Nibelung?Follow

I am pretty sure I did a very dumb thing and rolled on Nibelung tonight in ICC. I was carrying 10 man normal frost needle and lightbane focus from totc. Seems that Nibelung is a DKP burn and not much else. Did I ***** up? It lowers my hit to 211 which I think in 25 man is ok but I am just kicking myself.

It really isn't that good of a weapon, even with the buffs to it. Most of the time (minus AoE, really) it is better to stick with a standard weapon.

But it's just so epicly fun!

Not gonna lie, if I got this it would be highly unlikely I'd use anything else for the rest of the expac, unless future drops were WAY better.

I've got Mag'hari Chieftain's Staff and I'd been drooling for Nibelung until I crunched the stats against each other - I just wasn't feeling I was getting a better weapon.

Is the proc really that great of an upgrade to warrant the loss of the other stats?

Yes, it's kewl as heck and it seems to proc almost non-stop and every cloth DPS in my raid group has the thing but...

My mage is an alt, admittedly a second in command grade alt in that it's got close to the same GS as my main and is actually a better DPS then most then half the raid (I usually rank in the top ten) but I haven't played it no where nearly as much as my feral so, yes, it's a very solid toon, but I won't pretend to be a cloth DPS expert.

I defer to the mage mains.

the proc is worth approximated 27k damage (if the valk procs and stays alive and has 100% dps time on a boss). The problem is the 2% chance to proc the valk (and it happening at an appropriate time) compared to getting straight stats on a weapon. Most people look at it to either be a big upgrade over a bad weapon (which the MCS isn't, especially for arcane, although it is far better for healers). It really only shines as an AoE weapon as it has a chance to proc with multiple targets being hit.

With that said, there aren't too many fights where that really matters in ICC.

Still the best proc in the game. :P

I /squee a little every time I see someone (usually a boomkin D:) running around with their own Val'kyr.

I imagine it would be better for Arcane than the other specs, though, since we cast much faster than Frost and Fire (generally speaking). And I *THINK* each bunch of missiles in AM can proc it.

So, even though the proc rate is though, we get quite a few chances to actually bring it about (if each AM missile does have a chance, then the spell/time ratio of proc chances is faster than the GCD,
I think, if using 0234).

I still haven't touched my Mage in ages though. :/ After I got his 2pc T10, I just got bored. I rarely raid and didn't see the point in trudging my way to 4pc...
