Who needs a hunter?Follow

Who needs an alt to be your farmer? Psshhhh. Not me. I've been running through Strat a lot lately grinding runecloth (working on my 50 mounts), so to make it more convenient, I took my second spec and made it a solo spec with all those talents that you used to level with and then never used again, like Reflective Shield. Glyphs of Holy Nova, Mind Sear, and Smite. (ZOMG a Disc spec without Penance glyph! My mind nearly exploded.)

So now I'm, like, a total AOE grinder, and not just with mobs 20 levels below me either. I don't even have to move my fingers. The only three buttons I use are Shield, Holy Nova, and Mind Sear.

Lots of people already know this from leveling as Disc when this expansion came out. But it's just a note for those who haven't tried it. Priests can be shockingly efficient for AOE'ing stuff down. I don't think my hunter or druid could do it much faster.

Yes, we should definitely get Aethien off our boards.

Wait, what?

I thought Aethien playing a hunter was, like, so 2008. Isn't he a druid now?

It might be possible, if druids can morph into Death Knights, Hunters and Priests.

Hey, I also have a shaman, warrior and rogue (and warlock and paladin)

Edit: And I think the other thread shows that I still <3 my hunter.

I can AoE grind dailies in my normal raiding spec. I can do it even better in my PvP spec. I'm actually at the point where it annoys me if mobs stand so far apart I can't AoE them down.

I've been soloing TFA in my PvP spec a few times now. Today I forgot to switch specs for it, and still managed fine.

I love being able to AoE stuff down fairly effectively.

I don't really much when I run Strat because I mostly just do bosses - the Hearthmaster, the one who's right in my face after that (Bartae...something?), the three to open the way to Baron, and then I have to do the last bit, obviously. From the trash I accidentally aggro and such, I still get 4-5 stacks a run, I think. At least I seem to have way too much Runecloth.

Also, why would you grind runecloth for city rep if you could do the Argent Tournament dailies and get up to 12 extra mounts (2 per faction plus the hippogryph and the dragonhawk) from those?

The valiant quests (only place you get individual faction rep afaik) are soul-sucking and the rep:time is not good. You also don't get seals for them to use toward said mounts, and the rep you can buy with the money from the champion's purse is more than what you can get from the champion's writ. You're better off just flagging champion across the board ASAP and getting your rep from runecloth.

Spouse keeps asking the same question, but I despise all that lancey-jousty crap and refuse to support it.

Cloth turn-ins will take less time in the end anyway. I don't go through the gauntlet gate to the Baron's section (those mobs don't drop as much cloth and they have a silence, efficiency is low), and I can run through the rest pretty fast and come out with 15-17 stacks of cloth. Illusion Dust and Righteous Orbs also sell well on my server so the money isn't bad, not what I could make grinding Northrend stuff but a lot more than I made, say, grinding feathers off furbolgs for my diplomat title. Plus I'm not exalted with the Argents so it's stocking up on rep for them in case I ever want their title.

I won't even have to grind for a Netherdrake, although I might anyway. I had every talbuk already (must coordinate with outfit), and the Cenarion Hippogriff. All the standard/racial mounts + PVP mounts get to 50 easily from there.

Pfft, 50 is easymode, 100 is what the pros get.

I just want the white dragon.

Fair, that dragon is pretty awesome.

It's kind of ironic that I have all these mounts on my druid when all I ever do is shift to flight form Smiley: tongue

See, now I feel like I should turn in all that runecloth I've got lying around. I only need one stack for the Ravasaur.

You also reminded me of the fact that I should do full Strat runs for the orbs. Late Vanilla enchanting mats are an awesome money-maker anyway.

More reasons to grind Strat. Unfortunately I'm quite close to exalted now, and I'm not sure I'll keep bothering after I've got the title. Not like the Baron mount is actually that awesome. The Ravasaur and White Hawkstrider are so much cooler.

And I so need to set up TK runs for the phoenix. :(

Sorry to tell you this, but hunter is still a better farmer for herbs, and ore.

