It's my second day back to WoW after three years - still an excellent game!
But my bags are full, and I need veteran advice on what to toss. The Outlands gear drops are already better than my old pre-60 raiding clothes.
I'm playing a PvE warlock who runs solo or in small groups, and I have two damage questions:
*how do I value +Spell Power versus +Critical Strike?
*how useful is +Intellect in terms of damage?
I see that it adds to Critical Strike; is an item with 10 more intellect as useful as one with 3 more Critical Strike, or Spell Power?
and one survival question: any further need for my old resist-fire gear? If not, I'll gladly take the space, but if so, I'll keep it.

Pretty much all the old level 60 raiding stuff is made obsolete pretty fast in outlands. You won't really have any need for resistance gear these days, Blizz has more or less removed it from the game, and healers have nearly endless mana anyway.
As for how to value stats, I don't have any insight as a warlock at end game, so I'm probably not the best person to answer this question, but from what I can gather from EJ there a:
Quick answer - Hit > Spellpower > Haste > Crit > Spirit > Int. Which is one of those probably not accurate for you, I don't know your spec, use at your own risk kinds of things.
Long answer - Use a spreadsheet.
I have no idea if the spreadsheet is accurate pre-80 (many aren't). The good thing is that these days WoW tends to provide you with reasonably well itemized gear in drops, so you probably wont have too much trouble finding good caster gear.

I assume you are in the midst of leveling your warlock up to 80? If that is the case, you really don't need to worry too much about itemization until you hit the cap. Except for nostalgic reasons, I'd be ready to toss any vanilla gear because when TBC came out there was a big jump from vanilla raid epics to Outland quest greens. Just enjoy exploring and questing and utilizing the new LFD system to level and the gear will come and be sufficient to help you get to 80. The gear curve isn't as dramatic once you reach the shores of Northrend, but again, will be sufficient to help you level to 80. If you want to be **** like me, you can always use search tools on this website or wowhead to look for suitable gear replacements obtained from quests in your level range as you progress so you can ensure you target those quests.
Either Demonology or Affliction are preferable leveling builds.
Once you reach the level cap, then you should start focusing on stat itemization. As someproteinguy also stated, the general prioritization for locks is:
Hit (until capped) > Spellpower > Haste > Crit > Spirit > Int
for basically all builds. Essentially, no matter where you are at in gear level, spellpower will always scale better for you than crit.
Resist gear has all but been phased out, so don't worry about your fire-resist set.
