphed regrowth can be a nice "big" heal, especially if you pair it with the 5 points in Naturalist and the Healing Touch glyph; so you end up with a good tank heal and a flash heal.

At end game it just fits into this weird niche, so you rarely find yourself casting it.

Rejuvenation gets the nod over Regrowth for raid healing since it:

-Procs Revitalize
-Can be cast while moving
-has set bonuses that power it up.

...but really throughput-wise the two will work out pretty similar. Actually if you lack a 4pc set bonus it isn't unusual for RG's HPET to be higher than RJ's.

RG can be a nice spot heal for the raid if you have the time to cast it, and leaving that Swiftmendable HoT behind is bonus. It's just that you have to worry about the target dropping dead, and Nourish and Swiftmend get big green numbers on the target sooner. Regrowth can be especially painful when you are mainly using instant-cast HoTs, since you have to wait for that GCD lockout to expire before starting a RG cast; and that can be a painfully slow. Smiley: frown

So in the end Regrowth usually just gets used for powering up Nourish in a tank healing rotation.

And a yay for druid versatility of course. Smiley: yippee

I'm nowhere near raid healing yet!

I'm also not really concerned about min-maxing at this point, so I just enjoy the twist the glyph gives it. Timing it right so that HPET is maximised is fun. :D

Also tanked my first dungeon today (I'm on a roll with this druid at the moment!), in Resto spec with a few pieces of caster gear, it went decently. The healers ran oom, I guess that means I'm not pulling too slowly.
