Hello everyone! I just got WoW about a week ago and love it! ( I'm addicted =X ) I am playing a Night Elf Druid on Maiev (PvP) and I am having loads of fun, although I'd like some advice. I am only lvl 19 and so far have been spending my talent points in Balance and Resto. I want to be a Resto Druid, but I like some of the stuff in the balance category. Is it possible/good to do Bala/Resto druid and be successful in high level PvP?
You can take a look at my guy in my armory. So far I have spent 5 on Starlight Wrath and 2 on Nature's Majesty for Bala. And 3 on Nature's Focus in Resto.
In addition to my talents, I wanted to know where the best place is to go for low level (lvl 20-30) items for my guy. I do not have a lot of money at all although. And I mostly stick around Darkshore and Tedrassil.
If you guys could give me some advice on that, and/or offer any newbie tips...thatd be awesome!

To start with, just put your talents in the places that are going to help you the most leveling. In this case, mainly balance for you (unless you decide to go feral).
Worry about PvP speccing once you get closer to 80. The cost of resetting your talents is a lot for a new character, but once you get to 70-80 and you are getting trash items dropping that sell for more than a gold, the cost becomes irrelevant.

Ok, thanks. Also, is there a good place to go for quality items for my level? If you look at my armory you'll see the lack of items, and lack of quality. Currently I only have a cape, chest item, bracers, gloves, belt, pants, and shoes. Is this normal for my level? Cause I see a lot of people walking around with all their armor slots taken up.
Those people are probably the alts of people who have high level characters already. They are able to buy special heirloom items that level up with their characters. Don't worry about your gear too much, just grab what you find as you level.
Your other option is to use the /lfg tool to do some dungeons as you level. The gear from dungeons your level will generally be superior to the quest rewards you recieve and also the dungeons can be a lot of fun.

Generally, you want to run the occasional dungeon to get some gear. It's not too relevant at lower levels, though.
If you find yourself in a spot like me, you can just level solely through dungeons. At least most of the way.

Yea, I was thinking of doing some instances for some good gear. I was googling low level instances and found Shadowfang Keep and Deadmines to be good choices for my level (lvl 20). Are they good choices? If so, where can I find a group of same level toons to do the instance with me? Should I just go into Ironforge or Stormwind and put "LFG Shadowfang Keep/Deadmines" or something, or is there an easier way?

Press i on your keyboard, it brings up the dungeon finder. You select a role, queue, and you'll eventually get a dungeon.
Healing queues are shorter than DPS queues, tank queues are the shortest, you can theoretically do any of the jobs.
You can choose between queuing for a specific dungeon or a random one; if you choose the random, you will get a bag with some gear, as well. That gear has random stats on it so sometimes it's rubbish, but if it has the right sort of stats, it's amazing at low levels.

It gives you a random item of the right armortype.
Nothing stops it from giving your warrior repeated "of the sorcerer" necklaces though.
Or your balance druid endless "of the bandit" and "of the monkey" gear.

Well, I took you guys' advice and started doing dungeons and I have had great results! I have gotten tons of blue armor, and luckily got a lot of stuff that gives me spirit and intellect, which is good for my resto druid. I also have gotten my money stocks into the gold category, and it keeps growing! I also have 2 items of the same set, so Im working my way to completing it =D
Only need to get a good weapon now. Should I stick with staves for a resto druid? Or train maces?

I guess I got lucky then, I've yet to receive something that wasn't stat optimized for the class/spec on both the DK and my lowbie warlock. So much so that I've received duplicates of the same item from dungeon runs in the same level range.
It doesn't matter what kind of weapon you use, take the one that has the most Intellect, Spirit and Spellpower.

You must be very lucky, I've never got one that was optimized for my class/spec. Every time single I did one with my warrior I got of the sorcerer.

Well, I got some really nice gear now, all thats left is a Helm, Necklace, and 2 trinkets. If you check out my armory page (in the opening post) you can give some feedback on my gear =D
I also got my first mount! Wewt! Anyone know a vendor that sells helms a druid can use? I went the the Ironforge armory and there were no helms in cloth or leather. And a good place for weapons, and should I use staffs or maces? Or should I just keep doing instances until that stuff drops?

Just take whatever you get. Don't bother spending gold on stuff. Save the gold for later when you have to pay for things like epic flight training - you need thousands of gold :)
The only time I have bought gear while leveling was for my warrior & shaman. They are heavily dependant on their weapons for damage (unlike druids) and having bad weapons really made things tough. Your druid will be fine and will grow out of any gear you buy, essentially wasting your cash.

Okay, so, your rings and your cloak are pretty much the only items you have that have the right stats for Balance or resto. Agility and such are for Feral. If you solo and find yourself in Cat Form, those are good, but for casting spells they're rubbish.

Well most of the stuff like the bracers and shoulders are things I came around and I havent found another shoulder/bracer all game. And if you're looking at my chest and gloves, although their base stats are strength, stamina, and agility...their set bonuses are really nice for me. Since I have two I have:
"Increases Nature Spell Power by 7"
And if I get more of them I'll get more spell power, and eventually +10 intellect.
I dont know if that is a good choice, but I've been using it because, to me, the bonuses looked in line with a resto druid.

I might be wrong here, but I think Nature spell power only applies to damaging spells that do Nature damage (i.e. Wrath).
I understand your choice - my own Resto druid is still wearing a piece of gear with Agility at the moment. The thing is, if you run a few dungeons, a lot of it can be replaced and I just wanted to make sure you're on the right path. I've seen too many people make really uninformed gear choices.

Our resto spells are nature class too as far as I know.
The WC set still isn't good for resto druids though, or any druids really.
If the stats on gear itself is useless to you it's not worth going for the setbonus no matter how cool that setbonus might be.
Because even if you get some spellpower/intellect from it, gear with appropriate stats would have gotten you a lot more spellpower, intellect and spirit.

I'd be surprised if it was different for druids than it is for priests, and I'm pretty sure +holy gear does **** all to improve my heals. Wowhead seems to agree with me, for what it's worth.

I changed up my gear a bit, I think it is better now...with the exception of the necklace, it is the only one I've come across, so far, so I am just using it since there is nothing to lose.
You seem to be on the right path.
If you are sure about wanting to be a healer and have the gold to spare, you might want to change your talent spec into full Resto to start grabbing talents deeper in the tree. And drop Subtlety on the way, healing produces very low threat nowadays anyway.
Again if you have the gold to spare, get a Major Glyph. It will make one of your spells more powerful in some way.

I was healing as feral quite well even into ZG at times in Vanilla. Certainly until you hit 60, I wouldn't worry unless you are having difficulty in keeping people alive in the 5mans. Unless you are leveling purely through dungeons, it'll be nicer to stay balance to make quests easier.