If someone attacks you your pet just kills them. At worst you need to start the collecting channel again.

Yeah, I wasn't talking about gathering.

And druid with flight form is best for gathering herbs. :)

I so want my druid to be level 80. She's one of my more awesome alts.

On the whole topic of soloing stuff as a priest - I'm not sure how much it is me failing, but not being able to solo random things is getting a bit annoying.

So I can solo Strat, TFA, parts of Kara and AQ40 trash. That's all quite handy.
I can not solo MgT heroic or relevant ZG bosses and it's annoying. I wouldn't mind it being really slow but I can't even keep myself alive in those if I do nothing apart from healing which doesn't get stuff dead. I'm not sure how much easier it would be but you always hear about DKs and hunters and whatnot soloing those places. I wouldn't be surprised if half the classes could solo them. Apart from the limits of my skill (exploiting pathing on bosses? what?), I'm really quite sad that you never hear of priests soloing anything hard. It makes me doubt if we can do it.

This has gotten me so frustrated that I don't even feel like playing my main at all right now. I will again tomorrow but I'm annoyed.

Oh, so does anyone know how I could approach ZG? The tiger boss has me silenced 90% of the time. I can't do anything.

On the plus side, I've maxed out my dagger skill and gotten maces to 380 or so over the last couple of days. I can melee down all sorts of things, too!

I'm not even sure whether the tiger boss can be solo'd by anything, really. Maybe a blood DK in good gear, or a precisely specced paladin. I used to run 2-man ZG runs with a (prot) paladin pall a couple of months ago and we still ocassionaly had trouble getting the tiger boss down. The fact that they all need to die at the same time combined with the fact that they keep locking you down makes is hard, if not impossible to actually solo that fight.

You can probably solo Blood Lord Mando'Kir, but I reckon it'd take AGES. He does hit pretty hard on cloth from what I remember, so you'll have to kill him using DOTs while healing yourself.

The tiger boss has been solo'd by warlocks, enhancement shamans, hunters and feral druids, too. It's definitely doable, or at least it used to be - there was a bug they fixed that made it easier.

Blood Lord Mando'Kir definitely can't be solo'd without using some strategy. My healing isn't enough to even apply DoTs consistently and I just end up dying to RNG. I was thinking pulling him up the stairs and then jumping down with levitate to somewhat reduce the time he's hitting me compared to the time I'm able to do stuff, but even that would be subject to some crazy RNG luck and I'd have to pull it off pretty perfectly. Plus I'd have to rely on instant cast heals, and with him hitting me for 8+ seconds straight, I'm not sure that'd be enough.

Pretty sure my husband solos that tiger guy with his bear druid. I can double check if it matters to anyone.

My personal opinion, I wouldn't bother trying to force-fit a priest into soloing everything. It's clearly the best class ever, but that doesn't mean it can do everything every time better than anyone else. Could you get a priest to solo heroic MT? Probably. But why would you when it would be so much easier with your DK? For soloing a lot of that stuff, you're just going to want a tanking class/plate. It's why we have alts.

If you just want to make it work for the challenge, though, yeah, what Aethien said. Smiley: nod

I just currently don't have an alt that is capable of anything like that. I only have one alt over 60. Plus, alts aren't really useful for trying to get rare mounts for my main. :P

And I've tried PvP spec. It's usually the way I go when something doesn't work. The problem is that even with reflective shields, the uptime on my shield is so low I have to do a lot of healing to compensate. These things hit hard if you're a clothie.
I could try and offspec into something like this or this specifically for the purpose, but I don't think it would make that much of a difference. I think the key is to exploit movement and I seriously doubt I have enough skill or patience for that.

What she said.

The Tourney thing got old some 10 minutes after launch. I do less DPS on my horsie than in Cat form as well. The only reason not to jump off and scratch some bad guys is that they do the silly 'trample and 20k in your face' thing.

Like there aren't non-jousting dailies you can get through them.
