Good morning...
Above is the my armory link for my lvl 80 Ret Paladin. I had took a game break for work reasons; now that summer's here, I want to get back into it. Problem is that I believe I need major changes to do more damage and survive in battle.I had Recount installed; it was saying I was 4th-5th in damage overall so I got laughed at a LOT... I went 1-80 with 95% of it was solo with Ret specs and little grouping, but I want to try healing if possible. Was also thinking might be my rotations might need work too... I was just doing dailies and gathering for gold pretty much. I am part of a guild, but due to work along with my character's gear, I didn't get invited that much; I would like to change that!
I want to enjoy this character again and get ready for expansion; does anyone have suggestions?

Thanks in Advance!

Fast and dirty (have to run to lunch):

If you want to DPS, Ret is your spec. If you want to heal, you're going to have to have a Holy spec. Ret really can't heal in any meaningful fashion at this point.

In terms of your Ret spec**:

Some questionable talents (need to max Divine Strength, and Sanctity of Battle), and probably better off subspeccing into Holy (for Aura Mastery) than going down the Prot tree past Divine Strength. Picking up Vindication is going to depend on your raid.

Glyphs are also questionable for PVE - not bad, but probably better with Judgment, Consecration, Seal of Vengeance for general raiding.

Your gemming is off. I believe you want the +21 AGI/+3% crit dmg meta, and gem for strength, not AP.

Fix you trinkets (SP trinket and a tanking trinket) - get your hands on some DPS trinkets ASAP. Mirror of Truth is surprisingly good for being ilvl200.

Put some enchants on your gear (if it's low lvl gear, go with cheaper versions of the enchants, but no reason not to have things like +8 stats to chest). Get a belt buckle and leg enchants. Try to pick up a harder hitting weapon (normal Pit of Saron and heroic Pit of Saron are your best bets).

Your general (first come first serve) rotation is: HoW > Judgement > Crusader Strike > Divine Storm > Consecration > Exorcism > Holy Wrath until you get T10 gear.

There are some good resources on the web on Ret pally DPS - look them up and they'll give you a much more in depth understanding of what you should be shooting for.

Good luck, and have fun!

** I'm assuming when you talk about your guild not inviting you, that you're talking about raiding.

Your gems need lots of work. They should all be pure strength. I don't put epic gems in pieces below level 232, and you don't have any slots like that, so go get a blue-level Bold Scarlet Ruby in every slot except one. You have a +4 stats gem, that should be +10 stats, but I guess it's in a low level item. Either way, Strength in everything except one +stats gem, and then the Relentless Earthsiege Diamond meta gem.

You have barely any enchants at all. That really makes you look lazy. At least get some cheap enchants. Ice Walker on your boots, for instance, is usually low cost and should be just enough to cap your Hit.

Your Expertise is really low. Switch your Glyph of Divine Storm for Glyph of Seal of Vengeance. That will add 10 expertise right away. You never gem for expertise, but you should look for pieces that will bring you up to near 26.

Your trinkets aren't even the right type. I hope you didn't take the Black Heart from a tank. :-\ And the other is for casters. Spend 40 Emblems of Heroism for the Mirror of Truth. I can't remember a second pre-raid trinket, sorry.

You still have a few blues, and you need to replace your tanking boots and gloves. Keep farming Heroic ToC and the normal Frozen Halls instances, replace those, then look for 10-25 ToC groups. Or if you're good at making gold, there's always the crafted pieces.

Oh, almost forgot. Your spec and glyphs need some help too. http://www.wowarmory.com/talent-calc.xml?cid=2&tal=050321000000000000000000000500000000000000000000000005232051203331302133231331 is the normal build. Aura Mastery is a very useful skill that can help raid groups survive. And your glyphs should be Seal of Vengeance, Consecration, and Judgement.
