So since level 15, I've been leveling Smite spec with a few extra points for healing. Seems the only way I am leveling is randoms. End game I hope to go the way of a disc priest, since A) The spec interests me, mitigation with a hint of healing, and B) There's a lack of on my server, it seems.

I was wondering what's a good Disc spec, and is that a good way to go after hitting 58 and doing Outland instances?

If not, then what's a good healing spec to do randoms in? I have the chest and shoulder heirloom gear, and the rest are instance/random bag blues. I heal just fine in smite spec, but I go OOM way to often, and I do efficiently heal.

Here is a pretty cookie cutter Disc Build. I vary a few points based on my playstyle.

I'd fill up my disc tree first and get Penance as soon as possible (Level 60).

What Dadanox said.

You can definitely level as Disc. I did it from level 1 with one of my priests and found it very efficient.

I understand you're going to be doing dungeons, but if you're going to be doing any questing on your own, healing battlegrounds, or if you play on a PVP server, you may want a bit more offensive capability than the cookie cutter Disc build has. This is my spec. It's PVP oriented so you'd want to shift some points around, but the main thing is it still has Searing Light, which I would consider for leveling. I can solo, quest, heal 5-mans, and run battlegrounds all with the same build.

Could you, teacake, show me how you'd spend your first 51 points? I looked at your tree but, never playing a disc priest before, don't know which talents I should take asap and which I can hold off on. Please?

Well, I hate to join the dark side, but if you're specifically wanting to respec for leveling after level 58 I'd say Shadow becomes a pretty interesting choice. 50+ is the level you really get all the good stuff for shadow and you'll actually start seeing it's potential. I'm not saying disc or holy don't work great either, but consider it.

As for going through a disc spec;
-Twin Disciples
-Imp Inner fire & Imp PW:Fortitude
-Meditation

If you're going for smitespec, stop disc here and pick up Holy Specialization and Divine Fury

-Inner Focus & Imp PW:Shield
-Mental Agility
-Soul Warding
-Mental Strength
-Everything else. Grab pure stat bonuses (Focused Will, Renewed Hope, Grace, Enlightenment) as late as possible and things like Power Infusion, Rapture, and Pain Suppression as soon as possible. Aspiration is a preference, though if you do wait for it I recommend picking it up as your 49th and 50th point so you have a short-cooldown Penance the level you can grab it.

Disc really is quite straightforward once you get into it. Past Mental Agility we basically need *everything* in the tree so you can just go with the points in what you feel currently benefits you most.

Also, I'd go with something like this at 60, filling up disc until level 66 before continuing in holy.

Agree with Aethien's suggestion for the level 60 build. Then I'd work my way back up to Searing Light before anything else.

I kept Searing Light up to 60, but then respecced for Penance. That's 17 long levels without Searing Light but that will only bother you when soloing and you really need Penance. Once you have it you'll wonder how you ever healed without it.

Thank you both for your responses. I hit 61 yesterday and man I was expecting healing to change, but alas, it didn't much.
